:: Carly Janette Evans:: Basics!::AGE: 28; perpetually stuck at 21 though she appears younger ::BIRTHDAY: August 18th ::GENDER: Female ::SEXUALITY: Bisexual, leans more towards men - engaged to Collin Walker ::FACE CLAIM: Ashley Benson ::MEMBER GROUP: Vampire ::JOB: Detective ::LANGUAGES SPOKEN: Japanese, English, some ItalianPersonality!::LIKES:- Strawberries-Even now that she is a vampire, Carly has always had an odd obsession with strawberries. Despite her inability to eat human foods anymore that doesn’t stop her from enjoying the scent of the berry at the very least. So what if eating the fruit in question might make her sick, that’s no reason to stay away from it.
- Country Music-Though it might seem a bit odd for a city girl, Carly has always loved 'good old fashioned country songs' as she calls them. Having grown up in a small town, the songs remind her of home and the life that she was forced to abandon upon her transformation. She actually has a fairly decent voice that has a slight 'country twang' that she can't seem to shake no matter what she tries.
- Mind Games- Nothing makes Carly happier than messing with people's minds. She has an uncanny knack of being able to know what a person does for a living (among other things) simply by what they are wearing and what accessories adorn them. This sixth sense of sorts has only been heightened with her increased awareness of her surroundings due to her transformation.
- Learning something new- Knowledge is power, or at least that is what Carly has come to believe during her years as an amateur detective. Nothing excites her more than finding out something that she didn't know before. The world revolves around information after all; it's how you use that knowledge that really matters. When Carly does find something she doesn't understand or foreign to her she is prone to looking up anything and everything she can on the subject to the point of near obsession.
- Collin- Though their relationship might have gotten off to a rocky start (to put it mildly), Carly honestly can’t imagine what her life would be like without him. She’s rather…loud when it comes to admitting she likes him more than just a little and doesn’t care who’s around when she does so. Carly is admittedly tired of Collin’s all too obvious evasiveness when it comes to the subject of marriage after being together for so long despite the fact that they’ll live forever. Sure Collin’s argument that they have ‘all the time in the world’ is accurate but Carly is far from patient when it comes to such things.
- Canines- Carly grew up around dogs and has always had a fascination with wolves especially. As a human she thought the idea of being able to transform into a wolf would be amazing but believed werewolves were only myths or legends as her parents repeatedly told her, possibly in an effort to keep her from becoming one herself. Even now that she’s a vampire her love for wolves, dogs, or any other dog-like creature hasn’t changed and she has a tendency to
stalk follow any werewolves she finds. So what if vampires and werewolves are supposedly enemies, that doesn’t mean she has to hate them all of a sudden.
::DISLIKES:- Being thought of as weak- If there’s one thing that Carly hates, it’s being seen as a weakling simply because of her height. So what if she looks like a child, it’s certainly not her fault that genetics decided to give her a child-like appearance. Carly constantly strives to better herself, pushing herself further and spends numerous hours training just to avoid being called weak. Having grown up with an elder brother and father who knew how to fight, Carly has always been determined to be just as good as the guys lest she be a disappointment to them.
- Ignorance- Since she was a young girl, Carly always had a love for learning and strove to learn everything she could. She absolutely despises those who would be content to just pass by and has little patience for fools such as these. Perhaps because of this Carly hates it when someone shows that she is ignorant of something. Nothing drives her up the wall faster than knowing that a secret is being kept from her and is prone to becoming violent if she can’t figure it out or if her other, more persuasive, methods are useless.
- Losing- One thing that Carly will not do is admit defeat; to admit defeat is to recognize that you are weaker than your opponent. Whether it is a physical battle or a battle of wits, Carly will use whatever means necessary to ensure that she is victorious, no matter how underhanded it may be. She has no qualms about stabbing people in the back or using her knowledge to find out secrets she knows all too well they would prefer to be kept secret.
- Night- Though it may seem odd for a vampire to hate night, Carly honestly fears it. Ever since her dad was murdered before her eyes as a young girl she has been terrified of going outside at night and even still has trouble going outside when it’s dark out. True, she’s not as afraid of the darkness that night brings since her transformation but it is not such an easy thing to let go of sixteen years of fear.
- Murderers- Ever since the horror she witnessed as a young girl, Carly has both hated and feared those that would kill for no good reason other than to see others suffer. That incident is what spurred her to become a detective in the first place and hunt down those who had hurt her so badly. Now that she is a vampire she detests those that would kill mindlessly and swore not to kill, even if it meant starving herself. In Carly’s eyes there is no good reason to take another life no matter what the circumstances may be.
