Psuedo-heterochromatic eyes stared up at the dulled sky above, and a sigh hit the air. Steps were taken back, and shoulders hit a wall. Arms folded comfortably in front, and eyes closed again. "Damn it where is she" Collin swore aloud tapping his foot just a little more impatient than usual. For a vampire whose life was judged not in simple years of existence but in decades of surviving, he found himself surprisingly impatient as he looked down and pulled at his sleeve revealing the face of an old fashioned clock. For a few seconds, blue and red eyes were content to stare as the seconds ticked by on the hand, but after that, Collin sighed, pulled his sleeve back, and stared up towards the sky again as though it would provide a more interesting enterprise.
In truth Collin hadn't been waiting there- in front of his store- for that long. He had actually just gotten off work and had even spent a few minutes upstairs in the loft house above changing into one of his more comfortable simple black suits and brushing out his deep blue highlighted hair before heading down. He hadn't even been there ten minutes, in fact. However, to Collin in that moment, it felt like hours. How annoying time could be at times when he wanted it to hurry up. It seemed the more he lived in this age that demanded things be done now, the more he found time distorted around him. He had one more begun to think in human terms even- as he caught himself sometimes doing. Suddenly stopping mid thought, Collin blanched a little at a realization that came to him only then and there. Well, he would fixed that now wouldn't he? A dry laugh escaped from Collin before a shake of the head was given.
Be patient, Collin... he mentally scolded himself drawing calm again. He was better than this or at least hoped he was. However, apprehension still plagued him in that moment which only caused him to face/palm briefly in the process. What he was he getting nervous about? There was nothing to be nervous about. He was fine. He was fine, damn it. Hands twisted in the pockets of the coat and eyes directed themselves upwards once more focusing in on the intricate but dull clouds that were moving over head- signalling that there would either be snow or a storm coming through sooner or later. Despite hos much he hated the cold at times and despite how much he loved the rain at times, Collin hoped that it would be the prior this time around at least. After a moment, eyes dropped down and the watch was stared at again. It had been less than a minute, damn it all where was she?

Carly's footsteps echoed on the streets as she ran towards the spot she was supposed to meet Collin. No doubt he would be waiting for her by now but it wasn't her fault that her boss had kept her later than usual. Even when Carly told him that she had plans for the evening he had still insisted that she help out. Ugh...honestly it wasn't like they couldn't survive without her for just one day... The chief of police seemed to think differently however and constantly badgered her about her opinions on situations and whatever else he could come up with. Besides that she had been on call for nearly a week now...if she hadn't been a vampire no doubt Carly would be exhausted by this time. Besides, today was supposed to be her day off...sigh so much for that.
As she neared the store that had become her home ever since her transformation, Carly sped up even more, eager to reach Collin before it got too much later. Carly reached the shop only moments later to find that Collin was already waiting outside. She had figured that would be the case considering how impatient he could be at times, hopefully he hadn't been waiting for too long. Had Carly known that Collin had been waiting all of two minutes by the time she had shown up she wouldn't have worried but she had no way of knowing how long he'd been standing there. Coming to a stop in front of the shop, Carly didn't hesitate before all but glomping Collin, not caring who else saw them. She had missed him and after dealing with her rather...difficult boss (to say the least of things), she was more than ready for a distraction.
"Sorry for the delay,"Carly replied after a moment, "My boss tried to keep me late...again..."she continued, smiling up at the one she loved. It was hard to stay upset when she was around Collin; he always seemed to know how to cheer her up no matter what circumstances arose. Then again considering how long they'd been together that was hardly surprising. "You weren't waiting for long were you?"Carly asked after a moment, hoping that she hadn't made him wait too long just because her boss was being an idiot.

