Once again Leonardo was having one of his more busy days. Work was tiring and far from rewarding- even with a twenty-thousand dollar pay check daily, and he found himself wondering why he even tolerated it now and again. A part of him just wanted to give up, take some random check, and live life as he damn well pleased. The other part of him was all too aware that Mattiases didn't do that. They were above everyone else and stomped on those that didn't pull their full workload with nothing short of an iron boot. They were supposed to be the leaders of all industries and do their job for the sake of not only themselves but for everyone around them. Hah now wasn't that a cliche from the sixties?
The chorus of bones popping as Leon put to fingers behind his back and rearranged his spine on either side was more than harmonious, and the brown haired man sighed after that. He felt a little better now- enough to make him smile at least though whether it was fake or not Leon himself sometimes had a hard time telling. Shaking his head after a moment and causing the bones in his neck to roll just a little afterwards, he stretched briefly before actually starting out of the building he had been inhabiting for the last- oh he didn't know how many hours. Setting his hands in his pockets as he walked, Leon was vaguely aware of the man wandering behind him just a few steps- Cliff who had apparently been hired up a test run servant to see if his services were worth anything at all. Of course Leon was the one to test drive such things when it came down to it. As he did most of his servants until he needed them, Leon was content to ignore the man and continue about his business.
Walking up the street a ways, Leon debated whether he really wanted to go home right then and there. He was tired for sure, but the afternoon was young, and the night wasn't even there yet. Maybe he would go snooping around for a bit trying to pierce into some extra information here and there. He wasn't sure, but he was willing to have fun with it. Wandering up a street and taking another turn, Leon went here and there before suddenly stopping as he came to a more lively street of sorts- one that had various foods and excitement out on display. Eyes shimmering with amusement, the brown haired man moved this way and that avoiding people as they made to all but knock into him as they moved down the street. Coming to a stop in front of a stand of fruit for a moment, Leon looked forwards.
He was far from a chef; the man was more than willing to admit that. Why would he be when he had servants to do that sort of thing anyways? However, for a moment or so Leonardo toyed with the idea of buying up a few things and trying his hand at his home kitchen away from the manor. It wasn't necessarily the best thing he could do, but Leon doubted it would be the worst. He probably wouldn't even do it tonight anyways- he was too tired for that. However, maybe some other time when he looked up at his kitchen and saw food there; yes that sounded interesting. How silly it sounded in his mind, yet his interest was sparked by the sheer fact that there was unprepared food there. To some, he probably looked like an uncertain kid in a candy store.
Looking up expectantly towards the person who seemed to be working the stand, he offered one of his signature cool smiles. "Good afternoon," he mused out easily. "I was wondering if you might help me actually pick out some of these fine fruits?" he asked his voice going just a bit higher to form a question.

"It's a nice day," Kiana mumbled to herself, copying what her boss had said as she's walked into work that morning. "How about we set up a stand outside to try and get more costumers?" She'd wanted to say no, she'd wanted to tell him that it was too cold to be working outside but she knew that he would say otherwise and that it would just annoy him for her to be against his idea. She agreed with a faked smile and helped with moving the stand out onto the street. As she would find out as they were setting up the stuff, they weren't the only ones with the idea, the street had turned into almost a market. The bakery a couple of shops down had out fresh pastries, the smell drifting towards Kiana and making her stomach grumble. The small jewellery makers had out rings, bracelets and necklaces, glittery in the sun.
The sun was out, it just wasn't having much of an effect on the temperature. There was a slight dusting of snow on everything that give a new pretty effect but she'd gotten over the look of snow and now she thought of it as nothing but evil. She much preferred when it got warmer and it melted into puddles, she would rather be walking on mud than snow, she was sick of the crunch, she was sick of how cold it was and she was sick of it the sun reflected it and blinded her. She missed the mild winters that she had grown up with and she at times really wanted to just move to somewhere that didn't snow just to not have to be tortured by it any longer. She had to continually fake a smile as she stood at the fruit stand.
There were people stopping at the stand a lot, looking at the produce and sometimes even buying something before they moved on. She felt as if they were losing business to the baker's, most of the day had passed and yet she could still smell the bread and pastries. She'd gone over and bought and a cheese and bacon roll for lunch but she still wanted to buy more food from them. She knew the reason she could still smell it was because of her increased sense of smell but then there wouldn't even have to be a smell to drag in costumers, it happened to look just as good as it smelt. She could have been happy about that, she wasn't overly busy with work today, but it also meant less money and she did have to survive on what she earned from the job.
