:: Alexander Revis Lyons :: Basics! :: NICKNAMES: Alex, Sir, Mr. Lyons :: AGE: 34 :: BIRTHDAY: November 23 :: GENDER: Male :: SEXUALITY: Heterosexual - he's pretty sure he's hetero but has never had time to really pursue any relationships as it is anyways. :: FACE CLAIM: James McAvo :: MEMBER GROUP: Hunter Leader :: OCCUPATION: Direct Leader of the Hunters :: LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Hebrew, Arabic Personality! :: LIKES:- Hunting for sport and for eradication reasons - First and foremost, Alex is a hunter. He is a man that enjoys killing creatures that he believes are both violent and detrimental to the common good. Thus, he enjoys hunting and is very skilled when it comes to using both old-fashioned weapons such as bows, knives, and swords, but he naturally prefers the more simplicity of guns that can take down things from a distance and are more useful in the long-run due to their durability.
- Learning new things and logical analysis - Though he enjoys the physical aspects of life, Alexander has always been a mentalist individual. He loves books, reading, numbers, and things that make sense and follow nicely. He's the type of individual who would readily ask questions when he had them even if it made others uncomfortable or unsure of themselves in the process.
- Puzzles and games that test the mind such as chess- Mostly because his interactive brain, Alex enjoys things that are challenging in their mental stimulation aspect more than anything else, and thus he is attracted to puzzles and things that naturally form a course. That being said, in the exact opposite case, he utterly despises things that don't follow order in some form or fashion.
- Solomon Lance- Call it what you will, but to Alex, Solly is his better half as he sometimes mentally registers. Mostly because of the circumstances they both grew up in and how they have matured together over the years, Alex can honestly say Solomon is his best friend. He can tell her anything and feels comfortable as long as she is by his side.
- Control- Despite what he may say, Alex enjoys having control of a situation. He likes the power kick that comes with it, and it seems to give him the ability to keep going even when he doesn't want to. He likes winning as a side note somewhat a reflection of more control on a situation.
:: DISLIKES:- Mythical/Supernatural creatures- This list includes werewolves, vampires, and dragons at the very tip of the iceberg. Anything with super natural abilities or something along those lines tends to annoy Alex in one form or another. They are creatures that shouldn't exist, yet somehow they do. They hurt humans and act more dominant which is intolerable to Alex.
- Protettore- By nature he hates the people that wish to get in his way, and thus Alex's major issue with the protettore is not that they are humans so much that they are defending creatures that are detrimental to society. If they would simply leave him alone to do what he wanted, Alex would be perfectly fine with them. However, it is their interference that gets annoying.
- Tension between hunters- A well oiled machine needs no kinks, and the pressure and friction between people simply isn't a good thing at any time. Thus Alex detests fighting between hunters and stresses a diplomatic approach.
- Being ignorant- Alex hates not having all the facts especially when it makes him look foolish or act stupidly in the process. It works his last nerve when someone doesn't give him everything they know, and he tends to chew at them rather vigorously until they provide the evidence he is looking for in such cases.
- Seeing Solly in danger- He knows that she can handle herself. Alex knows this, yet every time Solomon puts herself at risk, Alex can't help but detest it. He wishes more than anything that she would just settle down or something but knows that won't happen any time soon- or so he believes.
:: HABITS:- Stating someone's name when speaking to them- Alex tends to stress personal connections by stating someone's name when he is talking with them. It used to be a forced nature, but it has now become second nature.
- Setting up boards and games- Habitually, Alex will set up game boards and the like when others are in the room. He doesn't even really think about it as he does it more often than not. He has a natural affinity to touching mostly intimate objects as he is thinking that just sort of evolves into this.
:: STRENGTHS:- Facade- Alex can create a persona of strength and control that allows him to keep control of the Hunter group even when he is unsure of himself or feeling weaker than usual which is common enough. He knows what to say to work people up or calm people down and knows when to use these tactics for the most part.
- Analytical skills- Alex is able to break down a situation and reduce it to its parts making it generally easier to deal with. He has a heightened understanding that allows him to get through almost every situation in some form or fashion.
- Athletic- By nature of the hunting, Alex was expected to learn several offensive tactics. Thus he even as he ages, he is still very athletic and knows how to fight both in a long range and short range fashion. He seems to favor long-range fighting for one reason or another, but he can switch between the two of them with relative ease.