The sound of footsteps drew Collin's eyes downwards again, and as his keen eyes caught sight of Carly in the distance, he smirked before melting that smirk into a smile as he stepped forwards and hugged her just as she glomped him. Despite the fact that public displays of affection had never been his forte, a hug was easy enough. All irritation about the time and the like went out the window at her presence, and he couldn't help but grin despite himself. She was there now, and that was all that mattered. "It's fine," he reassured earnestly hugging her tight briefly before releasing her from the hug. "But just being away from you for a little sucks so what can I say?" he asked smirking at her thereafter. It was a pun he had used over the years for various vampire related things, but in that moment Collin earnestly meant it. It felt draining to be without her at times despite what he put on about how she was overbearing at times. Really, she was the right balance of stuff to him for the most part.
"Ready to go?" he asked raising his eyebrow a little in question before reaching forwards to take her hand. The question of where they were going had not actually been answered by Collin even through the week as Carly had habitually asked. Instead, he had kept it a secret from her for a certain reason, and even then if she asked, he wouldn't tell then and there. It would be revealed in good time or so Collin had assured before and then again. "I had a car brought," he hummed after a moment reaching in his pocket and pressing a button. In another second, a somewhat short limo had turned the corner. Considering just how frugal Collin was, it would probably startle Carly to see the expense he seemed to be going for in that moment. However, Collin himself was having fun in that moment for more reasons than one. He would keep her guessing all night but would never give a straight answer or so he resolved to do so.
Among the more pertinent other things, the car had other uses. Collin knew that Carly was still leery about the dark at times, and having a few carlights on would probably ease whatever tension would begin was the later afternoon fell into full night.

Carly couldn't help but smile as Collin wrapped his arms around her and sighed quietly, more than content to remain like this. Collin seemed to have other ideas however and released her after a brief moment. She was quite relieved that he wasn't irritated after all but then again Carly wasn't quite sure why she thought he would be. His grin was infectious and soon enough Carly found herself forgetting her initial aggravation about all that happened at work. It seemed that whenever she was with Collin all her worries just melted away...work just didn't seem to matter when they were together. The next thing Collin said was enough to bring a smirk to Carly's own features even as she rolled her eyes at the horrible pun. "I could say the same about you,"Carly replied, only half teasing before leaning in and kissing him.
The question that was asked of her made Carly's eyes sparkle with excitement. That was right...the mystery date that Collin had refused to give her so much as a clue about was tonight. It had irritated her to no end but now that they were actually going, Carly was almost giddy with excitement. She had lost count how many times she'd tried to figure out what Collin was planning and had conjured up several different scenarios at this point but each and every time she'd guessed wrong. "Of course I am~,"Carly chimed, taking Collin's hand as he reached for it,"Even if you never told me where we're going," she continued before hearing Collin say that he had a car brought.
At first Carly thought that he was joking, after all the years that she'd known him it simply wasn't like Collin to splurge on something like a car. She was about to ask him if he was joking when sure enough a small limo appeared after a few moments making Carly blanch in the process. For a few moments all she could do was stare at the limo that had just appeared before them, hardly believing what she was seeing. This wasn't a dream right...of course not...what a stupid question. The sight of the car had surprised Carly so much that she was speechless. This only lasted for a few moments before she looked back at Collin, clear excitement and delight written all over her features, "Who are you and what have you done with Collin,"Carly teased,"Just what are you planning anyway...? This isn't like you," she continued, her mind reeling as she tried to figure out exactly what Collin had in mind.

The kiss was very much accepted before returned lightly before Collin broke it and went on. The sudden liveliness in Carly's eyes only drew that signature smirk onto Collin's face, and he couldn't help but chuckle just a little at her. As she proclaimed that of course she was ready to go, Collin couldn't help but wonder if she was ready for what would happen next. He couldn't wait to see that look on her face just as the car came around. Sure enough, that expression came to her face- that signature surprise coupled with an inability to do anything about it. It was a doubting stare that she gave him a bit more skeptically years prior, but right then and there he knew it was more in shock than anything.
As she looked sideways at him, Collin couldn't help but twist up his features into a larger smile then and there. The question drew a half laugh out of him. "I'm his twin brother from out of town," he jived back dryly shaking his head. That was a joke. Collin had no living family, and even if he did, he wouldn't have a clone wandering around with the same red eye that belonged to a certain someone. The question after that only drew another chuckle out of Collin before a shake of the head was given. "You'll have to wait and see," he replied back before stepping forwards and pulling open the door making a gesture for her to get in before climbing in himself.
Upon coming into the limo, Collin's eyes flashed around it briefly with a skeptical look- as though he were ready to judge anything that was out of place. However, when it passed his speculation, he moved in farther and sat down on one of the white leather seats and leaned back breathing in the smell of new car that predominated. It would be minute or two more before the driver got out and checked the car before driving off after that rather quickly. The limo was relatively new, but it wasn't like Collin had bought it. Instead, he had been more than just a little specific towards the service that he was renting from and threatened there would be problems if anything was messed up.
The smell of champagne drew Collin into brief confusion as he opened one eye and caught sight of the small refrigerator that was off to one side within the limo. He hadn't ordered any considering they weren't able to drink like that. However, a part of him was a little too sure that the woman he had talked to about the car had realized his intentions and prepared it accordingly. He'd ignore it for now though. "Care to try and guess again?" he asked looking sideways at Carly and tilting his head to one side. "You have three before you'll have to wait and see," he mused.

