:: Collin Xerxes Walker :: Basics!:: Nicknames: Xerk - one of the few nicknames he will tolerate simply because he introduced himself as Xerxes at times rather than Collin to obscure his own name and thus how old he is. Sometimes he'll even play that he is his own grandfather to continue to obscure the truth. :: AGE: 112, appears late teens at oldest :: BIRTHDAY: March 1 :: GENDER: Male :: SEXUALITY: Demisexual but tends to normally say heterosexual when asked. :: FACE CLAIM: Rokudo Mukuro (an anime character but I use cosplayer pictures found on photobucket) :: MEMBER GROUP: Vampire :: JOB : House Wife He owns and manages a grocery store :: LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English, Italian, Japanese
Personality! :: LIKES:- Cats- Even since he was human, Collin enjoyed cats as pets. He likes them for their independent but easy going natures, and the fact that they keep bugs and mice to a minimum in houses is very useful to him. Just as some people are cat people and some are dog people, Collin is not a dog person by nature.
- Rainy/Stormy weather- The darkness that comes with this type of weather and the cool atmosphere of such times makes Collin enjoy such weather more than any other type. He likes running out through the rain and getting drenched to the bone. Sure he doesn't really like having to dry off after and deal with the recourse of his escapade, but he does love the weather none the less.
- Cooking- Despite the fact that Collin cannot eat what would be considered 'human' foods any longer, he loves cooking. Even as a human, he enjoyed cooking simply because during cooking hours, he actually got to sped equal time with his parents who enjoyed cooking as well. Sometimes Collin will buy up ingredients and cook for no other reason than to take in the smell of it.
- Carly- She is honestly the best and worst thing that has ever happened to him. He has openly admitted that he more than just likes her, but that doesn't mean that he's going to jump head first in the marriage boat. He would rather her just stay by his side without some dead-lock commitment though maybe this is just his general fear of commitment getting in the way of things.
- Winning- Whether it's a petty game or not, Collin enjoys winning. He even goes so far as to cheat at times in order to ensure the fact that he can or has already won something. Truthfully, he sees no problem in lying and cheating at all.
:: DISLIKES:
- Bright sunlight- Collin tends to feel like he is burning all the time when in direct sunlight and to a certain extent he is. He hates how it can get in his eyes and make his vision blurry if he looks directly at it as well. In general, he would prefer the night to any other time no matter the situation.
- Dogs- Straight up he hates them. They're loud dumb creatures that resemble the werewolves that he generally dislikes as well. He finds them useless creatures- especially the smaller ones. He does have a bit of respect for larger protective dogs but not that much.
- Being woken up when he does sleep- Considering vampires don't have to sleep that much, when he does sleep, Collin doesn't like being disturbed for anything. He's quick to anger when woken and tends to resort to violence quickly during this time.
- Being dependent on others- Collin is naturally independent. After spending years growing up without physically aging he has come to realize just how much he hates leaning on others for anything whether it be substance or something else.
- Being caged or locked down- Collin is a free person by nature. He dislikes being chained down in any sense of the word. It doesn't mean that hes quick to change alliances, it means that it takes him forever to actually form alliances in the first place.
:: HABITS:
- Smirking confidently- A twitch of his lips, and Collin's smirking amused with a head of confidence. Even when he isn't amused, Collin tends to smirk for some reason or another. He swears it's just a habit his face has gotten used to over the years, and there isn't any sense in changing it now a days.
- Clapping his hands when amused- This will actually show you when he is amused rather than his smirking. It shows just how much he is enjoying himself in one form or another.
- Over analyzing things- Collin likes taking things apart but has a problem with reducing them to nothing in the process.
:: STRENGTHS:
- Confident- Collin has a self-confidence that cannot be broken. He knows he is capable of much and will not back down even in the most tense of circumstances when he believes he can do something. There is almost no way to get him to back down due to this, and thus it is a double edged sword of sorts.