- Creative- Alex has a decent imagination that allows him to be very creative when he wants to be. It also causes him to be a chronic patron of the artistic fashion.
- Determined- One of Alex's most defining features is his determined nature. Despite all setbacks, he will step forwards with as much vigor as he ever had, and he isn't one to back down from even the hardest of challenges. That being said, he is not reckless and does not charge into battle needlessly. He just won't give up on what he has set his mind to.
:: WEAKNESSES:- Demanding- Towards people that he knows can do the work, Alex is all but a drill sargent with demands. He wants things done, and he wants them done up to his level of expectation. If a person can't get it done, he will dismiss them without a second thoght.
- Proud- As the Hunter Leader and inheritor of the hunting legend, Alex is proud of who he is. However, his pride tends to get in the way of his reason, and he is prone to refusing to back down when his pride is threatened. He would rather die than have his honor forsaken.
- Backseat driver- Alex works well as someone who directs others, but he has a chronic obsession with doing so. Those that know him or are around him more often than not will find their nerves worked by his constant need to direct things.
- Apathetic - Towards the supernatural, Alexander Lyons has no respect or care for. He is prejudice, racist, and cruel not even willing to listen to the voices of reason that argue for moderation. He is all but a dictator when it comes to pursuing the goal of destroying the things that could destroy humanity.
- Depression- Alex suffers from it incredibly from time to time. Major losses are hard to recover from even though he knows that he will recover in time. Alex hates losing in any way, shape, fashion or form.
:: OVERALL PERSONALITY: By force of habit more than internal nature, Alexander Lyons is everything one would expect of a leader. Cool-headed in tight situations, controlling when called to be, organized and meticulous in work, he knows the ins and outs of everyone and still has time to get his own hunting done. He's the respectable type who would address even a lower ranked member of the Hunter force with as much respect as any other, and he is generally very social and good natured towards those in his 'alliance'. He has no problems with standing up and giving speeches in a crowd nor does he have issue with being impromtu. His voice is fiery when it needs to be but generally cool as the sea especially when he's talking to just a few people. To the eyes of a standard every day individual, he is a 'good man for the job'. In truth, this is a facade for the every day crowd. Alex hides most of the stress and strain just below the surface of his persona to become someone that he is not.
For one, Alex is actually far from social. A chronic introvert forced to become an extrovert if he wanted to get anything done in life- or so says his father, Alex prefers the company of one or two close friends at most at any given moment of time. Any more than that and he is prone to putting up the mask of perfection that everyone else normally sees. In truth, the rift between his two personalities all but warring against each other has left scars in Alex's psyche, and he has strict rules for which persona to let out at which interval. This is the cause of the prior shift even when he is comfortable with all three people he's around. Alex fears what he would be if he let it go.
That being said, Alex's intellect is actually very stable through everything. He is quite knowledgeable and enjoys games that challenge the mind such as chest and Go which he has actually picked up since moving the base to Saipan. He loves a challenge and thrives under pressure -that is as long as it is not active social pressure, anyways. He's very confident in his own abilities to think through a situation, and it is borderline pride that drives him to work through something even at the cost of everything. He enjoys completed things such as puzzles or finished books, and when someone tries to give up on a game, he tends to get irritated with them more quickly than normal. History! :: MOTHER: Elisabeth Lyons :: FATHER: Maxwell Lyons :: SIBLINGS: none :: SPOUSE: BI he's being trying to get spmeone to marry him for a while now, damn it :: CHILDREN: none :: PETS: Becket was actually Maxwell's dog, but after Maxwell died, he became Alex's favorite dog.
:: HISTORY: It was questionable as to whether Maxwell Lyons, the head of the Hunters at the time, and Elisabeth Simons, a chronically peaceful nurse who grew up in a hunting family, really loved each other or whether it was an arrangement formed between their hunting parents that finally drew them together. However, they retained a "decent" relationship most of the time, and a year into their marriage and life in England, Alex was born. However, it was there that things started to go down hill, it seemed. As a baby, Alex was very vocal in his demands much to the horror of his mother who retreated a little and eventually enlisted the help of several women to take care of Alex. She was a nurse but wasn't cut out to be a mother and knew it a bit too well. She fought heavily with Maxwell on what to do about the baby, but Maxwell consistently argued that it was her place to raise their child. Before Alex was a year old, Elisabeth left Maxwell leaving Alex with him. Only a year after that, she was mysteriously killed in France. What exactly happened, Alex would not learn until years later.