- Liars- Carly despises liars and has little patience for those who would choose to do so. Since her transformation she is able to easily pick out the signs that indicate when she is being lied to or deceived. Once she realizes this, Carly will play along for a short time before pointing it out or drawing them into a trap.
::HABITS:- Twirling her hair- A nervous habit that began when she was a young girl, Carly is hardly conscious when she is doing now. Somehow the feel of her hair slipping through her hands is soothing and helps take her mind off of whatever is worrying her at the time. Whenever she realizes that she is doing it however she quickly stops and tries to change the subject or move away from whatever’s making her nervous.
- Spinning- Whenever she gets excited Carly tends to spin in a circle and squeal much like a child would; she simply can’t help herself when she gets excited. Despite how much she despises being called a child whenever she gets excited or even hyper she tends to slip into the persona of a child.
- Hoarding stuffies- Perhaps this started when she was given the Buneary by her birth mother that she still carries to this day. Nonetheless, Carly tends to
hoard collect stuffed animals that are cute or remind her of home. Don’t expect her to admit that she does so however, it is one of her greatest secrets and will deny that she does so until the end of time despite the evidence against the claim. - Being childish- Having found out that it’s easier to get the information she wants when acting like a child, Carly is prone to slipping into her child persona every so often. It makes it easier to get away with things that adults would get in trouble over or find out information that would otherwise be kept secret from her. Occasionally when she gets agitated or flustered she’ll slip into this childlike persona and throw temper tantrums but otherwise she is very much aware of when she does this and uses it as a means to an end.
::STRENGTHS:- Hyper Perception- Carly is able to take in and evaluate her surroundings very quickly and this ability has only been enhanced due to her transformation into a vampire. She is likened to Sherlock Holmes with the way she is able to tell what a person has been doing and where they have been just by looking at them. Some may find this unnerving and Carly knows all too well when she has made someone uneasy. She’s quite a troll and very much enjoys watching people squirm when she points something out that they may or may not have been trying to keep a secret.
- Analytical- Due to her ability to perceive things that others may not, Carly has trained herself to analyze everything around her. Having learned the hard way to never let her guard down, Carly rarely lets anything get past her; as a result it is exceedingly difficult to catch her in most circumstances.
- Intelligent- Due to her love for knowledge, Carly has learned a lot over the years and prides herself on being able to answer most any question. She is able to think quickly on her feet in most situations and knows when she is in over her head even though she hates to admit it. Considering she learned exactly how cruel the world was at a young age, she isn’t easily deceived and as a result can be considered both ‘street smart’ and ‘book smart’ due to her upbringing and near obsession with learning.
- Courageous- Not one to back down from a challenge, Carly won’t back down so easily even if the circumstances are less than ideal. With a determination that borders on recklessness, Carly will face whatever comes her way without thinking of her own safety. This is especially true where Collin, or others she cares about are concerned; Carly will put her life on the line if it meant that there was even the slightest chance that she could save them.
- Kind- Though she may not seem like it at first, Carly truly does have a kind heart and hates to see others suffer. She believes that nobody should have to suffer because of her and hates to see some senseless act of violence hurt others. In truth, she hates what she has become and the fact that she now has to kill in order to survive. Despite this, Carly will go out of her way to lend a helping hand if it is within her means to do so.
- Confident- Too put it simply, Carly knows that she is good and doesn’t give a damn what others say. To try and shake this confidence is almost impossible but it certainly can be done. Once Carly sets her mind on something that she believes she can do, there is no backing down no matter what the circumstances may be.
::WEAKNESSES:- Proud- As it is said, pride comes before the fall and Carly is no exception. She absolutely refuses to admit defeat even when doing so would be better in the long run. It’s this pride that has often made her abstain from blood if only to make sure that she doesn’t have to kill as she has sworn to do from the beginning.
- Bravado- Though Carly may talk a good game, even she knows her limits and puts up a false confident front when she gets nervous or begins to lose hope. Perhaps she believes that if she says it often enough it will come true but that remains to be seen. In Carly’s eyes, a little white lie about her confidence in her abilities is far better than admitting defeat. Should someone call her out on this, Carly will deny it and will evade any further questioning on the matter.
- Joker- When things get serious or seem hopeless Carly has a tendency to joke or make light of the situation. It’s more of a defense mechanism than anything else really. It’s easier to believe that things really aren’t that bad rather than admit that she screwed up or is in over her head.