- Physically strong and senses peaked- Collin's age has given him senses above a fledgling and that of a heightened vampire. He can run fast, react quickly, and smirk all the while.
- Hard working- When he wants something done, Collin will do it himself and work until it is done. That is just the time of person he is, and he is far from the type to back down under any circumstances. He would rather push through and win rather than back down.
- Cognitive ability- Collin's got street smarts above books marts. Despite his age and despite the time that he has had to read, he was just never a book type. However, he does have a lot of street smarts and a smart tongue that allows him to deal with various situations with ease.
- Easy going- Collin doesn't worry too much and doesn't care too much for the most part. Because of this, he's generally easy going even in the more tense of circumstances. He's the type to laugh in the middle of two hateful people and tell them that they need to be friends or something.
- Humor- Collin has a raw blunt sense of humor that tends to come up at the most random of moments. It keeps him from being too serious at times and tends to keep him lighter than what h would be without it.
:: WEAKNESSES:
- Arrogant- Vampires are better than everyone else, and he'll argue with you till the end of time about it. Collin is confident and all but cocky about it. He knows that he's good and tends to flaunt it when he feels like it which happens to be often.
- Authoritatively defiant- Collin never really got over his authority problems in life and therefore still has trouble dealing with them. He's a chronic anarchist and hates most governments with a passion simply because they happen to exist.
- Immature- Collin was frozen in time during his teenaged years, and because of this, he never had a full chance to mature into an adult. He still harbors a lot of childish notions- most of which come in the way of a cognitive blindness of others and a lack of empathy. He tells most people he just doesn't care more often than not and is known to make fights because of this conflict.
- Proud- Collin knows he's not the best of the best, but he's still proud of who he is. Therefore he generally doesn't like to admit defeat in any way, shape, fashion, or form. He tends to get irritated when at a loss and goes so far as to be cruel to win.
- Sarcastic- Collin's play on words tends to cause him to be very sarcastic at times often taking people and their words for granted in the process.
- Compulsive liar- When under pressure, Collin lies consistently and repeatedly.
- Secretive- Collin hides a lot of his heart away from people and generally has a hard time opening up to others as a result. He tends to give half-truths at best and getting the full story out of him to form true connectiveness is often hard.
:: OVERALL PERSONALITY: On the outside, Collin is a confident, cocky, and hardheaded street-talker. He states what he believes and doesn't give a damn what anyone else says half the time unless they're either agreeing with him or expanding on what he is already thinking. You're either with him or against him as he often puts it, and more often than not, he'll stress how 'bad' it is if you are against him. Prone to violence when angry, which is often, Collin feels nothing towards the suffering of others and is often more than happy to inflict more pain on whiners when he gets the chance. 'The strong live and speak, the weak shut up or die' he's been known to say here and there. Collin thinks on his feet and seems to say the first thing that comes to mind apparently believing that the first impulse is the correct one. Once he had made a decision, he won't back down and has the resolve of a bull. Though he comes off as a jerk, he's not often wrong in his assessments though he does tend to egg others on with his tone generally making enemies easily.
With all that being said, what was just explained is Collin's 'street front' of sorts born from a world that hasn't been too nice to him. Though he may seem confident, cocky, and one who doesn't back down, Collin has a hard time living up to what he plays off. True he has a surprisingly large amount of self-confidence, mainly in what he knows he can do well and succeed in by nature, Collin has a harder time with things that he doesn't know or doesn't understand. Though he can put off well that he has the resolve to step forwards without worry, he is almost always mentally taking one step back. Though he seems to be able to charge into a situation, one doesn't get to see the amount of mental will that it takes him in order to take that first step. In short, Collin isn't the bravest person you will ever meet.