The women that had been originally put in charge of helping take care of Alex were now all but required to take him up as their own now that the mistress of the house had abandoned him. A few were happy about this, mostly considering the neurotic woman that was Alex's mother was finally out of their hair. However, a few felt bad for the little boy that was 'abandoned' by his mother. As he grew up, Alex became a reclusive creature. He was very aware that the women that were still taking care of him were not his mother despite his age and despite the fact that a few tried to mother him in some form or fashion. He often went running for his father whenever the man was actually home- which was seldom. More often than not, he went into hiding and learned tricks and ways to avoid the women such as climbing into small spaces in his house much to the worry of the women.
It was by his father's influence that Alex first started reading at the age of four. Because he was often very busy with work, Maxwell rarely came home as it was. However, when he did, he would often read to Alex at night. This subtle influence over a few scant years was enough to draw out Alexander's natural love of reading. He pretty much snagged anything he could get his hands on and often forced others to read to him when he didn't understand a word or phrase. Many of the women hired to take care of him found his ways amusing and extended his reading revenue by adding books of their own to his growing collections. He learned a variety of languages pretty early because of this, and by the time he was five, he was speaking quite well in a few of them- though he consistently mixed them up from time to time never knowing what he was speaking in.
At the age of five, Alex was enrolled into a military school wherein his father was seeking to get him out of his hair for a while. It was in school that he would undergo rigorous self-training in which he learned how to take care of himself or get yelled at. While in these first years of school, Alex expressed a love of puzzles and things that challenged his mind. His peers found him a bit weird, especially the other young males that attended his school. However, his teachers found him quite logical and quite a 'little genius'. However, after a year, Alex grew frustrated of military school finding that the fact that he was on the bottom of the totem pole was more than a little annoying. Thus, when he returned from school for the start of the summer, Alex requested that Maxwell not send him back. At first Max was irritated at his son's defiance, but after a bit, he finally decided that as long as Alex agreed to follow his orders, it would be alright.
Alex was enrolled in a different school much closer to home, and during this time, his father was home a lot more than he had ever been before. It was in this time that Maxwell began to explain to Alex just what he did. He was the leader of a corporation of people that defended other humans. They were people that destroyed in order to protect, and one day Alex would inherit the job because he was a descendent of the original hunter. Though at first, Alex was confused by it, he eventually grew to like it. His father spent time with him because they shared that in common, and the emotional connection that he craved as a child could be fulfilled if he just managed to foster that connection or so he childishly thought. His father began to train him more and more and put him into a hunting program that went on after school and on the weekends. Alex was forced to balance a surprisingly busy schedule for a child, but he would grow to be a better multitasker than one would have imagined.
At the age of seven, Alex was put in another program that was specifically designed to 'teach' him more languages. His father didn't want him to be without resources and therefore wasn't going to let any holes appear in his son's training. Alex was also instructed in the ways of the piano that though he found interesting to a certain degree, he disliked spending the time and effort practicing. It would only increasingly grow more and more stressful as time went on. Where some children that he shared classes with could simply go home and watch TV, he was forced to do rigorous things here and there. However, it did come with some benefits. He grew muscles early on, and thus he was decently attractive into his early teen years. For this reasons along with the fact that he seems to be mentally on top of things, most o the students around him liked him in some way or another. There were few that could really complain about some of his tendencies, and thus rather than actually like him, it was probably more along the lines of, they had nothing to complain about.
Alex was ten when his father decided to have him take a test. Apparently the boy wasn't moving fast enough for him, and he wanted to get Alex into high school courses at the very least. Though he was intelligent enough to pass the exam and get into high school courses, Alex was not emotionally ready for the trials that would befall him afterwards. High school was much harder than any of Alex's previous years. Appearance played a key role, and the young boy simply didn't have a strong enough understanding as to why. He could mathematically and chemically understand it for the most part. However, it was superficial and illogical to him. However, because he tended to shun this, his new peers tended to shun him in response. Alex had never felt so ostracized, and no matter what his teachers did, in some form or fashion, he began to hate school. His personality began to warp more than a little, and he became more and more cynical as time went on. He took several rounds of summer school and finished up high school in two years wanting to be done with it as soon as possible.
