 Welcome to Japan, circa 1560CE. It is an age of political upheavals and civil war. The weakest of Japan's three shogunates, the Ashikaga, failed to win the loyalty of the daimyo. Its authority collapsed nearly a century ago, in the aftermath of the Onin War. The country has since fractured as powerful feudal lords carved out petty kingdoms for themselves, but often their ambitious didn't stop there. Then, and now, most daimyo seek to expand their realms and eliminate their rivals.
So, where do you stand in these chaotic times? Would you throw yourself into the fray as a stoic samurai warrior? Manipulate events from the shadows like the ninja? Or maybe your ambitions are a bit loftier, and you aspire toward a lordship.
Maybe you're a cunning merchant looking to turn a profit from all the fighting, or a simple farmer just trying to get by in the world? Perhaps you aren't even human, but of more supernatural origins...
