:: THADDEAUS CORPUS :: Basics! :: AGE: 978,428 appears: 42 :: BIRTHDAY: February Eighteenth :: GENDER: Male :: SEXUALITY: Bisexual :: FACE CLAIM: David Boreanaz :: MEMBER GROUP: Dragon :: LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English, French, Latin, Dragon
Personality! :: LIKES: Sleepy lives up to his nickname, constantly sleeping whenever he can catch just a moment of time. He finds that, though he does have a job in a small town, he will freely take off as much time as he desires to simply go find some serene setting to take a quick nap. He quite often prefers the woods, and if he can catch a snooze in his actual dragon form, he will. Thaddeus loves to hunt. There is a certain thrill in finding the animal and tracking it, slowly and precisely. Whether he hunts the creature in his human form with a bow or in his dragon form with his teeth, he loves to kill. Don't think that this means he is overjoyed simply killing for sport, but once in a while the urge will come and he'll simply kill.
Thaddeus loves to have a pleasant time. If he can get a hold on a little bit of alcohol(he actually drinks quite a bit, when times are calm) and perhaps a few friends(he has a few, yes), he can have a grand old time. He doesn't really enjoy getting straight drunk and going over the rails, not remembering what happened the night before, but it has happened a few times. He enjoys the company of a certain type of people. These people might be classified as open minded, friendly, perhaps a bit roguish. He will honestly make friends with anyone, as he's a rather friendly guy, but there will mostly likely always be an air of mystery about him.
Sleepy loves collecting. Perhaps not hoarding, as he's not particularly protective of most of his objects, but he hides them away quite soundly. He's also quite upbeat about gaining power. Being as old as he is, Thaddeus has come to gain a lot of knowledge about the world. He's discovered much about the world, found records of ancient civilizations, discovered ancient languages, and has done a lot of genealogy within the dragon lineages. This comes from his love of exploring. Yet another reason why he's had a lot of jobs... He just isn't that concerned with maintaining a job.
Sleepy loves the colors blue, yellow, red, green and anything metallic. He isn't particularly obsessed with shiny things as some dragonkin are, but he likes certain colors.
In his spare time you can sometimes find him in the backroom of a small cottage he owns, writing rather frantically in a few volumes of books he has. These books contain information of the species of the world with supernatural abilities. He loves researching other supernatural creatures. Being able to know how to kill something, to avoid something and how to treat something else to perhaps, say, a treat, gives him the ability to stay alive. Or at least, unharmed.
Sleepy enjoys toying with those who fear him. After all, with his level of patience, added with the boredom he experiences rather frequently, if he doesn't toy with victims once in a while, what is he supposed to do? Of course, he doesn't often show his dragon form to civilians. :: DISLIKES: As dragons go, Thaddeus has a lot of things on his hate list. On this list would be hunters. He might not find them so annoying, as some of them are rather likable people, except for the fact that they seem to think they can do just about anything. He very much finds them annoying, and kills them as quickly as possible when they come around.
Modern day food is also something Thaddeus hates. The greasy hamburgers and carbonated soda has no taste to him, save it be one of disgust. He will go hungry for days, until he has time to hunt for himself. Along with other modern day things he doesn't enjoy, he'd have to include the modern technology. This spans from cars to phones. Electricity was not a good addition to life, in his opinion, and he doesn't care to use it. He has no idea how to drive or use a computer, and as for phones, he has never owned one, used one, or ever plans to. Modern fashion also catches his bad side for the most part as well. Though you won't find him walking around town in robes and top hats, he very much hates skinny jeans and tank tops and other degrading pieces of cloth that the women wear. He misses the old days.
Strangely enough, Sleepy generally dislikes other dragons. It's quite a rare thing to find a dragon as old as he, and those younger just seem to lack control and patience. If you can get on his good side, he likes having friends of his own species.
Thaddeus could care less for the color purple.
For the most part, so long as you're not judgmental and full of yourself, Sleepy will generally be able to get along with you. But he very much dislikes those who see themselves as more important than anyone else. If you were to know Thaddeus, you would discover he isn't as full of himself as other dragonkin often are. He lost interest in his self importance a few hundred thousand years ago. :: HABITS: Sleepy, when in his human form, can't help but always keep his hands busy. Whether it be fidgeting, drumming his fingers on something or picking at his nails, his hands are almost never still save when he is asleep.