- Restless- Carly can never sit still for very long and tends to grow impatient when made to wait too long. She’s almost always on the move as a result, constantly finding new things to do in order to keep her mind occupied.
- Distrustful- Trust is something earned and not so easily given and that is exactly how Carly sees it. Experience has shown her that people in general are not to be trusted and thus she is rather guarded upon first meeting her.
- Rebellious- Since she was young, Carly has never liked it when anyone told her what to do. Should anyone so much as try to order her around she is prone to violence or snapping back rather harshly. If anyone who is not in a position of authority attempts to order her around it will most certainly not bode well for them.
- Quick Temper- Though she may not look it, Carly is actually very self-conscious about her appearance, especially where her height is concerned. This along with how impatient she is only serves to act as more triggers for her already quick and fierce some temper. The smallest insult is enough to set her off though nothing triggers her anger more quickly than hurting her friends or preying on the innocent. When Carly is angry she is prone to rash decisions and doesn’t always think rationally.
::OVERALL PERSONALITY: Quite the little actress, Carly allows others to think of her as a little kid, sometimes carrying around a stuffed animal for show. She comes off as innocent and naïve to most people she meets but this is only a means to an end. Being seen as a child makes adults more comfortable around her (for the most part) and more likely to drop their guard and say something that they generally wouldn’t if another adult were present. Her height also works to her advantage, allowing her to hide into small places and listen in on conversations without being seen, which is something ideal for investigating she enjoys doing. Carly likes to play the innocent young girl because it gives her an advantage and makes others underestimate her, thus allowing her to use them as she sees fit or take them by surprise should the need arise.
Carly plays up the fact that she appears younger than she really is because it allows her to get away with a lot of things. Not all of this is just an act though; Carly does in fact have quite the obsession for stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes and has quite the collection back at home, though this is one of her best kept secrets. The only plushy she brings with her is a Buneary plushy that looks like it’s seen some better days, but when Carly is scared hugging ‘Mr. Fluffles’ is sometimes the only thing that can calm her down if Collin isn’t around at the time. Most of the time though, this rather child-like side to Carly remains hidden as she doesn’t want anyone else finding out. Other than this, Carly is known to have small ‘tantrums’ when overly stressed or panicked but this rarely happens.
When Carly has her mind set on something she is bound and determined to accomplish it no matter what she may have to do. She is rather stubborn and once her mind is made up, there’s no changing it unless there’s a good reason for doing so. Though she may look like a child, Carly despises being thought of as weak unless she’s purposely acting as such. Otherwise, Carly is very quick to point out that she can take care of herself despite her appearance. Carly is a little spitfire and actually enjoys getting into fights, no matter what the stakes. Due to her black belt in karate and small pistol, Carly can fight rather well when she needs to, but prefers more … subtle tactics when dealing with people, usually black mail and threats, before fighting. After all, why waste energy when someone can just as easily be persuaded to cooperate with black mail … of course, all bets are off when Carly is in a foul mood as she can be a little unpredictable.
Carly pays special attention to her clothes and hair and likes to keep track of the latest styles and trends. She is rather vain to say the least and tries to keep her hair, nails, and clothes in perfect order in case she would need to impress someone or use…other means to convince someone to tell her what they know. Carly is a horrible tease and loves to watch people squirm when they’re uncomfortable. Very little actually fazes her when she is teased in return as a result, in fact she enjoys it and tends to treat it as if it were a game. However, if someone should purposely mess up her hair or tease her about her about her appearance, she grows angry and increasingly violent the longer such things continue.
Needless to say most of what other people see when they first meet Carly is nothing but a front. In reality she is very self-conscious and constantly strives to prove herself to others. It’s true she’s confident in her abilities however this confidence was shaken rather badly when she was beaten down so easily by Collin. It didn’t matter if she was human or not; Carly should have been stronger…if she had been then she wouldn’t have been changed into the monster she is today. Carly hates the fact that she has to kill in order to survive and would rather die of starvation then kill another person. Had it not been for Collin, Carly would have either died of starvation or gone rabid and done the very thing she despised.