She looked up to see a man walking over to the stand. Another customer, smile Ki, maybe he'll buy something. He stopped in front of the stand, looking at the array of fruit on show that Kiana knew was the best and freshest they had. Nothing was bruised, nothing was old and it looked so fresh that it could probably tempt a person who hated fruit. As she watched him, she was trying to catch an idea of what he might be looking at, if she could say a few words about whatever he wanted to help convince him to buy it, she would. He didn't seem to be looking at anything in particular though and she sighed silently and waited with her fingers knitted together behind her back.
She was almost about to ask him if he needed any help when he beat her to speaking. "Of course, sir, were you looking for anything specific or do you want some recommendations? I could let you know what's in season." She spoke in a clear tone, hiding her boredom perfectly with the fake interest she was used to showing. She seriously wasn't even sure how long she'd been working for by then so going off and then buying pastries on her way home sounded so nice. It was only then that she seemed to notice that shadow not too far behind the man at the stall, she looked at the other man and wondered if he wanting to buy something as well. She might have another customer.

By nature Cliff was a shadow. He spoke little and did not normally react to any situation unless he was directed to. Having been asked to watch after the oldest of the 'young masters' was something he hadn't expected especially with his rank being so low, but he had taken it up with his signature somber agreement. He honestly had no idea what to expect from Leonardo outside of the few details someone had gave him about the man being sometimes demanding with his servants. However, he was internally determined to do his best and hopefully rise in rank possibly.
However, as it was, he found himself a bit more bored than usual. Leon didn't address him frequently, and though this was fine, Cliff couldn't help but wish that there was some more sort of excitement rather than the man taking an interest in fruit. Oh well; he was being paid and that was what mattered, he supposed. When it was all said and done, the younger man kept a comforting distance away from Leon not because he was repulsed by the man but because Leon had set those grounds. He was not to approach unless called for, and thus he kept a healthy distance back. Thus, Cliff was not only bored but presumably alone. Sigh.
Leon, meanwhile, found himself engaged briefly by the young woman who seemed to be running the stand or at least helping to run it wherein the owner was possibly inside or something. She'd spoken politely and carried a smile on her face which was enough for Leon to accept her existence there. He preferred to associate with the types that were naturally polite or were being held by some invisible collar. The latter usually produced better results than the prior or so Leon had learned over the years.
The questions that flowed out of the woman caused Leon to stop and consider just what he was thinking of making- or thinking of having Jacques make now that he thought about it. He could easily call his loft servant later on and have the man produce something delightful out of whatever he bought there. Jacques was not nearly as good as Alejandro was, but the other man belonged to the manor, and Leon wouldn't step foot in there if he didn't have to. Why hadn't he thought of that before? Oh it would be perfect; much better than trying his hand at cooking that was for sure. It would produce good food right then and there, yes.
"Ah yes, please start by telling me what is in season," he mused back in reply looking over the fruits with a skeptical eye as he tried to discern which ones could be good. Leon did not have the most attenuated senses for deciding whether something was good or not. Suddenly a thought hit Leon, and he had to hide a scowl instantly coming to his face. He could try and smell them- take them in with the senses that he habitually did his best to block out in one form or another. There were very few of his wolf senses that he enjoyed using and one of them was certainly not smell. However, ever since the encounter with that blond haired young woman, Leon couldn't help but be tempted by the thought to try and discern things better this way.
Bah it was foolish and ridiculous! He didn't need such things when he had money! Yet... yet why then was it pulling his chain so hard now? Well... it wouldn't really be a bad thing to at least try, and it wasn't like he was discerning the smell of species. He was just taking in the aroma of fruit as he would flowers in the flower shops. Yes, there was a difference. There was. Briefly hesitating, Leon breathed in taking in the scents of the various fruits, and almost instantly, he found his senses overwhelmed by the various smells that he often cut himself away from. Biting the inside of his mouth, Leon remembered again why he didn't do such things normally. It was too overpowering- too aromatic. He disliked it more often than not save for when there were subtle smells that hid themselves even from his more keen senses.
Just then a stranger smell crept up into Leon, and he found himself looking up again at the woman at the fruit stand. Something in his senses twisted up in knots as he found himself more than a little aware that 'humans' didn't smell like that. Why his senses knew something his brain couldn't even fathom for the moment, Leon didn't know. It wasn't like he actively smelled humans and knew them all that way. However, there was just something estranged that he couldn't put together in this. Once again that blood in him was boiling up despite what Leon did to cool it. Mentally kicking himself for staring, Leon straightened a little hoping he hadn't missed the answer.