Generally, the entirety of what most people first see of Collin is his front. He can be hardheaded bout would rather be passive. He says he doesn't give a damn what people think, but all the while he is often wondering how many people are watching. He says he wants to stand out and be known, yet he hides back in the darkness that he has come to expect in life. In effect, he's lying not only to everyone else but to himself first and foremost. The things that he says are often only what he wishes they would be, and though he can claim to be a stoic chaotic person who doesn't give a damn, he is actually the sympathetic sort who would get upset if someone else's cat was missing. Why have a front someone may ask? It is mostly because Collin has struggled with and still struggles with his own personality. Like teenagers, he has a hard time truly defining himself most of the time and finds that putting on various hats will somehow ease the confusion and pain. However, unlike teenagers, he has yet to grow out of this phase completely.
That being said, Collin isn't all immaturity and childish notions and dreams. On things outside of himself, he is a practical person- one who takes things with a realistic approach to life and an understanding that allows him to run with information. He's good at understanding a situation more than he is good at understanding a math equation, but he has the general will to be able to stand up to it. He's also got some house talents that allow him to manage a budget, cook, and do various things to maintain a domestic situation. His natural secretiveness can also be somewhat good when he is dealing with neighbors and the like.
History! :: MOTHER: Aoiya Walker :: FATHER: Jethro Walker :: SIBLINGS: Catherine Walker :: SPOUSE: :: CHILDREN: :: PETS: Zero- Orange Tabby Cat; randomly appeared on Collin's door step one day, and he just took her in. He sometimes jokes that she's his 'other girl' just to get a rile out of Carly.
:: HISTORY: Jethro Walker, a businessman from the United States, wasn't expecting to find a wife when he came to Japan on a business trip. However, the man that he was planning to start a business with insisted that he meet his daughter, and it was love at first sight. Though their cultures clashed considerably, Jethro and Aoiya somehow managed to make it work at least during their dating time, and eventually they were married with the consent of Aoiya's father who deemed the wedding also to be a business investment. In their first years of marriage Jethro and Aoiya would have their first child whom they would named Collin in honor of Jethro's father whose name he shared. The middle name Xerxes came most unexpectedly and through Aoiya's father suggesting it as a 'strong name for a boy' considering the history that was attached, and thus the child was named.
Raised predominantly in Japan for his first years of life, Collin learned the ways of two distinct cultures each separate and unique in being. Of course it wasn't strange to him to learn English alongside Japanese as his father and mother tended to have their preference language wise as it was. However, as years went on, Collin would watch as his parents fought back and forth over various things, and this too became the norm in his fragile mind. When Collin was around the age of five, just a little after he had started being schooled by 'nothing but the best' or so his grandfather who was a figure sometimes seen in the house proclaimed on occasion, his mother stated she was pregnant again and broke down into tears after that. Collin had never seen her so frustrated, and when he asked her what was wrong, she just blamed Jethro. Collin didn't understand but would begin to harbor a general dislike for his father after that.
Catherine Walker was born nine months later right after Collin turned six years old. Though at first he was jealous of this new baby in the family, Collin quickly warmed up to his sister as time went on. The more she grew, the more she put their parents back together again somehow, and for that reason alone, Collin adored Catherine. He would do anything and everything for her. However, as time went on, it became distinctly clear that his parents preferred her over him. Though at first it hurt him, Collin managed to rationalize it that they didn't prefer her per say but just found a younger child in more need. It was this reason that Collin managed to cling to and keep the hate out of his heart. However, a rivalry still broke in the form of perfection. Collin began to seek his father's attention in how well he did on his tests and things, but the man had a nasty habit of pretty much saying Col could do better. This injured Collin's pride time and time again, and he spent so much time studying and trying to learn that eventually he burnt out and refused to do anything for a few months much to his parent's horror. In all but retaliation, Collin's father started sending Cathrine to a school. Collin had never been so horrified and ended up scrambling to try and be better. He had to be better.