This self-destructive behavior isn’t just as a result of becoming a vampire however. In fact, ever since she was young, Carly has been nigh obsessed with bringing those who murdered her father to justice. In fact, it is this obsession that has always driven her and even still drives her even if she is now a monster herself. Truthfully, Carly doesn’t know what she will do once she finally does find her father’s murderers but will do whatever it takes to see that they are brought to justice, even if it means resorting to killing: the one thing she has sworn never to do. Until that time comes, Carly puts little value on her own life and would willingly lay down her life for those she cares about. After all, what value could her ‘life’ hold now that she’s a monster. ::HISTORY: From the very beginning it seemed that Carly was destined for trouble; born to a poor family residing on the outskirts of a small town, there was nothing truly special about the Evans family. Robert was a small town doctor that worked late nights in order to make ends meet and Stacy was a stay-at-home-mom after recently being laid off by her job a few months prior to Carly being born. The little girl was a joy to her parents and it seemed that whenever they were together all their problems seemed to vanish, if only for a little while. As Carly grew, it became apparent that she was a little adventurer, even as a toddler she loved to investigate things and see how things worked or hide in places where almost nobody could find her (which almost gave her parents a heart attack on several occasions). Despite all of this, Robert and Stacy loved their daughter dearly, though they worried about what trouble she would get into at times.
As Carly grew, her parents continued to keep a close eye on her though it became apparent the she was capable of taking care of herself, even at a young age. When her parents tried to help her out, Carly would always insist that she could do it herself, only asking for help after she had failed several times. One warm summer day when Carly was about two-years old, Stacy was playing with her daughter when she felt a sudden pain in her chest and stopped. Robert saw something was wrong and told Carly to wait inside the house before moving to help Stacy; Carly nodded and went into the house without an objection. Moments later it became apparent that Stacy had had a heart attack, but by this point there was nothing Robert could do to help, not without rushing her to the hospital which was miles away from the house. Even so, Robert did his best to help Stacy and carried her to the house where he laid her in bed before giving her some medicine from his supplies.
Calling Carly up to the room, Robert told their daughter that her mom was very sick and the Carly needed to be very good and listen to her. Stacy hugged Carly and gave her a Buneary plushy (which was promptly named Mr. Fluffles). Carly squealed with delight at the presents and hugged her mother before running outside to play with them; a few days later, Stacy passed away in her sleep. When Robert woke up the next morning to find Stacy was gone, he resolved to move out of the house closer to where he worked so that something like this wouldn’t happen again.
After moving to the city, Carly spent more time with her dad and even helped him out at work, or at least tried to help. Most times, when she wasn’t practicing her karate, she would just wander around, exploring the area and even listening in on other conversations (despite her father’s objections) when she was bored. In fact, Carly got so good at hiding just so she could listen in that her father eventually stopped trying to tell her not to eavesdrop and instead told her to look into being an investigator. Not knowing what an investigator was, Carly questioned her father about what they did and soon became enthralled with the idea of becoming one. Soon, Carly started trying to solve ‘mysteries’ around Robert’s work, it wasn’t until later that she would stumble across a real mystery.
As the years passed, Carly continued to improve her methods of investigating and was known as quite the little prodigy for being able to find out information so quickly. Though of course looking younger than she really was helped Carly considerably in finding out the information she needed because although she was 8-years old now; Carly looked as if she was around 5. One day when she was hiding in one of her usual places, Carly overheard a group of men talking about stealing something very valuable. Alarmed, Carly waited until she was sure the men had gone away and ran to tell her father about what she had overheard. Little did Carly know that one of the men did indeed see her, despite her attempts to hide from them and followed her to where Robert was working. When Carly reached the hospital where her dad worked, she ran to tell him what she had overheard, hoping to stop the men from stealing the item. When Robert heard what Carly had to say, he immediately called the police and informed them of what ‘he’ had just heard in order to protect his daughter from danger.
That night when Robert and Carly left home from work, they were surrounded by a group of men; the same men whom Carly had overheard talking earlier. Carly, not having seen the men that were talking earlier didn’t realize what was going on but simply hid behind her dad, frightened at the men that were looking at her with hate in their eyes. When one of the men spoke, asking if this was the girl that they’d seen running away earlier, Carly’s eyes grew wide and she pulled on her dad’s shirt, hugging Mr. Fluffles closer to her as she always did when frightened. Robert stepped in front of Carly and asked the men if he could help them, the men ordered Robert to stand aside because they wanted the girl; he refused and told Carly to run. Too frightened to do as she was told, Carly stood there, eyes wide as she gripped her father’s shirt. The men sneered at Robert and advanced on him, some of them brandishing bats while others had knives and guns. Seeing the men heading towards her and her father, Carly finally did hear Robert’s pleas to run and hide and ran, still holding her Buneary close, but not before she heard her father’s cries of pain as the men started to beat him. Turning, Carly yelled at the men to stop only to see one of the men aim his gun and shoot her father who crumpled to the ground, motionless.