Kiana knew that as she worked, she may find herself face to face with other creatures but she never cared too much about it. They existed around her, other werewolves, vampires and as she had recently found out, dragons as well. She didn't see much point in smelling out all her customers to see whether they were human or not, it would feel wrong to her and there was no reason for her to do it. She acted as if every single one of her customers were human. Of course occasionally she caught the scents of other creatures without trying to, it happened because of the fact she always kept her senses working better than a humans would, she didn't want to force them to weaken. When she was working, that was a rare thing to happen for her though, the mixed scents of all the fruit that was between her and the customer meant that she almost never caught their scent.
Being able to smell the fruit so easily worked well though, it meant that she was sure about how fresh it was. It did also in a way make her job a bit more bearable, it was a nice scent, almost tropical with all the fruits and it was one of the reasons that she originally picked the job, as well as the fact that it was such an easy job to get, The owner seemed to be fine with hiring anyone if they were fine with working long hours and weekends. She was fine with that, she didn't have much of a social life yet and her biggest worry was about making sure she had enough money for rent and food. Oh, and clothes as well since she managed to at least rip apart one piece of clothing when the full moon came along, you'd think she would be better at looking after her clothes when she shifted but she just wasn't.
She knew what fruits were in season as she must have listed them at least thirty times that day. "Apples, mandarins, grapes, blood oranges, lemons, pears and bananas are all in season." She listed off, half pointing to them on the stand as she did. They were the ones positioned to be seen easier and Ki had never questioned they way her boss set up displays, he knew what he was doing and she sure as hell wouldn't. She could talk to the customers and give out information she had been told to give out, she could also know if any of the fruit was off, but that was about all she did.
She shifted her weight from her right leg to her left, her feet moving inside her half-size too large boots as she did. There was a small bit of pain as her skin unstuck from the leather and she kept herself from frowning. She wasn't going to be able to separate her foot from her boot by the time she got home, she'd been standing with them on for long enough that she was sure they had actually melted together or something like that. She looked around at both sides of the stand as she waited for the man's response checking to see that no one else was waiting. It was set up to practically surround her, there were three sides to the stand, all covered with different fruit, and it meant she had to be watching her sides as well as in front of her.
She looked back up at the man to see he was staring at her. Had she missed him say something? No, it wasn't that loud around, not that many people talking. She had good hearing, she really wouldn't have missed him talking. Why was he staring at her then? Maybe it was because she'd looked to her sides, maybe she'd seemed a bit rude to him. She hadn't meant to seem rude, she was just making sure she wasn't missing any other customers and also making sure no one was trying to steal fruit while she wasn't looking. Maybe he hadn't heard her when she'd told him the fruits in season, that could be why. "Did you hear me?" she asked, her voice much quieter than before, she felt a bit rude asking but it looked like he may not have heard her.

Cliff's stance shifted from one side to the other as he found himself watching his boss talking to the young woman at the fruit stand. Trying to be less conspicuous, he turned and bent down looking at the variety of breads that were there but never quite letting his gaze leave Leon's form. The last thing he wanted was to fail on the job especially one that could either promote him or kick him down a few notches.
In his excursion into his nasal senses, Leonardo had in fact cut off his hearing to nothing more than a low drone and had missed what the young woman had said about the foods that were in season. A part of him grew increasingly aware that he had, and he mentally hit at himself for such foolishness. He should have been paying attention to his hearing- something that he was actually much more attuned to on a daily basis anyways for a variety of reasons- rather than the sense of smell he had been testing the air with.
As Ki's question hit the air, the 'young master' Mattias mentally flinched before nodding his head and managing a cool head and a crisp look. "Yes," he lied smooth as silk. "Though I was wondering if perhaps you could be so kind as to tell me which you would suggest? I must admit I am far from the best at choosing any of such fruits though I hope to learn quickly enough," he mused out hoping that the smoothness of his speech would cover his own internal folly. It normally did in one form or another, and he was a fox weaving about in the tall grass of conversations more often than not. It certainly helped with work- both the honest work that his father assigned and the less honest and more amusing work that he did in his free time. No one ever said Leonardo was the kindest of people though few could outwardly complain about him without their tongues becoming their nooses. Being the son of a rich man had it's perks he supposed.

She saw the other man that had been standing not too far from her customer move his attention over to the baker's stand. She almost found herself laughing, yet again a possible customer had been stolen by the damn bakery. if they had made it to have their stand out on a day when there wasn't the bakery stand out the plan of using it to get more customers might actually work. She might try and bring that idea up with her boss or she might just not. Yeah, she just wouldn't bother. She didn't think it would help her get on his good side. She had to stay on his damn good side. She looked away from the lost customer, maybe he'd get something from the bakery and come back to the fruit stand but for now she would worry about her current customer.