As years moved on, Jethro decided to move the family back to the states for some work related reason, and they moved. It was only there that Collin realized just how big and diverse the world was. It startled his still childish mind but also intrigued him to a certain extent. It did the same for Catherine as well, and they both began to grow closer as they walked together on this new road of life. School in the states was much easier than it was back in Japan to say the least of it, and Collin found it astounding how slow people learned. It confused him, but also intrigued him to a certain degree. He didn't have to study as hard in one form or another, and things came intuitively. He started getting into the wrong crowd of kids- some children of other businessmen who found it fun to do other things outside of study and such. Collin's personality warped, and he began to fit himself into this crowd. He probably would have continued down that road, however, during Collin's junior year of high school, Catherine would die.
Collin never knew the exact details even after a series of events that transpired later, but one night, he called Catherine to come take him home from a party- finding himself too drunk to even find the door. Catherine found him and started to walk him home. After that, he has less than good memories. All he could ever remember was that it was dark outside and they were walking home. Catherine told him that they were almost there, and suddenly they were attacked. Blood sprayed, and a face caught Collin's eyes. The next thing he remembered, he was waking up in a bag- a body bag within a morgue to be exact. Disoriented and afraid, Collin fought his container and succeed in getting free much to the horror of the medical examiner who had just walked in and had been about to examine his body in fact. However, the medical examiner would not be able to get a word in. Ravenously, Collin tore into the man and drained him of blood without even thinking about it. When he actually came to his senses, Collin was horrified by what he had done and ended up just trying to escape. He managed it well enough for where he was and ended up getting home. However, when he walked in the door, his parents were sure they were seeing a walking ghost and panicked. Collin panicked as well and ended up breaking quite a few things as his blood lust threatened to take over for a moment. He managed to control it surprisingly well and dropped to the ground begging them to believe it was him- though it might just have been his weakened body still hadn't fully been transformed and strong enough at the time as it was.
When Aoiya realized that her son was in fact alive, she ended up embracing him and crying a lot. She kept repeating that he and Catherine had died, yet he was somehow back. Collin didn't understand it, and as he tried to wrap his mind around what happened in that moment, he got a headache and ended up passing out again. However, the next time Collin 'woke' again, he would find a room full of blood and his parents' mangled corpses shredded across the living room floor. Collin's own teeth were coated in their blood, and figuratively and literally their blood was on his hands. Collin had never been so afraid. He ended up running away as fast as he could never looking back even as he did so. At some point, his fledgling body gave out, and he collapsed again surprisingly at the feet of none other than his creator. His creator- a vampire hunter turned vampire- ended up snagging Collin's body up and taking him away somewhere 'safe' which really meant secluded. When he awakened again, Collin found himself bound up in chains and various other types of bondage with his creator just a few feet away. He recognized the man immediately, and a mesh of memories flooded back to Collin. He screamed and fought yelling absurd things at the man who had robbed him of life. The vampire just beat him in return and told him to be grateful that he hadn't died like his sister and parents had. Something in Collin broke then and there, and something deeper in him died. He had let his sister die and has been the murder of his parents, and realization slammed him like a train.
After that, the days moved slower for Collin. He spent most of them laying on the floor of whatever 'safe' place his creator had decided to take him to, and during this time, he would suffer the worst blood withdrawals he would ever have. They physically ached him and made him violent and rabid. However, he couldn't escape the bondage he had been put under. It was only when he was at the brink of death that his creator would slash at his own wrist and shove blood in his mouth. Despite how much Collin hated it, he would drink his creator's blood ravenously. When he came to again, his creator would tell him that was 'good' for the day but he needed to get 'better'; little did Collin realize this was his creator's way of 'training' him to control his blood lust. As time went on, Collin began to be able to deal with a lack of blood. Some days, he wouldn't even crave it at all and would only go rabid when his creator brought in blood from somewhere- sometimes himself and sometimes in bags.