Too shocked to do anything but stare at her father’s motionless body, Carly didn’t see the men coming towards her until it was too late to get away; the last thing Carly remembered seeing was stars as one of the men knocked her unconscious with a baseball bat. When Carly woke up, she saw a stranger standing in front of her fighting off the men that had killed her father. Still dizzy from where the man hit her, Carly didn’t understand what was going on as she drifted in and out of consciousness. When Carly next awoke, the stranger had fended off all the men and now a blue-haired boy was next to him, looking down at her. Bursting into tears, Carly clung to the boy, and blubbered out what had happened. The boy, whom she later found out, was Lyall, held Carly until she stopped crying and told her everything was going to be all right. After she had calmed down somewhat, Carly realized that there was a stranger standing next to Lyall and stared at him for a moment before murmuring her thanks. Holding Mr. Fluffles closer to her, Carly clung to Lyall, too scared to do much else.
After this, Lyall took Carly to his home where his parents took care of her; Carly remained quiet for some time after this, only speaking when spoken to or when Lyall was around. She followed Lyall around constantly (much to his annoyance), wanting to know where he went every day and watched him train. This continued for several months until Carly got up the courage to ask Lyall if she could train with him. At first Lyall declined but after a few days of her asking, finally agreed and started to teach Carly how to use a sword starting with a small wooden sword. At first the training was rather difficult for her (seeing as she wasn’t used to the sword) but Carly refused to give up and soon grew more skilled at using the practice sword.
As the years passed Carly, now 15, was becoming more headstrong and independent, running off on her own more often than not. On one of these occasions she came back with a rose tattoo on her lower back just because she thought it looked cool. It was around this time that Carly began to have nightmares again about the night her father had been killed, most nights she would wake up crying, clinging to Mr. Fluffles while trying to tell herself it had only been a dream. These reoccurring nightmares made her bound and determined to find the man who had killed her father. Not knowing where the man might be, Carly asked Lyall if he could help her find him. After some convincing, Lyall and Alexis (who had been listening in) both agreed to help find the man.
Returning to her old home for the first time since she was first found by Lyall years ago, Carly was surprised at how quickly the memories came back to her. It wasn’t long before Carly led Lyall and Alexis to the hospital that her dad used to work at so that she could retrace her steps on that night. Soon, Carly approached the spot where the men had surrounded her and her father that night and stopped cold in her tracks. There was a dark stain just barely visible on the ground where she had seen her father fall … after all these years, the evidence still remained. Carly’s knees felt weak when she saw the stain on the ground and averted her eyes from it, scanning the area for any evidence if any still remained at all. It was then she spotted the glint of metal not very far away from the spot where her father fell hidden beneath some crates and barrels as if it had been kicked there on purpose.
Heading over to the where she saw the object, Carly removed some of the crates to see what the glimmer was. After she had removed the last crate, Carly nearly dropped the crate she was holding when she saw what the object was: a gun, possibly the same gun that had killed her father. Setting down the crate, Carly picked up the gun and examined it, there were no stains on it and even though it didn’t appear to be in the best condition, it certainly didn’t seem that worse for the wear. If she could trace the owner of this gun back to the man … then she would be able to find him, but … what then. Turning to show the gun to Lyall, Carly told him who she thought the gun belonged to and placed the gun into her bag, planning to use it to track down her father’s killer if at all possible.
The next few years passed by in a blur for Carly, bound and determined to get stronger, she continued to train with Lyall in order to improve her skill with a blade while secretly practicing with the gun on her own time. Carly had been able to convince someone to help her restore the gun so that it worked magnificently, the man had even thrown in some ammo for the gun so she would be able to practice with it right away. The sword was good for one on one fights true, but if there was more than one person a gun worked quickly and efficiently … though when it came down to it, Carly wasn’t quite sure if she would be able to pull the trigger. Even still, Carly continued to practice with both the gun and the sword until she was confident enough with both.
On Carly’s 18th birthday, she was given her first sword as a present and a reward for working so hard. Surprised, Carly squealed with delight and hugged Lyall before going outside and practicing with the new sword, marveling at how balanced it felt when compared to the old sword she had been using before. It was long before she was sparring with Lyall again as usual, determined to beat him with her new sword but as usual, he won but not as easily as before (something which Carly made a point of telling him).
The years passed in a blur and soon enough Carly had started her own private detective agency of sorts. One day while following a lead Carly came on the scene just as her contact was killed. Enraged, she quickly gave chase with the hopes that the bastards would know at least something about what the victim had known. Unfortunately for her she ended up in getting lost in a strange city just as night was beginning to approach. Without knowing the history of the town…or really anything about it, Carly was in the dark quite literally and finally gave up her search lest she be caught unawares.