After high school, he applied to various colleges getting into several prestigious ones who recognized his flare in academics but finally settling on Cambridge if only because it was still close to 'home' where his father would rather him be. Though he was sometimes spiteful towards the old man as he chronically called him under his breath, Alex did care for him and still sought the father-son bond whether he admitted it or not. He continued to take hunting lessons and language courses in school, working in basics for a few years just to get a taste of everything there was out there. He finally settled on law and legal studies as his major, and that same year when he turned seventeen, he made his first real kill as a hunter.
It had been a surprise, really, that on his seventeenth birthday rather than get him the car he wanted, his father sent him out into the woods with only a knife and said 'find your way back home'. However, with as much as he had been trained over his childhood, Alex knew how to take care of himself. He ended up inadvertently running across werewolf lands, and during that time, a she-wolf attacked him for getting too close to her pups. He managed to fend her off and eventually end her but was then attacked by her mate. Managing to finish that one off as well, Alex made his way through the forest gaining wounds of varying degrees as he did so. When he finally managed to make it home, Alex remembered flopping on his door step only to wake up later with his father bandaging his wounds and telling him he had done good. It was the first time in a long time that Alex had heard those words and they made him smile.
It was only after that that Alex's father began to show him more and more of the Hunters. Family friends that he had never really considered to be anything more than ordinary people proved to be close hunters, and Alex found himself questioning why he had never suspected them to be as such before. He would be introduced to various hunters who would talk with him and share experiences, and in this way Alex learned things that he would never have any other way. It was when he was eighteen that he met the prior Solomon Lance, a man that seemed to demand respect at all instances. Alex would never admit that he was more than a little afraid of the man, but he was also the man that his father trusted the most. Thus Alex began to trust him in later years. He would also begin to learn about the others in Sector 12 and what they meant to his father and to him.
However, it was less than a year after he initially met the man his father trusted so highly that that very man would be killed. Alex had never seen his father so depressed after he had heard the news. However, when it was found out that rather than a werewolf or vampire, another creature killed the man, a human girl, Maxwell was almost outraged. However, those in the Sector were quick to jump on the 'rules and regulations' of the Sector, and Maxwell was reminded that if he wanted to keep peace, he would have to honor the code. However, instead of welcoming in the girl as the new Solomon Lance, Maxwell ordered his son to do so.
The first time Alex met Solly, he truly didn't know what to do. A part of him hated her for what she had supposedly done, yet the other part was intrigued that -as what one would consider a normal human, she had managed to kill one of the strongest hunters-. He ended up welcoming her, and in the days that turned into weeks after that, changes were made. Solomon took on a male persona, and those that knew shew as not a man were shut up. Alex didn't understand why at first but slowly came to realize that it was for Solly's benefit if she were a man. The Sector was more likely to accept a man as head- thus why the alias's name was male in origin, and Alex understood that and became guard of the secret.
It was after the incident that Alex found his father had actively began to start putting more of the leadership work on his shoulders. It was hard at first- especially balancing the law school he was still partly attending with the Hunter work. However, Alex managed to make it work. When he graduated in the top two percent of his class in law, Alex was able to then focus better on the Hunters, and it was during this time his father turned over almost all control to him. He thought briefly of starting up his own law firm as a cover story at the very least, but in less than a year, he found it too hard to deal with on top of over things and gave up on it.
As he took up the final piece of the power from his father, Alex stepped out as the new leader of the Hunters. Years of training had all but pruned him into what his father had always expected he would be- a functioning leader and a more than decent hunter. He dealt with things well and picked up unexpected instances with a surprisingly cool head. As years passed, Alex also grew closer to Solomon Lance. She was his second in command as the Solomon before her had been his father's second. He knew her secret, but that wasn't the only reason that she all but captivated him at times. Her strength was more than admirable, and at some point he realized just how much she meant to him.
That being said, they still had work, and work would always come first. He didn't want to obstruct her facade created over the years, and thus he left things alone despite how much he wanted her by his side more than anything- not as a second in command but as... well.. his wife, honestly. Though at times they clashed on things, he knew more than anything that he would do nearly anything she asked when it came down to it. They were equals as he saw it even if he was the leader and she followed directly under him.
Years upon years passed, and during a campaign against the warlocks, Alex finally proclaimed them extinct much to his own excitement. He had never expected that in his lifetime they would be completely obliterated, but from what reports showed, thy were gone. It was his first true victory, and he couldn't help but be excited about it. However, in that same year, his father was killed by a werewolf pack, and Alex reclused for a long time after that. He got over it eventually, but it still weighs heavy on his mental psyche today.