At the reply from Collin about being his twin brother, Carly couldn't help but roll her eyes at that. She knew very well that he didn't have any remaining family, much less a twin with the same dual colored eyes. The next words Collin said Carly had admittedly half-expected him to say but hey, it was worth asking at least. So what if she hadn't been able to get a straight answer out of him for weeks on end...he was bound to slip up sooner or later. Perhaps the reason why she had such a difficult time figuring out what he had planned was because he knew her too well. The same could be said about him but all the same, it was aggravating that Carly still hadn't managed to guess what Collin had up his sleeve.
As Collin opened the door for her, Carly climbed into the limo and sat down, very much enjoying the comfort of the leather seats. When Collin climbed in and sat down, Carly wasted little time before sliding over to him and leaning against him, taking his hand as she did so. This was a rare treat indeed and Carly couldn't help but wonder just what was going on. Collin was usually frugal with money and usually would have balked at the idea of renting a limo or any sort of car really. Still, it was rather nice to have a luxury like this one...mmm and there was even champagne...how odd. Neither of them could drink it without being sick but whatever the case, the thought was nice. Still, champagne was used predominantly for special occasions which narrowed the already extensive list of ideas Carly had come up with down to a select few.
After a short time the limo began to move just as Collin asked if she would like to guess. Well that was a rather silly question, especially when Collin knew all too well that she didn't really like surprises. Yes they were nice occasionally but Carly rarely hated being in the dark on well...anything. In her line of work especially she needed to know all the details and had thus trained her brain to perceive even the smallest detail lest anything be overlooked. Still, he was giving her another chance to guess which was nice considering she had already exhausted all her previous guesses before he had told her to wait...again. "You know it~,"Carly chimed, smiling up at him before scanning the limo briefly, red eyes taking in everything there was to see in the back of the limo. She couldn't see the driver but then again chauffeur rarely mattered in situations such as these.
Studying the limo and figuring out the general direction where they were going only took a few moments before she came to a conclusion of sorts or rather she had narrowed the list down further. This coupled with what Collin was wearing made her think that perhaps they were going to a more expensive restaurant but...the question still remained why he was spending so much on this night. "Are we going to some fancy restaurant or perhaps the area overlooking the city? Or...is it the anniversary of the day we met and I simply forgot about it because of my idiot boss?"Carly asked after a few moments before looking back up at Collin to see what he had to say.

That confident smile and the words that chimed out into the air afterwards were enough to draw an amused expression onto Collin's features. When it came down to it, her determination was her best and worst quality as Collin saw it anyways. She was a self-contradiction, but then again weren't most people? Yes, people were far more complex and contradictory than even they may have been willing to admit. Collin saw this not only in everyone else but also in himself to a certain degree. It bothered him at times, but as time had gone on, he had come to accept some parts of himself- like the vampire body he had been left with- were frozen in time. "Then guess away," he replied briefly watching her look around. There was no information to be gained from there or so Collin thought anyways.
Those obscure spheres dropped themselves and assessed the clothes he was wearing briefly as Collin waited for a guess or two. By nature, he was a fan of suits, and when not working or in the confines of his own house, he was wearing one. They made him look older- especially when he managed to get his hair in order along with that. It gave an appearance of someone just a bit older than the seventeen years he was frozen at- maybe arguably early twenties. That was enough for Collin, though. As long as he wasn't treated directly like a kid for his youthful appearance he was fine. The only real thing that threw off his look was the set of earrings or lack their of that had been a part of his ear since before he had transformed. It had been during his rebellious streak years ago when he was still human that he had decided to take nails to his ears and pierce them himself. He still remembered the horrified look his mother had when he came home with them. Now a days, he rarely wore any of his earrings in them any longer. However, in that moment in the limo there he had set all his earrings in to keep his ears looking as rounded as they normally did. It was better in this instance or so he believed.
The questions caused Collin to look up again a smirk coming then to his lips. "Nope, to both," he replied bemused as he reached back and rested his arm on the back of the chair easily. "Got about one two three...four five... months till then," he half laughed after that. "That's two, care to guess again?" he asked tilting his head to one side. He already assumed she would try and guess again. It wasn't like her to give up without her last try