After a few days of wandering around town, Carly was finally able to pick up on the trail of the culprits who had killed her contact almost a week prior. Now that she was so close to finally being able to find something about what had happened that night years ago, Carly was excited to say the least. Perhaps if she had stopped to make a plan before charging straight into a possible ambush she might have avoided the unfortunate events that followed but Carly was far too impatient to do so. Thus as soon as she heard where the bastards had gone, she immediately went out to search for them and found herself in the cemetery where they were supposedly seen last.
Night was fast approaching but Carly hoped to at least find some clue before heading back to the hotel where she had been staying, hoping to remain in town for only a few days while she searched for her prey. Even still, Carly was admittedly a little apprehensive at the idea of being in a cemetery at night and hoped to find what she was looking for and leave. Thankfully it didn’t seem like anyone else was in the area so there was no need to be careful; a mistake that Carly would immediately regret. The next thing she knew she was pinned to the ground by a giant of a man with surprising strength; no matter how much she struggled she simply couldn’t break free… Shortly thereafter teeth broke skin and Carly could feel her life slowly ebbing away and along with any hope that she could survive this ordeal. It seemed fate had other things in store for her however as the vampire pulled away moments before draining her completely. In all honesty, Carly was relieved that she wasn’t going to die but this lasted for all of two seconds before the painful transformation began. Instead, she found herself mentally pleading the stranger to kill her as tears of helplessness and frustration streamed down her cheeks. Anything would be better than the horrible pain that she was going through right then…it felt as if her insides were being rearranged. The pain was excruciating to put it mildly and Carly knew that there was no way that she would be able to get away…besides that the blood loss she had sustained certainly wouldn’t help matters…why didn’t he just kill her already… Seconds felt like hours to Carly as she desperately wished that relief would come but to no avail; instead she felt something icy and metallic enter her mouth and gagged, trying to get whatever it was out. Even with this some of what would later be identified as the vampire’s blood was ingested which helped ease the pain a bit. Realizing that the pain had lessened slightly, Carly willingly drank the rest of the ‘medicine’ that was given to her until she was able to move at least a little.
Not wanting to remain at the stranger’s mercy any longer, Carly forced herself up and managed to back up a short distance away. In her current state Carly knew all too well that she wouldn’t be able to fend the vampire off and instead glared at him with all the hate and defiance she could muster. Unfortunately her death glare had little effect on the man before her who simply stared at her for a moment before approaching her and starting to pick her up. Carly vainly tried to get away, to do something…anything to get away but with as weak as she was there was nothing she could do. Somewhere along the way Carly lost consciousness and when she eventually came to she was lying in a bed in a strange room she’d never seen before. Thankfully the agonizing pain that she had endured was gone and with a quick glance around the room she saw the window and took the opportunity to escape. For someone who had just assaulted and kidnapped her it was rather foolish to leave her free and unbound if he had meant to keep her there. She didn’t get very far however before the man found her and dragged her back quite literally kicking and screaming back to the house. This pattern would continue for the next few days until one day a group of humans had the misfortune to cross Carly’s path during one of her regular escape attempts. She had been so busy concentrating on trying to get away that she had essentially been starving herself, refusing to listen to her accursed creator, Collin any more than she had to. Collin reached her in time however and wrestled her to the ground whereupon Carly bit him and drained him of almost all his blood. After realizing what she had almost done, Carly was much more cooperative and began to listen to Collin and slowly but surely learned how to control her new found powers and the blood lust that came with it.
As time went on Carly found herself actually beginning to like Collin’s company. At first she played it off as nothing but as the two talked she realized just how similar they were in more ways than one. Sure he drove her up a wall sometimes, especially when he called her a child when he knew how much she hated it. Despite all this there was something about Collin that drew her to him time and time again until Carly finally admitted to herself that she was falling for him. Nobody had ever seen her before and accepted it for what it was, welcomed it even…how ironic it was that she had to become a vampire before finding someone who saw her for more than just a child. Once Collin finally declared that he was done teaching her, Carly grew began to grow restless and sought other ways to occupy her time. She had never once forgotten the thrill of the chase that came with solving a crime or mystery of sorts and sought out the local authorities and eventually became a detective within the agency due to her past experience.