The man said he'd heard her, making her wonder again about why he had been staring at her but dropping the thought as it didn't matter that much. He asked her for her recommendation and that was as easy for her to answer as it had been to say what was in season. When you worked at the fruit stand, people trusted your recommendations and it surprised Kiana in a way because you really didn't need any kind of experience in working with food to get a job there at the fruit and veg shop. All her answers were given to her by the boss and she just repeated them, making it fit whatever question the customer might have, they were all around the same questions anyway. "The blood oranges, these came from the farm this morning and they're the best you could get. The apples as well, had one earlier, these red ones over here have great flavour to match their good colour." She had been recommending the apples since she'd had one and that was one thing that she hadn't been told to do from the boss.
She turned her head to the right as a woman holding a clear bag of bananas asked if she could buy them. Kiana smiled at the women, turning toward her and taking the bananas to weigh them. She took a note from the woman, putting it in the money box that sat on a small shelf inside the stand, gave her the change she needed and thanked her, wishing her a good afternoon. She then walked back over to the side of the stand where the man was. "Sorry, sir, do you know what you'd like to get yet?"

As the young woman gave recommendations, Leon found himself eying the apples. How long had it been since he had eaten a proper apple pie? Far too long that was for sure. Living on one's own for the most part left quite a lot to be desired in the food industry. Sure he had Jacques, but the man only came when Leon called. It was easy to forget to eat and hard to decide what one wanted to eat when the question was posed. At least at the manor, the food was prepared, and one could eat if he was hungry or just refuse if not. The apples were certainly winning him over this go around. A finger was brought to his lips as Leon debated whether he wanted more than that, though, and it seemed that for a brief moment the young woman was distracted by another customer, and that was fine with Leon. As Ki came back again and apologized before asking if he knew what he wanted, Leon had opened his mouth to say something, but right then and there, a voice caught his ears. "LOOK OUT!" was the childish call that came through the air, and Leon's head darted in the direction as two boys on a bike came barreling through the area haphazardly knocking into things as they went. For a brief moment, Cliff's name was about to be uttered, but Leon didn't have a chance to respond.
In less than a second, the two boys knocked into the cart that Leon was standing in front of, and a variety of fruits went falling to the ground around him. More than that, three decent sized oranges were projected up into the air by their more weighted counterparts and went flying up briefly only to go falling back to the ground. Leon was pummeled with one of them and flinched at the impact his arms tightening up around his head as if he were expecting more to come crashing down on him. "SORRY!" the voice rang again before the two boys scrambled back up from the bike they had been knocked off of and quickly started away running once more through the streets no even stopping to inquire about the damage or anything of that nature. They were kids and didn't want to be in trouble as it were- they were already late, as the reason for their running.
"SIR!" Cliff's suddenly frantic voice rang in Leon's ears, and suddenly the younger man abandoned all previous facade to quickly close the distance between himself and Leon who was quickly trying to piece together just what the hell had happened. God damn kids... was all that finally went through Leon's mind as he found himself slowly straightening up after that. Just before he got to Leon, Cliff happened to step on a large rolling pair of apples who suddenly decided to kick his feet out from under him. Almost instantly the younger man went crashing to the ground, and a groan of pain was the result.
Looking sharply sideways at Cliff who quickly scrambled to his feet and all but stood at attention, Leon growled displeased at the younger man's actions despite how pure his intentions may have been. Without even acknowledging Cliff, Leon looked over his clothes with disdain. "My goodness... what in the world..." he sighed aloud frowning deeply at the mess that was left. It certainly was less than he could have said in that moment, that was for sure. Looking towards the young woman whom he had been talking to, Leon frowned. "Are you alright, miss?"

Kiana was wearing an apron, a horrible green colour, the same colour that the store's outside was painted. She reached behind her to retie the knot as it seemed to undo itself and watched the man while she did, waiting for an answer. She watched his mouth open and then things seemed to happen really fast. A child screamed out for them to look out and two boys on bikes came shooting down the street, no really seeming to care what they destroyed as they did. She watched them knock a toddler off her feet, she screamed out for her mother as she started crying but the boys on the bikes didn't seem to care one bit. They were riding more toward the left of the street, the side where the bakery and fruit shop stands were. One of them just knocked into the bakery stand, shaking it and only causing a single meat mince pie to fall and splatter on the ground.
Really, Kiana didn't work out that they were going to ride straight through the fruit stand until it was too late. She only had enough time to scream and stumble backwards, losing her balance and landing so she was sitting a little behind the stand. Her arms flew up to try and cover her head and face as best as they could when the bikes crashed into the stand, causing fruit to go flying. She could hear the larger fruit landing on the ground but she wasn't in a position where any of it landed on her, instead she was being sprayed by the strawberries hard enough that she was sure that she would end up with bruises from them. Whether she did get injured or not wasn't really the most important thing though, the important thing was the fact that most of the fruit was getting bruised and destroyed and it'd cost them.