As Collin said that both of her previous guesses were wrong, Carly's browed furrowed as she tried to figure out what else it could be. It was rather close to Valentine's day but then again it was a little early to be planning anything for that... Ack, this was so aggravating...why couldn't Collin just tell her already... He was enjoying this a little too much...sigh, there really was no helping it she supposed. It wasn't often that she was wrong but with this...after how many guesses she still hadn't been able to figure it out. This whole charade was beginning to grow tiresome, it had been how many weeks since Collin had first hinted about tonight... Honestly, she loved Collin dearly but there were times...
Glancing briefly about the limo, Carly looked for anything she might have missed before but found nothing. It wasn't all that unusual for Collin to wear suits either...if not for the limo, Carly could've sworn that it was just an ordinary day... Clearly it wasn't though with the way Collin had been going on and on about tonight, thoroughly vexing her. It was rather irritating that she hadn't been able to guess true but at the same time it wasn't often that she was able to admit she had been bested. Despite her initial irritation at having secrets kept from her, Carly was quite enjoying this little game. The only other thing she could think of was the possibility that-.....no...she'd pretty much beaten that subject to death...the likelihood of it happening anytime soon was slim.
Perhaps he had simply wanted to avoid the Valentine's day crowd and had decided to do something early. That made sense...Collin wasn't one to 'mingle' in crowds like she was. Out of the two of them she was the most social, though most of the time it wasn't by choice. Her job required her to be able to blend in and be able to acquire information among other things. At any rate she still had one guess left and there was no sense in wasting it. After a few more moments, Carly finally came to a conclusion that she believed was the most plausible...hopefully she was correct but if not she'd conceded that Collin had bested her despite how much the thought irked her. "Mmm, is this an early Valentine's Day? I know you don't like crowds..."Carly asked, smirking slightly as she posed the question. She had to be right...there wasn't any other reason that she could think of for something as extravagant as a limo at any rate. This had to be right...

Her next guess drew a chuckle out of him. That would have been the logical thing to guess now wouldn't it? She was a logical person when it came down to it, but it also made her predictable to a certain extent. He chuckled briefly before shaking his head again- his blue hair shifting with the turn of his head. "Nope, I'll deal with St. Valentine's day when it comes," he replied his hand wavering in the air for a moment before dropping again. "Looks like you'll just have to wait and see," he mused leaning upwards just a bit to stare out the dark tinted windows to check where they were before relaxing again. "Not too far away now, though" he smirked devilishly.
He'd wait after that, dodging whatever complaints or questions happened to rise from Carly on the subject then and there. It would all come to light soon enough. That soon enough came as the car came to a halt causing Collin to sit up and stretch thereafter. Climbing out first, he turned sideways to look both at her and to gesture behind him. There, at the bank of a river was an old fashioned gondola complete with push pole and what appeared to be some seat cushions for practical purposes. Though there were plenty of water ways in Italy, Collin had been specific in choosing one in particular. Along its banks were old style houses and quiet neighborhoods- the epitome of harmony and ease.
After a moment, Collin shifted his stance again bowing deeply then and there and extending a hand more formally to Carly. "Will you do me the honor of riding down the river with me?"he asked playing heavily into an Italian accent he could easily drop and pick up again for one reason or another. When it came down to it, he was a man of the past- one who knew the more classical things that were slowly being rejected as the nineteen hundreds came about. It was easy to have such mannerisms when he wanted to, and in that moment Collin knew it would add to the flare of what he was trying to accomplish then and there.