As time went on, Collin fell into a state of depression often begging the damn man to just end his life and be done with it. The man never would, though, and tended to beat him when he begged for it. Collin didn't care, though. He wanted it to stop; he wanted everything to be over with. He was tired of fighting the idea that he killed his family and the blood lust that drove him berserk against his will. He wanted it to be over, yet the damn man wouldn't let him. It was only weeks after that Collin would snap and manage to break his bonds. Viciously, he fought the other vampire- but said vampire was much stronger than him and beat him down telling him he wouldn't be good enough. Collin broke down several times until finally giving up his attack completely. He couldn't win against this man. The man would give his name in that moment: Zane Harver, and said if Collin ever wanted to try and kill him again, he could do all he pleased. Collin would try every single day after that. His focus became killing that man, but during that time, he was freed from his bondage and taught by Zane how to do various domestic things. "You have to act human, even if you're not" Zane stated a few times. Collin detested these 'lessons' as Zane called them but was forced to put up with them least he be beaten by the other vampire.
At times, Zane would sometimes drag Collin outside making him walk in sunlight among other things in order to 'teach' him his new life. It was during these times that Collin found himself the weakest. Other times, Zane would force Collin into crowds and tell him to 'tolerate' the blood. It was brutal and drove Collin crazy more than a few times. However, he did slowly learn despite how much he hated it. A whole year would pass before a change in this 'training' as Zane often called it would be interrupted. Zane would get into conflict with another vampire who was in the area and would be killed right in front of Collin. The vampire that killed him ended up laughing and telling Collin he was free after that. However, Collin simply didn't know what to do then. His life, his existence, was nonexistant. He was not Collin Walker anymore, and he hadn't been for that entire year. All he'd been was 'Fledgling' as Zane had called him, but now he was unsure of what to do. The man that he hated had been killed, but now what? A part of Collin wanted to end himself there, but he found he feared death, somehow. He feared facing the parents he had killed in the afterlife; he feared seeing the sister he couldn't protect in the afterlife. No, he didn't want that.
Thus, slowly Collin began to walk side by side with Time again. He began to travel sporadically often going to places he hadn't been to or new areas that seemed interesting. Zane's training, though brutal and vicious, taught Collin quite a lot especially how to deal with his own blood lust and what to do when he was about to lose it. Haphazardly, he drank between human blood and animal blood -whichever he could get away with at the time that didn't lead to the death of a human or the change of a human. He refused to be a creator. He refused it. During this time, he would run into various vampires- and even a few werewolves here and there. He didn't know of their existence until his heightened senses alerted him to some change, and it was through this that he engaged them. He avoided them mostly. The thought of a coven, something Zane had mentioned only a few times, scared Collin, and he was much more comfortable with being alone or in a place he could control variables in. Despite this, he would eventually meet a vampiress who took an interest in him- a 'young' woman named Astrid. She and Collin would have a surprisingly decent love relationship. She was cool, crisp, and amusing humor wise. She told him that she wanted to make a coven of her own and that she was traveling around with her brother, Desmond, recruiting people she thought were worthy. She even asked him to be the first true member to join, and it was truly a tempting offer to Collin in that moment. However, it quickly evolved into hate as Collin found that Astrid actually enjoyed killing others one night. All his thoughts on her crashed to the ground, and he grew angry with her. He refused to be a creator but he also refused to be a straight out killer. The memories of his parents and his sister still haunted him, and he refused to continue the vampire cycle as Astrid had called it.
It was all but on accident that Astrid would be killed. It had started with a fight but escalated quickly when both began to use their fangs in fighting. In the middle of battle, Astrid ripped Collin's eyeball out, and he did much the same to her, and when Collin ended up tearing Astrid's head off and effectively killing Astrid, he wasn't done. He ended up shredding her save for her eyeball which he ended up shoving into his own socket. Somehow with the super healing attribute, Collin managed to get his sight back with this new eyeball in tact. However, as he came back to himself only hours after that, Collin realized what he had done. Once again he had murdered, and as he realized this, Collin broke down unable to be consoled for days after that. Even if she was a vampire; she didn't deserve death right up front. He wished there was a way to change things, but there wasn't. There was nothing he could do. Forevermore, he would look in the mirror and find her eye staring back at him. It haunted him for a long time and continues to haunt him just a bit today.