She stayed curled up for longer than she needed to and then she moved her arms away from her head, looking at the mess that was in front of her. She jumped to her feet with the growl that was way too animal-like and stared down the street where she caught site of the two boys turning a corner. She hadn't even really got a good look at their faces, she hoped someone else had, they would pay for doing that. Her eyes first searched for the money box, it had slid over to the left side of the small shelf but it was still there and safe. She then looked up at the customer she had been talking to before this had happened, wanting to make sure that he was alright. He beat her to the words.
She smiled and gave him a thumbs up. "I'm fine, strawberries can't do that much damage." She answered. "Are you?" She asked, seeing how his clothes were a mess. Looking down at her own clothes, she frowned but at least she'd had her apron on and it seemed to be the thing that had taken the most damage. She may have hated it before because of its ugly colour but right now she loved it. "Such a mess," she said, mostly to herself as she saw just how much of the fruit that had been lost.

Post by Saraitha Mei Miafuji on Jan 23, 2013 5:53:38 GMT 10
The ten minutes seemed to fly by as Sara waited patiently for the fresh backed bread to cool. She was not in any kind of hurry. The deliciously wonderful smells of baked goods in the bake shop even had “her” mouth watering as she inhaled frequently to her delight. All around her were more different pies, cakes, cookies, and rolls than she'd ever seen. The variety was just amazing.
The older baker and his wife were the kindest humans shes met since moving to town weeks ago. She walked in looking for rolls and no sooner did the door bell chime announcing her arrival that she was greeted warmly by the plump couple and asked if she was new, since they knew pretty much everyone in town. They were the only bakery in town, they boasted in their Irish accent, and asked her questions to get to know her. She answered as well as she could and returned their smiles before placing her order.
“Oh, those arn't for sale” The male stated bluntly. Sara may have taken offense to this, but he had a smile on his face and chuckled after saying it. His wife slapped at his shoulder, also laughing and turned away to walk into the kitchen.
“Aye, you don't want those anyhow. The freshly baked goods just came out o' th' ovens. If y' have just 10 minutes t' let them cool just wee bit? Thats when the crust sets, y' see, can't be handled 'till then. Th' stuff in the display cases gets bagged an' sent t' the restaurants, y' see.” He said cheerfully. Sara nodded and took a seat. The shop had a bunch of the things on her shopping list. The baker sold many items that he ordered in bulk anyway for his baking. She ordered milk, eggs, flour and sugar along with her dozen rolls, sesame seed bagels, and sliced wheat bread.
None of these things were for Sara of course. They were for her younger brother Yukki. She usually just picked up what they needed on a daily basis, but Yukki insisted she buy enough for a few days worth. “Just in case we company or something” he'd said. She became suspicious almost immediately and made him confess to bumping into a girl at school and hopping to have her over to meet his big sister. Sara was surprised. It was the first time that Yukki had shown any interest in girls before then. He always seemed so oblivious to the fact that there were girls in his classes before. He just treated everyone like “one of the guys” so to speak. He was past that age, in her mind, and it worried her 'till today.
The Misses returned with her order and they both gave her great praise at being their first ever Japanese customer and were looking forward to her return.
Sara smiled and sured them that they had a customer for life. She bowed to them in traditional japanese style. “Ohayou gozaimasu.” (Good Morning) in the most formal way. The couple clapped and thanked her again.
There was a loud “thump!” as Sara opened the door to the shop to exit. Two bicycles rushed passed as the minced meat pie hit the ground in front of her. There were shouts and Sara looked up just in time to see fruit go flying everywhere and a man slip on an apple. The commotions and mess they created at the fruit stand next door made Sara cringe. >>That poor man<< She thought, watching him slip on the apple and fall flat on his back.
It brought back memories of how she ran into Ator a few weeks ago. Was that the same kid? She did a double-take as the kid sped off. >>The british version of Denis the menace and his friend Joey<< She thought with a laugh.
Sara turned towards the fruit stand hoping that there were additional produce inside. She needed to get fruit for the fruit salad and hopefully some snow peas and other veggies for the stir-fry she had planned for tonight. There was a female employee behind the counter with an apron that could have been a better shade of green. It did go with the storefront décor though. A well dressed, dark haired bloke, who looked like some businessman, was standing in front of her and looked to be a customer. Sara shook her head at the clerk's misfortune. The man would probably be angry at the mess the produce made on him.