As Collin explained that her last guess was wrong, Carly frowned slightly. She hadn't guessed correctly...again...but if none of her previous guesses were correct then what on earth was going on... A limo certainly wasn't required on what Carly considered a 'normal' date...at least not by her standards. Still, that meant that she simply had to wait and hope that the apparent surprise was worth it. Judging by the way Collin had been going on about it he had something big in mind but what Carly hadn't been able to determine. Ah well, he had won this round then...she should just make the best of the situation and enjoy the evening. Besides, it wasn't like Collin would do anything bad after getting her this excitement for tonight.
"Fiiine...."Carly finally consented before sighing in exasperation,"You know I don't like secrets Collin,"she continued before smirking slightly. His own smirk was evidence enough that he was very much enjoying this little guessing game that she had failed so miserably at. "You're enjoying this a little too much ya know that,"Carly jived dryly shortly before the car came to a stop. Well, at least she wouldn't have to wait much longer to see what on earth he had planned for the night. In truth Carly hadn't been all that thrilled when Collin had suggested they go out that night but he had assured her it would be fine. Besides that, Collin had assured her that nothing was going to happen to her as long as he was around.
When Collin climbed out first, Carly waited a few moments before following suit and once again was struck speechless by the sight of the gondola. This was certainly not what she had been expecting...she hadn't even thought of a gondola when trying to figure out what Collin could possibly have planned. One thing was for sure, this was better than any restaurant...well, that had been a poor guess anyway considering neither of them could eat what was considered human food without getting sick later. The water was peaceful, the neighborhood serene, it even had those Victorian houses that Carly loved so much. If she had her way, Carly would have loved to live in one of those beautiful, old houses that seemed to be just as timeless as they- as vampires frozen in time- were. Unfortunately Carly didn't know how well Collin would like that idea and thus contented herself with merely decorating the interior of their loft as such. It at least gave her a taste of what it would be like to reside in one of those timeless houses.
Whatever the case, the sight had surprised Carly, so much so that she still hadn't managed to pull herself together until Collin's words broke through her thoughts. Turning to face him after all but gawking at the scene before her, Carly's eyes sparkled with nothing short of sheer wonder. He had done this for her...of all the things she had imagined this night could bring this was perhaps the only thing she hadn't thought of. The Italian accent and the overall formality that Collin was showing her was something else entirely. If it had not been for the fact that Carly was now a vampire a rosy blush would have been rather evident on her features. The Italian accent alone was enough to give her pause but coupled with the bow...
A few more moments would pass in silence as Carly all put gaped at the hand extended to her before she seemed to snap out of her daze of sorts. "Collin you-...this is..."Carly began quietly, before shaking her head briefly, trying to form at least one coherent sentence. After a moment a small smile played at her lips before she finally took his hand and nodded,"I thought you'd never ask~,"Carly quipped, showing none of the initial shock that she had upon seeing the gondola. All thoughts of what Collin was up to or what the night would bring went out the window right then and there as he took her hand and led her onto the gondola...it just didn't seem to matter anymore... Why had it even mattered in the first place...

The expression written on Carly's face- the reflection of silence and surprise- was enough to bring about that signature smirk back to Collin's features again. He did enjoy spoiling her when it came down to it, and her features right then and there partially made up for the large amount of money he had to spend orchestrating everything to perfection. The rest of the make up would come in time; Collin was sure of it. As Carly finally spoke, Collin smiled a little more than before. He said nothing as she shook her head trying to get her wits about herself again. He expected it and just enjoyed it for what it was. There were few times that he could get away with startling her in such a way without her reacting the wrong way, and he'd take what he could get then and there.
Fingers cupped fingers, and Collin briefly relished in the simple touch of Carly's much smaller hand. Though he was frozen in time at a younger age than she was, Collin had managed to grow taller and bigger. What stress and turmoil he would have being short at the tip of the ice berg, heh. Rather than start walking then and there, he twirled her briefly into an embrace that lingered for only a second or two before he released her again only holding onto her hand as he led her out onto the thin boat of sorts. A small gesture was given for Carly to sit before Collin moved to the end and pulled up a pole. Pushing off with ease and allowing the boat to begin to drift slowly then with the current as its guide, Collin looked sideways towards Carly. "As the night will fall, the stars will shine their heads down on the water though far less brightly than you,"he chuckled still harboring the Italian accent that was not his original tongue. It rolled off his lips so easily now after years of speaking it though it was debatable as to whether it would ever become second nature to him. His Japanese still rushed through his body wherein his blood did not.
"Why the sun hasn't begun to follow you around for light instead I have yet to figure out," he mused a bit more, his deeper sort of sing-song voice adding in a few extra notes. As a vampire, he could sing, though he had no time to do such things or the patience with which to pursue it. Instead, his voice came out like that- as easy and fluid as the water they traveled upon but not a current of melody.