Worst still was Desmond's reaction to Astrid being killed. As calm as the vampire had seemed when he was around, he utterly snapped upon hearing of Astrid's death and the cause of it. He attacked Collin viciously and slashed at him with his fangs. Collin was bitten several times by Desmond before he managed to get away- unable to win against the other vampire's sheer force and trying to escape with what life -or undeath- he could. Collin healed quickly enough after that, but a fear of Desmond burned in him. Despite what he tried to tell himself, he began to fear the other vampire would appear out of the darkness somewhere or something at any moment. Collin grew increasingly paranoid and began to travel much more than before in an effort to avoid Desmond.
Years and years passed, and Collin traveled more and more sporadically. He didn't like settling down and getting to know people. He feared hurting others- or so he told himself- and tended to recluse from them whenever possible. If he had to act like a dick to do it, he would, and thus his personality began to warp slowly but surely. When he needed cash, he worked small jobs here and there but nothing that required him to have a full commitment. However, it was when he was looking for a particular job that he came across an old man working in a Grocery store. The man somehow knew Collin was a vampire but seemed completely fine with it telling him that he could stay as long as he liked and that all would be well. Collin hadn't had a father figure in decades, and thus he ended up accidentally attaching socially to this man. He worked for him and did anything he asked, and the man gave praise and rewards in return. Collin found himself surprisingly happy there despite himself. Ten years passed by, and Collin grew in rank among the afternoon-night shift employees and became a general manager. He hadn't intended to, but somehow it happened. The old man ended up dying and leaving Collin nothing short of the store. Collin hadn't expected it but decided to keep it despite himself. There he worked and managed and owned something that kept him there.
It was years later that Collin would finally work up the nerve to go back to the town his parents and sister had died in. Something in him called for closure, and despite himself, Collin went for it. He found their graves and learned that he had been buried among them, somehow. It physically ached him, and he broke down there at the grave site. However, he was not alone at the graveyard. A young woman who happened to be doing some investigation work there wandered into the cemetery. In a heightened emotional state and weakened from various things, Collin snapped and ended up biting the young woman when she came to close. He made to drink all of her blood but ended up coming to himself before he could finish the job. He pulled away and uttered a single 'oh god'. He would have said more- possibly tried to drain her least he make a fledgling which he had decided was a fate worse than death, but he found her crying there and took unnecessary pity. Despite what he had vowed to do, Collin gave in and forced the woman to drink his blood- effectively turning her into a vampire as well. When she came to herself, the woman detested him. In the next few days, they fought as he tried to figure out what he wanted to do and she came to grasp what she was. Her name, as Collin would come to learn, was Carly, and she wanted him to just go away and never speak to her again. Collin wished that he was fine with this deal, yet he wasn't. He ended up following her around, and when she went berserk in blood lust, he managed to force her down and get her to bite him. It sustained her as his creator's had sustained him at least for a while. They continued to fight here and there, but eventually they became a true creator-fledgling pair as deals of various natures were made.
It was as he began to train Carly- in a far different method that he had been trained considered every time he thought of Zane, he got angry, and though his methods weren't the best, Collin began to help Carly gain control of herself. More and more Collin got to know Carly- learning all of her work and family. She tended to speak of them when she was depressed which tended to trigger his depression to a certain extent as well. They exchanged stories here and there, and he had fun calling her a 'child' despite the fact that she was physically older than him. It was during this time as well that Collin began to realize he was falling for Carly. Her personality was something else. Where he was weak, she was strong. Where he was quiet, she was loud. She was like an opposite, yet she was perfect in it. He wouldn't realize just how much she meant to him for a long time after that, but slowly but surely feelings began to grow. Carly ended up living in a room in the house he had bought above the grocery store, and they would both go about their business more or less once major training was over.
