Valerie climbed the tree where she had her mini tree house thing. She had to start her work for the day and she was going to see if any vampires were in the forest today. She had heard some noises on the walk to the tree that had sounded like a clumsy vampire or an angry one. She got up to the hidden platform that was the best tree house thing she could build and sat down. She took out her laptop and turned it on, yawning as she waited, it was early an early Saturday morning. She hated getting up so early but it was nice to see the sunrise and the forest in the early morning.
She checked her emails like she always did just in case there was an email from Maria or anyone else important. There were no emails and she looked away from her laptop at the sound of a branch breaking off a tree. She went to the edge of the platform and saw a large possum running away from a branch on the ground, it was just a possum. She was about to go back to her laptop when she slipped and ended up hanging from the platform, that was high in the tree. Her fingers slipped after a minute and she grabbed one of the lower branches then jumped to the ground, twisting her ankle.
She wasn't usually a klutz, she was usually very coordinated and never did things like this. She must be having a bad day, a very bad day. She bit her lip as the pain hit and swore loudly, hoping no one heard afterwards. She needed help, she couldn't get up, she had badly twisted her ankle. "Help, help!" She called out, hoping someone would come and help her and hoping that an evil vampire wouldn't find her. She knew there were some vampires that would kill a human happily and some that were nicer about who they fed on.

A girl traveling in the trees heard cries of hurt and sadness. Brianna knew it could be a trick but was generally a kind person. She jumped down landing quitly. She studied the girl. It was obviously a protetteore; her sworn enemy. Brianna was in tight, but simple clothes. She had a sword and dagger for hunting creatures on her belt as well as gadgets of all sorts. She had brown hair and brown eyes and she debated helping her up, but if she was kind enough she'd return the favor and not hurt her. She pulled out a kit and started bandaging up her ankle saying nothing.

Valerie watched as a girl jumped down from the trees, the girl had brown hair and brown eyes and she was carrying weapons. Only older protettores got weapons, Val was still really in training. And the weapons that the girl had, a sword and dagger were the ones Val could see, were not ones that protettores got they were weapons that hunters had. The girl was a hunter, Val felt scared and defenseless, she was injured and in no way could defend herself like this but what surprised her was that the girl started bandaging up her ankle.
The girl didn't talk but she must be kind to help the enemy, Val knew what it felt like to be kind to the enemy, she felt like she was betraying all the protettores. She really like Brendon and he was a hunter, she was breaking a rule by talking to him like she did at least once a week. She looked up at the girl again, she had never seen her before and she wondered who she was. "Who are you?" She asked, her voice was quiet though it still sounded loud in the almost silent forest. She was a little scared that the girl would hurt her but for some reason trusted her a little.

Her face was emotionless. She didn't care if she was caught helping the enemy or not. She didn't care what people thought. Brianna had always followed her own rules anyway. "Brianna Bolton," she told her. She finished it up and put the left over supplies into her belt incase she needed them later. "And if it wasn't obvious, yes, im a hunter." She took out her dagger and carved a B quickly into the nearest tree which was always her mark meaning that she was there. "So," she said still emotionless, "are you gonna let me go free or are we going to have a problem?" she threatened holding onto her sword. She didn't need a reason to be followed or threatened.

Valerie had never heard the girls name before, she obviously wasn't from around here. Everyone knew everyone else's names in a small town like Meander. She slowly got up, leaning on the tree for support. She could stand up now but she would have to rest for a few days unluckily. She saw Brianna carve a B into a tree and wondered why she had done that. She tried to brush some dirt off her jeans with one hand but just shrugged when it didn't come off. She thought about the question for a minute, she wasn't going to hurt the girl and she didn't want the girl to hurt her but of course she didn't want the girl to hurt any creatures, maybe she could make a deal with Brianna.
"I don't want to hurt you or you to hurt me but how about we make a deal, I have to do my job in someway since I'm going to be stuck resting for a couple of days." Val suggested, trying to keep her voice emotionless like the girls but she couldn't, she would have to practice that. "I'll let you go if you promise not to hunt in or near Meander." She folded her arms across her chest leaning on the tree so she wouldn't fall. She hoped Brianna would take the deal so she could go home and get someone to grab her laptop. She would also have to explain why she wont be able to work this weekend.

Brianna knew she could easily decline, this girl was in no position to do anything. And it's not like she could reject her hunting side, it was in her blood. "Sure, I won't hunt any mystical creatures in this area." She was lying but it looked as she wasn't. And of course she only said mystical creatures. She was always on the run and needed to hunt animals for food. Sadely, she hadn't had a good week and she'd munched on berries and nuts the whole week. Her stomach grumbled to prove her thoughts. She hadn't had a good meal for months when a kind lady took her in for dinner. She wished someone would do that again for her, but no one, ecspecially in this area would help her kind. She knew that. "Do you need any help getting up into your house again?" She had the hunting in her blood, but she wasn't cruel. She had always wanted to help and it wasn't fair to leave her down here like that.