The other man, the one who'd fallen, picked himself up and had his back to Sara as she approached. She just happened to inhale and almost stopped. There was an overwhelming stench of werewolf, meaning more than one!. Sara's smile disappeared as she closed on the man on her way by.
It was too late to turn around, she hopped that things went well. All her past run-ins with Lycans was a mixed bag, so she didn't know what to expect. Some were outright hostile. Others indifferent. A few were kind or showed tolerance. Sara sighed and continued forward.

Cliff mentally scolded himself for his own blunder repeatedly. Why hadn't he just checked the ground before starting forwards? It would have been so much smarter! He had been too worried about Master Leonardo and then made this blunder in front of the man and ugh... failure at life, the frickin universe, and everything! Rubbing his back as he stood up tall once again, Cliff wished the stinging pain would go away but was aware of the fact that it wouldn't for at least a few more minutes. Shifting sideways to try and straighten himself more, Cliff actually noticed Sara and jumped startled at the sight of the woman. Where had she come from and how did she get so close so fast? "Uhm...sorry didn't mean to bump you," he spattered out despite the fact that he hadn't bumped her at all.
Meanwhile, Leon's attention was focused on the young woman, and thus even with his senses open, he hadn't noticed the woman that had just come out of the store. As Ki stated that she was alright, Leon mentally scolded the boys that had caused this yet again. What were they even thinking while riding through such an area?! He most certainly would never have done such a thing as a child! As he was asked if he was alright Leon looked down at the suit he had been wearing and mentally sighed at the ruined aspects of it. He would need to have it dry cleaned, and even then it was debatable as to whether it would all come out right with no absurd smell attached. Thankfully, the impact of the fruit hadn't hurt that much. He had suffered worse in the last ...week? Or so? "Yes, quite alright," he lied with a brief nod. As she commented on the mess again, Leon gave a nod. "Children these days," he tisked out briefly before shaking his hair and causing the locks to move one way and then the other.
If not for Cliff's voice cutting into his thoughts, Leon might have said something along the lines of 'I could help you clean up if need be' which really just meant having Cliff clean up, but still. However, the man's voice once more caught Leon's ears, and as his head turned, the werewolf caught sight of the vampire. All too quickly, Leon blanched something deep inside him threatening to break out in that moment. A rage akin to what he had felt only a short time ago threatened to spill out into his blood. He had no idea how he knew; maybe it was the fact that the woman was so pale gave it away... maybe it was the fact that his nasal senses were taking in something estranged that he normally did everything to beat back. Maybe it was because some of that ancient blood in him was intuitively recognizing an enemy.
It was probably just paranoia in all its fashionable glory.
For a few seconds, Leon had no words at all. He just stood there with his mouth in mid-word formation as he watched Cliff apologize. The dumb man was human, and Leon knew that he had no way of knowing that this could be an ample threat. Like had been said earlier, Cliff was the bottom of the ranks, a possibility to consider. Leon was test driving him, and if he passed, then there was possible recourse. However, the damn man was just making a blunder of himself, and it was all Leon could do not to scold him. Oh wait; he would. "Cliff," Leon snapped out rather quickly causing the man to look sideways at him shortly after he had said the apology of sorts. However, just as he had stated his name, Leon had decided to do something else. This was public, and there was still an image to maintain, after all. Damn it all. "Please help Miss..." Leon stopped and waited to see if Ki would give her name or not. If she did, he would state it after that and rephrase the statement again as an order to clean up. If not, he would just restate it as "Help this young miss clean up".
Cliff went rigid right then and there caught between a rock and a hard place. He wanted to see what the woman's reaction would be, but he was pretty sure that was an order when it came down to it. Oh God...Looking from Sara to Leon and then back again, he hesitated and succeeded in looking helpless. Leon mentally growled.

Kiana nodded as the man said he was alright, as long as he wasn't injured. She knew that his clothes weren't alright though and she did hope they would be savable. The suit didn't exactly look cheap. At least for her the apron could be replaced cheaply if need be, as well as the jeans. Only someone dumb would wear expensive clothing while working at a fruit and veg shop, it would just be asking for trouble. She did a scan of the street, watching a lonely apple rolling down the pavement of the pathway by itself and seeing that everyone seemed to be in a sort of shock. She had to laugh about the fact that this could have been the most exciting thing that had happened in the town for a long time. Excitement wasn't a normal thing for such a small town.