Time passed and eventually Carly grew used to residing with Collin, even enjoying his company when he wasn’t driving her up the wall. She enjoyed coming ‘home’ after a long day of work and be able to relax and not worry about life…it almost reminded her of being human really; little did she know that this peace of sorts would be shattered all too soon. Carly had just gotten off of work and went home to hopefully surprise Collin by coming home a little earlier than usual. As soon as she approached the house however, Carly knew something was wrong…she could smell blood…Collin’s blood and…something else. Dashing towards the house, Carly all but burst in the door and was greeted by the sight of Collin mutilated and covered in blood. For a few moments all she could do was stand there, shocked and confused but more than that she was scared…no…terrified that she might lose him. It was shortly after this that another vampire whom introduced himself as Desmond appeared and explained the situation, even going so far as to grant her permission to flee.
Carly listened to what the elder vampire had to say with the appearance of calm while in reality every word from Desmond was making her burn with anger. Like hell she was going to run, this monster had broken into their home and nearly killed Collin, what kind of person would she be if she turned tail and ran. Sure she may live to see another day but Carly would never be able to live with herself and the knowledge of what she had done…or rather had chosen not to do. Enraged, Carly lunged at Desmond, determined to kill him if she was able to, he was going to pay for hurting Collin the way he had. Carly’s anger fueled her determination and gave her the strength she needed to fend Desmond off. Eventually the elder vampire fled the scene, badly wounded, just as Carly reached the last of her strength and dropped to her knees beside Collin. Even after all that she hadn’t been able to save him…dammitall if only she had come home sooner than this wouldn’t have happened… Tears that she was hardly aware of streamed down her cheeks as she stared at Collin’s still form, desperately wishing that she would wake up from this nightmare. This was no dream however, and Collin was gone…forever…just when Carly had been about to give up hope, Collin’s eyes opened much to Carly’s relief. Not caring what he thought, Carly cut her own wrist and gave him some of her blood hoping that at least would ease some of the pain he had endured.
After this incident Carly grew closer to Collin, having just realized how much the thought of losing hurt beyond belief. Even with his constant reassurances that he was alright it would be some time before Carly so much as let him out of her sight out of fear that Desmond might return. There was no way in hell she was going to come back to see Collin in that state again…not if she had anything to say about it. When Collin did eventually ask her out, Carly was admittedly a little shocked and tried to cover it with some snide comment about them practically being married already. This resulted in Collin face/palming rather hard before Carly explained that she was teasing him and agreed to date officially. Carly enjoyed getting to know the real Collin and was actually quite surprised at how little she had known about him before. Certainly she had made assumptions and had guessed about what was true based on what she had known but Collin was…something else. As time went on, Carly began to wonder where the relationship was going and questioned Collin on it a few times only to have the question evaded. Each and every time the question was brought up Collin explained that they had all the time in the world and there was no rush. His reasoning was logical but then again Collin had been a vampire for a much longer time than she had whereas Carly still had a tendency to think in human terms where time was concerned.
Things went on like this for a while until Collin came home from work and questioned her about a man he’d met at the grocery store. Confused, Carly explained that she had no memory of meeting the man or anybody resembling him before and decided to look into the matter herself. Something just didn’t seem right….why would a stranger that neither of them knew ask if Collin recognized him. Without a name to match the face it was rather difficult to find out who had approached Collin at his store but eventually Carly succeeded in putting a name to the face and returned home just as Nate fled. Alarmed, Carly questioned Collin about it and found out the reason why Nate seemed so intent on killing him. More determined than ever, Carly began to search for Nate in earnest, he was surprisingly easy to find and had she not been so obsessed with ending this Carly might have realized that she was being lured into a trap. Deciding to try and take care of the man herself, Carly told Collin she was leaving for work and set out to find Nate and end things herself. Unfortunately Nate seemed to be waiting for her and though Carly did her best to fight him off was rendered unconscious to be used as bait for Collin. Not too long after this, Collin came and killed Nate in a rage which would certainly have surprised, if not shocked Carly had she been conscious at the time. When she did finally regain consciousness, she was all too relieved to find Collin was alright, never mind that she had been injured, Collin was fine and that was all that mattered.