Valerie still didn't trust that this hunter, they lied a lot. She would get Maria to look out for the vampires while she was stuck inside and then she would look out for the vamps. She would also get Maria's parents and other protettore living in Meander to keep an eye on the werewolves and warlocks. She and Maria mostly just learnt and protected vampires, they found them the most interesting creatures. She smiled at the Brianna, pretending that she believed the girl wouldn't hunt in or near Meander though she wouldn't believe hunter in a million years. They lied so much and they were bad people, believing that all supernatural creatures were evil.
She nodded, knowing she would probably just fall over again if she walked home by herself. They would have to be careful though, if Maria, her parents or the other protettore (she couldn't remember the mans name) that lived in Meander saw the weapons that wouldn't end well, they would know the girl was a hunter. "Ok, we'll go the back way cause no one can see you, you'll be dead if anyone sees you carrying those weapons and my kind would of course kill you if they saw you." She told Brianna, grabbing a large stick that she could use to help her walk.

Brianna walked over and just picked her up cradling her in her arms. She knew she was pretty strong and when holding a sword in one hand it was much more than this girl. She smiled at her. It kind of felt good helping the enemy. She had never even liked killing she creatures, it was in her blood though and her parents pushed it on her like crazy. That's why she ran away in the first place, to escape hunting, but it hadn't helped much anyway. It was like she was almost addicted to it from doing it as a child. She bit her lip not sure how this girl would react. She undid her belt drapped her weapons to the ground. She still had the dagger attached to her ankle but she wouldnt use it. The only reason she hadnt dropped it was her hand were full. "I promise, I wont hurt you." That was the truth (thats why she pulled back fire at the vampire when Valerie entered) She kicked leaves onto her weapons. that was the stupidest thing for a hunter to do. They were practicallyy ttaught to rely on their weapons and without them she had slim to no defense. But she wanted this girl to trust her completly. She walked a few steps waiting to see if she'd lead the way.

Valerie gasped when the girl picked her up, she had not been expecting that at all. Her eyes were panicked but she didn't try and move away from the girl because of what she did next. Val watched with wide eyes as Brianna dropped all her weapons, a hunter is never suppose to drop their weapons, they are defenseless without them. She nodded but she still didn't completely trust the hunter, there was only one hunter she trusted completely and that was Brendon of course. She started to direct Brianna around the back way to her house so they wouldn't have to go through town, even without the weapons you could kind of tell the girl was a hunter.

She eventually got to her house and laid her on the bed. She smiled. She missed her old home but her lifestyle was fitting of her job now. She smiled again sad to leave her. But her stomach grumbled and she knew shed have to check her traps. She couldn't make a fire with all these protettores around so shed have to eat it raw or make jerky. "Well, I guess Ill be off." She actually felt like tearing up. "I guess i hope you heal up well, and until then......feel better. I hope we meet again." She waved and walked to the door not wanting to leave her beautiful home and face.

Valerie sat up on her bed, it was too early to lie down. Her foster parents would be home soon so she would have to tell them that she fell over when she was bush walking and she'd have to ring Maria to explain to her and her parents why she wouldn't be working for the next couple of days. She heard the girls stomach grumble, she wondered what this girl ate, Val was guessing that this girl was a traveler with home and the travelers usually hunted for food. "My foster parents aren't protettores so if you want you can stay for lunch." The girl had been so helpful, she needed to help her somehow. She smiled and picked up her mobile then texted Maria telling her to grab her laptop and keep it at her house. She would call Maria when Brianna left and get her to bring her laptop back.

She turned around and smiled. She just really needed a friend sometimes. She clipped her ankle belt throwing three more daggers on the floor and a pocketknife out of her bra tossing it all in a pile in the corner. "Couldnt get those while I was holding you." She pulled out a bret and put it up in her hair looking quite cute. She dusted off her clothes trying to look somewhat presentable. She hadn't been civilized in so long. She was happy someone was generous enough to give her a dry roof for an hour or two and warm meal. "Thank you so much," she thanked her with all her life. This meant the world to her.

Valerie smiled, happy that she was helping someone even if it was a hunter. She frowned at the weapons she took out though, they would have to be hidden. "Put the weapons under my bed so there's no chance of my foster parents seeing them." She told Brianna, not wanting her foster parents to freak out. They would be happy to see Val had made a new friend and that would be a good thing. She may hate her foster parents but she was still kind to them and she always did what they told her except when they said she wasn't allowed to go out. She would sneak out knowing she had her job to do. She heard the front door open and smiled, her foster parents were home.

Brianna jammed them under her bed and smiled. She sat onto her bed and said hi to her parents. "Hello, it's nice to meet you. I'm Brianna Bolton. I'm one of her friend's." She hadnt actually learned the girl's name yet. Her stomach growled again and she giggled sweetly. "Sorry, I havn't eaten all day." She actually looked like a really sweet normal girl. That hadnt been something they taught her, that had been her actual side before her parents taught her nothing but killing.

Valerie told her foster parents that she had fallen while bush walking and Brianna had helped her and that was why she had a twisted ankle. Then they left the room to get lunch ready. "I guess I haven't told you my name, I'm Valerie." She introduced herself but she really didn't want the hunter to know her name, she still couldn't completely trust her. "Just a question, what do you normally eat?" She asked, curious. She wondered if Brianna actually hunter normal animals as well for food, that was a gross thought but was most likely true.