Lastly she caught sight of a woman that she hadn't seen before the accident, she hadn't seen her all day but she knew exactly what she was. The pale skin was enough to give it away but the sickening smell that went with it made it hard for Kiana to not react. She wanted to growl, no she wanted to do more than growl, her instincts were telling her to rip the vampire apart. She couldn't, she had to stay calm. She had to stay calm because she was in a public place with lots of human around and because it wouldn't be right to hurt someone just because they were a vampire, no matter how much she hated the things. Closing her eyes, she tried to force her nose to cut down her smell, if the scent wasn't as strong, it would help a lot. It didn't work. It never did. It seemed allowing the increased senses her whole life meant she couldn't tell them to piss off when they weren't doing any good for her.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out. If she just stayed calm it would be fine, there was no danger of her shifting there on the street, it was about as far from the full moon as it could be and even if she wanted to, she knew it would take a lot of trouble and energy to even just turn her finger nails into claws. If she were a wolf, she knew there would be much less chance of her being able to control her instincts, her wolf side liked to get in control when strong emotions came into the picture. The hatred she had towards the vampire right now could easily be counted as a strong emotion. As a human, she had a good enough chance at controlling it. She was planning though to either get the vampire to go away or to get herself away. She could control the instinctual anger but for how long? She had no idea.
Oh, and she knew for her it was worse. She'd always hated the vampires more than she had needed to. Her pack, the one she had grown up in, they'd taught the young about vampires through horror stories around camp fires. She had grown up thinking of vampires how a kid at a camp might think of werewolves or big foot. She was sure that wasn't a normal thing for more lycans to have grown up hearing. Distracted from the vampire for a moment, Kiana caught the scent of something else, another werewolf. Her head turned to look at the man in the suit, it was either him or the shadow guy. She hoped that whichever one happen to be the lycan, they had much better control of their instincts than her. For the vampires sake of course because if the other werewolf were to attack it, she wasn't sure if she would be able to not join in. She found the side of her mouth flicking up into a smile.
"Kiana and I don't need any help," she said as the man in the suit told Cliff, who she guessed to be the shadow guy, to help her. She could clean everything up herself, it would just end up easier that way. She wasn't thinking about cleaning up right about now though, she was thinking about the vampire and getting it away from her. She wouldn't be able to get away from here quickly, her boss would keep her here until she cleaned everything up so she needed to get the vampire to go away without doing something stupid.

The man turned around and looked a bit startled to see her. Sara smiled as he apologized for bumping her, although she was sure he didn't. She caught his scent as she passed him. >>Human. The Lycans must be the other two.<< She said, narrowing the possibilities down to the only possible culprits. She turned her attention to the man and woman before her. They were apologizing to each other, but Sara knew they noticed her.
The guy in the thousand dollar suit paled as he looked at her. He called the humans name. Now she knew he was “Cliff” and some sort of assistant to the man. Glancing at the woman, “Kiana” she'd said, she got nothing but a vibe of hostility.
Sara looked down, wishing she could go elsewhere, but what choice did she have? This was the produce mart in town. She would have to go up kings highway to Ipswich some 15 miles away otherwise. There wasn't time for that. She had to get what she needed and then head over to Ator's to attend to her duties of housekeeping. Sara sighed, preparing herself for hostility, choosing not to look at the rich guy. The woman was the real threat, in her eyes, and the one she had to get past to go inside the store.
“Excuse me” She said in a pleasant voice in hopes of avoiding trouble. “I see you've got your hands full. If you could just point me in the direction of the snow peas and carrots?.” she asked glancing at the plate glass windows to try and see inside.

The brown eyed man blinked at the words that escaped from the young woman working the fruit stand. He had been about to say her name and to order Cliff to start helping, but when she stated that she didn't need any help, he was left with the residual feeling that he had been refused. His services -as excellent as they were as he saw it anyways- had been refused. A part of his pride was batted at, but he didn't show it in the least. He would smile and go on. If she didn't want his help, fine then. "I see," he replied back to her straightening up just a little as he did so. "If you insist," he replied.
After a moment, Leonardo's head turned again looking back in Cliff's general direction though this time focusing more on Sara. Again his blood boiled, and he had to bight back the estranged urge to growl. If anything, he reasoned out he didn't want a vampire too close to his servant. Assuring himself that was the only reason the hairs on the back of his neck were now all but standing on end, Leon fought down the other thoughts that were breaking out like lightning in between his ears. The memory of that damn creature in the restaurant was trying to claw its way into the front of Leon's mind, but he kicked it back again and again. One, it was a public place. Two, he was a Mattias and needed to keep appearances, and three, she hadn't even done anything wrong.