Carly later found out that Nate had been killed during the confrontation and tried to get Collin to talk about what had happened. It was all too clear to her that something was bothering him after recent events and Carly wanted to help if she was able. She eventually did get him to talk about it and along with it realized that Collin too had a fear of harming others much as she did herself. Things returned to a sense of normalcy shortly after this as the two continued to grow closer even with Collin trying to get her to quit her job. True they didn’t need the money per say but it was certainly better than sitting around the house doing nothing all day. Carly honestly didn’t know what she would do with her time if she didn’t have her current job and explained this to Collin. She loved Collin dearly but she also loved the work she did and knowing that she was making a difference, at least in part. Eventually Collin gave into her reasoning much to her delight and things once again returned to normal as it had been before. ::ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE: Michiko honestly had no idea what she was doing or why she had decided to go in the first place. She had heard about the ball and had thought it sounded like fun by the way the other students and teachers had described it. At the very least it had warranted enough curiosity for Michi to be walking towards the ballroom right then and there. Several times along the way she had second guessed herself and nearly bolted back to the safety of her dorm room. The only thing that stopped her from doing so each time was Sora as he pulled her hair and scolded her. Unlike Michi, Sora was looking forward to seeing what this ball looked like. The little blue-jay had certainly heard enough of the students talk about it to want to know what all the excitement was about.
As she walked down the hallway Michi swore everyone in the vicinity would be able to hear the pounding of her heart. Once more she stopped and tried to turn back only to feel the same painful tug on her hair as Sora protested the action. How many times had she had she tried to go back now...well, not counting just then it had probably been five times now... Why was she doing this anyway...certainly there would be a lot of people in the ballroom and Michi simply couldn't handle crowds for long periods of time. It didn't matter that she had already shielded her mind, blocking off any and all emotions from reaching her, Michi simply was too scared. There was no guarantee her shield would last the entire time she was in the ballroom and if there was a lot of people there she simply wouldn't be able to handle it.
Once more Michi tried to leave, but she was only able to get so far by ignoring Sora pulling her hair before she felt a sharp peck on her hand. Yelping in surprise as much from pain, Michi stopped and leered at the bluejay before sighing and turning towards the ballroom once again. Her footsteps echoed in the otherwise vacant hallway and Michi had to assume that everyone was either already in the ballroom or somewhere else...that or she had the wrong night... Was the ball even going on that night...Michi wasn't sure but considering she had heard others talking about attending she had to believe that it was still going on. What if they had been talking about later in the week though...Michi could have very easily misunderstood what they were talking about... She was able to read emotions, not minds after all...
Not only that but Michi had nothing to wear...she had only been able to get a few articles of clothing before arriving at Haven and none of them were extravagant for a ball... Michi would surely stand out like a sore thumb, she was sure of it...and then all eyes would be on her, judging her for not having such a garment. This thought alone made Michi turn once more as she made to head back to her dorm only to feel Sora tugging at her hair once again. ”Stop it Sora! I'm not going and that's it!”Michi finally yelled at the little bird, tired of the constant pulling. Sora didn't let up however and instead did the best he could to look disappointed. Michi wasn't able to resist such a look for very long and turned back towards the ballroom once again and began to walk.
Had anyone else come upon Michi in that moment they would have thought she looked like a deer in the headlights by the stark fear in her eyes. Michi truly didn't know what she was doing or why she was even walking towards the room that was the source of her fear and anxiety. Finally after several more attempts to escape, Michi reached the doors and hesitated a few moments before opening the doors. Immediately the spell took effect, transforming Michi's simple attire into a gorgeous ballgown. Her simple jeans smoothed out into a simple yet elegant silk dress while her shirt changed into a lavender sparkling spaghetti strapped part of the dress. A violet-lavender shawl seemed to appear out of nowhere, gracing Michi's shoulders as her simple tennis shoes changed into matching lavender heeled shoes while a tiara appeared on her head.
When the spell had finished its work, Michi truly looked like a princess much to her surprise. Had she known that there was magic in the room that allowed it to do this Michi wouldn't have been near as nervous. The gown was like nothing she had seen or felt before and for a moment, Michi forgot where she was as she ran her fingers over the dress and the shawl and even the tiara on her head. For once in her life, Michi felt...beautiful...true the dress felt strange and Michi was sure she was going to trip in the strange shoes that adorned her feet but none of that mattered in that moment. Maybe...just maybe...she could actually have fun...if only the spell that kept her shield in place held for the time she was here.
Walking further into the ballroom, Michi could hardly believe her eyes; never in all her life had she seen a room so beautiful and it simply took her breath away. Her features lost their previous frightened nervousness as she looked about the room in awe, walking oh so slowly, carefully even lest she trip and ruin the dress the magic in the room had dressed her in. Michi didn't exactly understand the allure of Halloween or why everyone was so intent on scaring each other on such a night but right then being scared was the furthest thing from Michi's mind as she all but gaped at the extravagance she saw in the room, forgetting that there were in fact other people in the room that would probably stare at her for such a reaction. Right then, Michi was too caught up in the allure of the room and all the festivities to much care about what others thought...at least for the time being.Credits!TEMPLATE MADE BY .:margie:.