This peace would be disrupted by an unexpected visit from Desmond. After years, he had shown his head again claiming that he had 'found' Collin once again as he had promised to. The older vampire showed up one day in Collin's own house as Collin came home from work. Des attacked and mutilated Collin on the floor of his own living room. Despite his healing ability, Collin's wounds weren't healing quick enough as Des inflicted them, and some part of Collin was sure that he was about to die. When Collin finally gave out, his throat slashed deep by Des, the other vampire promised that he would kill him slowly- as he burned the house around him. Collin just hissed back defiantly despite himself. It was only then that Carly walked in. Des quickly backed up, and Collin tried to tell her to get away- to flee- but he was unable to make a sound. Just as Carly came into the actual living room drenched in Collin's own blood, Collin fainted.
Desmond hid briefly as Carly came in startled and terrified to find Collin that way. However, he spoke out during Carly's cries and began to explain who he was and what he had done. He told her he would leave her alone if she fled, but Carly attacked shortly after that enraged at what had happened. Des was injured badly by Carly during the fight that ensued after that, and though he assured himself that it was because he had been 'playing too much', even when he got serious, her rage was making her stronger still. Finally she forced him back and forced him to flee into the night. However, during the fighting as he lay unconscious on the floor, Collin had slowly healed. His head hadn't been completely taken off, and thus his body managed to close his wounds abet much slower than normal. When he finally came to, he found Carly crying over him. He tried to make a joke, but pain kept him from doing so in that moment.
Oddly enough, this encounter with near death drew Collin closer to Carly. She had defended him and protected him- something he had never expected, and more and more he realized just how much stronger she was than he was. The more he realized that, the more he wanted her to not only be his fledgling as he had often said in the past but also his girl. When he finally asked if they could start officially dating, rather than anything, Carly made a joke that they were already 'married' considering they lived together- despite having two separate rooms and all that. Collin had never face/palmed so hard before, and damn it hurt his face. They did start dating after that, though, and Collin found that despite what he thought he knew about Carly, there was so much more to her that he had yet to fully know. It was interesting how much he had assumed but never really known. He learned a lot more about her family then too- and even went to visit them a few times. Her brother was crazy. Her sister was alright, and her mom was decent or so Collin thought anyways. As time went on more and more, Carly began to push more heavily for engagement and Collin couldn't help but deadpan each time. They had time. They were both part of the undead,damn it all. He blamed it on the fact that she was a woman and did his best to avoid the subject, but she kept bringing it up, sigh.
This went on for a while, but one day, a man showed up at the grocery store asking if Collin knew who he was. Collin certainly didn't recognize the man, and after a moment, the man just laughed and apologized before leaving again. It confused Collin, and paranoia made him uncertain and worried. He ended up talking with Carly about it, but neither one could make heads or tails of it. However, the man showed up again, this time in their house- and attacked. Startled, Collin defended himself and asked what the hell the man wanted, and it was then that this man, Nate, explained himself. He was a former protector of some sort who had decided that 'protecting' wasn't worth it when he watched Collin attack Carly- whom he referred to as a 'defenseless woman'. Despite how strong Nate was, Collin was stronger and fought him back making him leave after that with a decent wound in tow. However, that wasn't the last of Nate, and he ended up tricking Carly and catching her using her to lure Collin out. Collin had never felt so much rage, and he attacked Nate venomously when he found the man again. In his rage, Collin killed Nate. It would be the first time that Collin killed another with no remorse after that. Someone had threatened his woman and would never be allowed to again.
Collin took an injured Carly away from the scene after that, and as she started to try and get him to talk about it- having come to realize Collin did have fears of hurting others, Carly realized Collin's hate was blocking his remorse. It would take a while for Collin to actually realize this about himself, though. Time slowly resumed itself again, and domesticism was in full swing. Collin worked in the gorcery, and Carly worked her job. However, during the aftermath, Collin started to try and get Carly to quit her detective work. He mentally thought it was too dangerous for her but reasoned it out that he had money and she shouldn't have to work anyways. However, Carly seemed to love her job just as she loved Collin and wasn't about to give it up. Despite himself, Collin wasn't able to put up enough protest and finally gave into the idea that he would just have to protect her always.