Cliff, meanwhile, had gone white as a sheet for some reason and was trying to grasp the fibers of his being in order to snap back into reality. Upon realizing that Leon was staring at him, he straightened and fought back a quick salute as if he were in the army. He couldn't do that now; it would be too conspicuous. "Do you need something, sir?" Cliff mumbled somewhat low. If Leon hadn't prided himself with his acute hearing, he might have missed what had been said completely. However, he didn't and gave a simple shake of the head. Cliff just nodded weakly and took a few steps back.
Sara's voice caught Leons' ears next, and his head turned as brown eyes realized just how close she was now. His momentary distraction had been enough time for her to approach, it seemed. Despite himself, Leon found the molars of his mouth grinding at a bit of the skin that was there as he kept himself calm. He was a Mattias, and she wasn't even talking to him anyways. Even if she was a creature that his mind was associating heavily with nothing but relenting evil from the events that had transpired, he was a Mattias...he could be civil. Hah you're a joke the voice in the back of his mind made Leon mentally cringe. He ignored it. It would go away; it was just momentary doubt, and he was better than that.

Kiana didn't even look at the man as he replied to her rejecting help in cleaning up, she kept her eyes locked on the vampire. She knew she would look a bit odd to the human passer by, her expression couldn't be anything kind and she was staring which she knew everyone would see as rude, she was seeing it as cautionary. She didn't trust the vampire and she knew they could move fast, she really couldn't afford to look away even for a second. She knew eventually she may be forced to let her guard down though, her boss would eventually come out and order her to start cleaning up, once he caught sight of her just standing there. She knew that he knew what had happened and she knew he'd be watching to make sure she got things fixed up. For now though she was going to see what the vampire was going to do.
A low growl rumbled in her throat as the vampire got closer. She looked nice enough, any human really wouldn't see anything threatening about her, if they going to see anyone as threatening, it would really be Kiana. She wanted to look threatening, she wanted to try and tell the vampire to fuck off without actually saying the words. It didn't seem like the message was getting through though and she was pushing her luck, the stupid bloodsucker was pushing her luck a little bit too far. The vampire spoke and her voice came out politely, as if this were a normal situation. She asked Kiana if she could point her in the direction of the snow peas and carrots. To that, Kiana just wanted to laugh. Vampires don't eat, she knew that, so why the heck was this one looking to buy food? Was it crazy? Missing human life? She held back the laugh.
"Why would you need food?" she hissed so low that only the vampire, and possibly the other lycan, could hear it. "You can't even eat it." She crossed her arms across her chest. She could see the other lycan in the corner of her eye, she couldn't see him reacting to the vampire in any kind of way. She wondered if it was just how she grew up, maybe it wasn't normal to hate vampires so much, maybe she had just been told that. It didn't matter anyway, it was probably a good thing, if he didn't react there was less chance of her causing any kind of trouble.

Sarah stopped cold, hearing the Were hiss the insult meant for her ears only. She glared at the wolf. The teen couldn't be more than 17 years old in her outer appearance. Long brown hair a nice complexion. She may very well have been pretty if it wasn't for the anger etched in her facial features. At that moment though, Sara found her to be ugly. Just another were with their hatred and their prejudices. She'd run into many over the years. Why was the lycan so quick to judge.
Sara frowned. There was nothing to be done. She had a bag of goods from the bakery taking up her left hand. Besides, it was a fight she knew she would loose. Her eyes darted to the male lycan, then back at Kiana. There were two of them. And just one of her. And if that wasn't bad enough, she cold hear the bustling market around them. There were humans about as well. She needed to blend in. Having to move again would be a disaster for her and Yukki.
Almost as if she'd sent him a telepathic message by just thinking his name, His ring tone sounded on her phone. Sara took her eyes off the were and fished out her phone. It was the first time he'd called her during school hours. It was probably important or she would have ignored it. She pressed answer and his voice jumped into her ear before she could even say “Hello?”
“Oneechan!. I'm bringing a friend from School over, so could you make extra stir-fry tonight?..” He said in an exited voice. Sara shook her head at the Werewolf. She knew that damn lycans would be able to hear her conversation. She turned away and walked back the way she came “Yukki. This isn't a good time. And I'm not going to be able to make what I promised” Sara replied “But you said you were making my favorite tonight. You never break your promises. What's wrong? ” her brother said disappointment then concern in his voice. “This isn't a good time, little brother. I'll call you back” Sara said with finality in her voice and hung up.
Sara stopped, turning her head and eyes so she could see the teen.
“Not that it was any of your business” she said, irritation in her voice. “Not everything is black and white as you may see them” She added in a flat voice. Sara didn't care if she took it as an insult or not. Some weres would, since it implies she only sees in black and white like dogs do. She turned her head forward and walked away, ignoring the rich guy, but managing to smile for the servant “Cliff” since he'd been nice to her.