As Collin cupped her hand, Carly couldn't help but smile at his touch. It was funny how even after all the time they'd known each other she could enjoy something as simple as holding hands. Perhaps it was one of those timeless things...no matter how old you grew, or in her case didn't grow, there was always something that stayed the same no matter what. Despite knowing that neither of them would age a day since they were both literally frozen in time, this was one thing that Carly hoped wouldn't change. Carly didn't have time to think about it more however when she found herself suddenly spun around into an embrace. The twirl had surprised her certainly but had only resulted in drawing a giggle from her before she leaned against Collin, smiling up at him as she did so.
Carly would have been more than content to simply remain there in Collin's arms for the remainder of the night but knew that was an impossibility...at least for now. All too soon Collin released her and once again took hold of her hand before helping her into the boat. The boat swayed slightly as they stepped into it only to come to a near stand still once again as Carly sat down on the indicated cushion. Shortly after this Collin pushed the boat away from the dock and down the peaceful river, the rippling waves of the water the only indication that they were moving at all.
Staring out at the water, Carly could see the sun's setting rays in the water's calm surface. It almost made it appear as if they were drifting in a river of fire rather than the cool water it had been moments ago. The sun's rays fell on Carly's blond hair, seeming to form a halo around it even as she looked towards Collin, a small smile playing on her features even as he spoke. The Italian accent coupled with the rather flattering words made Carly's smile grow all the more . Even as he finished, wondering why the sun wasn't following her Carly laughed softly and twirled a stray strand of hair in her fingers, just then noticing the glow that the sun appeared to be giving it.
"I think it already is..."Carly joked before letting the strand fall back into place, her smile never once fading,"What is all this Collin...you're spoiling me..."she mused, more to herself than anyone else in that moment. In truth she didn't mind being spoiled but this was...something else... Once again silence reigned as Carly simply enjoyed watching Collin push the boat along, all the while wondering how she had gotten so lucky as to find someone like him.

The reply from Carly drew an amused smirk onto Collin's lips for a moment before it melted into something more of a genuine smile again. "True," he replied after a moment giving a brief shake of his head just as the wind decided it would try and stick its fingers into the streamlined blue hair of his. The question that followed after only drew a chuckle from Collin. "You'll have to wait for this trip to end first," he replied bemused and waiting to see some sort of reaction to the fact that he had implied there as more. What could he say? Collin enjoyed making Carly flustered and all but angry at him for hiding more things from her. It would all come to full light in time, anyways. Rolling his shoulders as he pushed the pole through the water, Collin caught sight of his own reflection in the water- a testament to the fact that some vampire legends were not true.
An unintentional mental sigh ran through Collin briefly as the other testament to his existence reflected back at him. His distinct red eye that sat apart from his pale skin and blue hair tended to surprise people in one form or another. He feigned heterochromacy when people asked and tended to keep them from asking by keeping it closed whenever he could. However, it was a story from the past that scared him with such coloring, and it reminded him every chance it got. A soft sigh escaped from Collin before he looked upwards again focusing more on Carly than himself. It wasn't a day for reflections, anyways. It was a day to move forwards. A small smirk graced Collin's lips despite himself, and he hummed softly thereafter.
Moving slowly as the sun set, the gondola made its way to the delta of the river- a wider spread that would feed into the seat eventually. Collin continued his peaceful motions and adding in a few words here and there only really disturbing the peace for a short few seconds at a time. The small boat would never reach the end. Instead, ever so slowly, Collin directed the boat to the side a smooth edge and easy terrain to get off of. "We'll have to walk a bit from here..." he mused after a moment as the boat bumped the bank. Easily stepping off, Collin turned and extended a hand to Carly waiting for her to take it before helping her off the boat.
Farther inland from the bank, a pathway through some clutters of trees paved the way, and Collin easily started up through.

When Collin said that she'd have to wait for the end of the trip, Carly's eyes grew. There was more than this...or at least Collin had implied such. She had only been expecting a short ride along the river before they came back to where the limo was most likely still waiting for them. "There's more...?"Carly asked after a moment,"Collin..."she continued in a slightly scolding tone. Shaking her head in mock exasperation, Carly smirked,"What am I going to do with you...?"she teased before letting her gaze drop back to the water again.
Just what did Collin have planned anyway...this was already enough and yet... Was she really worth all the trouble he'd obviously gone through to set this up... Carly wasn't so sure, but then she wasn't certain about a lot of things though she would refuse to admit it. Trailing her fingers through the water, Carly smiled slightly as she watched the ripples form where her fingers had been. Even though some part of her was annoyed that Collin had somehow managed to keep so much from her, Carly couldn't help but admit that this was nice. The movement of the boat was almost indiscernible even with Collin pushing them along. Had it not been for the rather obvious ripples they were leaving in their wake, Carly might have been tempted to believe they were at a stand still.
Despite all this and how peaceful and serene the river was, Carly was all too aware that the sun was setting. It wouldn't be too long before darkness reigned. The thought was making her admittedly a little anxious before reminding herself that Collin wouldn't let anything happen to her; he would protect her, just as he always had. Besides, the river was so calm and serene...it was doubtful at best that anything would happen. With this thought in mind, Carly pushed away her anxious thoughts as best she could and focused on Collin and their slow but peaceful course down the river.
Not too much longer after this Collin brought the gondola to a stop much to Carly's surprise. She had expected them to continue on their journey down the river, at least for a little while longer. For perhaps the billionth time that night, Carly once again wondered what exactly Collin was up to that he would stop the gondola in a place where there didn't seem to be anything else aside from a few clusters of trees and the like. Nonetheless, Carly took Collin's hand as it was offered to her and climbed out of the boat with ease. Looking around the area, Carly studied her surroundings carefully as if doing so would tell her something about what was going to happen next. There didn't seem to be anything unusual however, just some trees that formed a path of sorts.
Still holding onto Collin's hand, Carly walked along side him without another word. For now she was content to wait and see what was down the pathway. Or rather, Carly knew that it would do no good to try and ask Collin about what was going on. All the same, she couldn't help but wonder why Collin was going through all this trouble in the first place...she was enjoying the evening thus far certainly but this was a bit much. What was going on..."...Collin...where are we going...?"Carly finally asked after the silence seemed almost unbearable. She didn't really expect a straight answer from him but it was at least something...

A hand around Carly's fingers laced together, Collin moved up the path alongside her smirking a little more than he probably should have in that moment. As Carly asked where they were going, a red eye flicked sideways at her, and the older vampire smirked. "You really think I'd tell?" Collin asked reaching his free hand up and pressing an index finger to his lips almost in thought. After a moment, he moved his hand and made a directional point up a hill. "When we get up there, you'll see," he finally replied before lowering his hand again and simply continuing his pace.
A part of him was sure that Carly was ready to run by then- to see what it was that all this was leading up to. However, he'd take his time, and with his hand in hers, she'd have to keep his pace. Slowly but surely they made their way to the top, and slowly but surely, signs of extra lights seemed to flicker over the top of the hill. When they finally did get to the top, Collin couldn't help but grin. Amongst the trees of a full clearing at the base of the hill, lanterns and lights had been strung up in various patterns and forms twisting about and shimmering with natural flames. A few had been blown out in the course of the time they had been lit, but the larger ones whose wicks were protected by glass and the like, still burned and danced about in their jars giving life to an otherwise deserted area.
Within the circle of these lights, a table blanketed in white cloth stood as if waiting for who knew how long. On top of the table sat what appeared to be an small antique looking chest coated with rosewood and gold. Collin looked sideways at Carly gauging her expression for just a moment before making a step down the hill. "Shall we go and see what there is?" he asked not even waiting to hear her reply before actually doing so. "Looks like there's something down there on the table," he mused lightly as he continued to lead her there at a steady pace despite himself.