When the hunters come around, Thaddeus tends to find himself in the habit of killing them in a certain way. This has given himself a rather astute name within the hunters.
:: STRENGTHS: Being a dragon, Sleepy has had a very long life to come up with skills he now possess. In this arsenal are some very deadly skills, including his mastery of several weapons in his human form. He has had time to learn how to shoot a bow with quite a bit of accuracy. He is also sufficient with swords and maces, things he picked up from medieval times.
In his reptilian form, he has the ability to breath fire as well as using his horns, teeth and claw to shred anyone to pieces.
Yet another strength his possess is, unsurprisingly, his sheer strength. It isn't surprising that, with his massive size, it would be a very difficult thing to overpower him. He is nearly two stories tall, after all. Associated with this is his natural defenses, which includes very thick scales, his insane ability to hear even in human form, his ability to see miles away and see in the dark, also in his human form, allow him to see attackers coming or trying to stalk him. He was built to fight, and knows how to take down something just as large as him, though it might be difficult. In all fairness, it would take an amazing feat to actually defeat him. :: WEAKNESSES: Sleepy has a problem with depression. With a very long past, and a strange fondness for human interaction, this dragon has found himself in love with many, and his heart has been broken, healed and shattered. Not to mention loss of friends and family. At any point he might be down. He usually perks up when something sparks his interest though.
Strange to think someone as old as Sleepy would be shy, but when it comes to females and his emotions for them, he is actually quite reserved If he has known that certain woman for long enough, he will probably be alright around them. But, sometimes, a girl just catches his eye and he become a recluse. Strange.
Thaddeus, even when he was just a teenage dragon trying to fight his way into adulthood, has never made alliances. He has always been a loner. This has led to a lot of injuries, near death experiences and quite a bit of loneliness. But all in all, this could easily be a strength in certain situations. :: OVERALL PERSONALITY: Thaddeus Corpus was raised by two extremely powerful dragons. He was raised to be a killer, and his training was completed at a much younger age than is traditional. He never really had time to discover friendship at a young age, being scarred with the traits of a loner from then on. Sure, he could acquire friends, but when he needs to get something done, he prefers to do it alone. This is not to say he doesn't enjoy socialization. A conversation with a smart enough being gives him quite a thrill. And this is for sure not to say that he would very much enjoy a bit of love in his life. Up to this point, he has found several women who captured his heart. And while all of them have died, he still isn't afraid of love.
After so many years of life, Sleepy has learned that patience truly is a virtue. Finding this dragon in a bad mood is quite a rare thing; he's not prone to rage. Just a few things will upset him, among those being trying to kill him, or his friends.
Thaddeus has always been one for adventure, and if he's not sleeping or working at some demeaning job, he'll be out around the world. With his ability to fly higher than is visible, or at least recognizably, and with the speed at which he can fly, arriving at his select destination of exploration is simple enough.
Sleepy is sure of himself. Not to the point that he'll challenge countless competitors and never back down, but if it really does come down to it, he knows what he is capable of, and he knows how much he can handle; now a days, that's quite a bit.
History! :: MOTHER: Elyah Corpus(deceased) :: FATHER: Percivel Corpus(deceased) :: SIBLINGS: Willim Corpus(deceased), Estelle Corpus(835,980) :: SPOUSE: none :: CHILDREN: none :: PETS: none
:: HISTORY: Year 0 Thaddeus Corpus was born to two of the strongest dragons of the age. Surprisingly, it wasn't an arranged marriage, and they were actually in love. That was a strange thing in those days. In any case, through out the years they had three children. Each of them were quite unique, and it took no time at all to see that the spawn of two very strong dragons created something of a new breed. Stronger, faster, smarter... Thaddeus was the first born, followed quite a few years later by Willim, and his sister Estelle. By the time these two were born, Thaddeus was already in a good position with most of the dragons in his world. Year 24,601 This year, Sleepy found himself in love with a very beautiful dragon. Smart and pretty, she was the first love of his life. They courted for some time, and Thaddeus was near to asking her hand in marriage when the father of this beauty decided it was time to move on. They left, and she didn't even bother to say goodbye before disappearing. Many years later, he received news that she had died in an accident. Year 143,856 His mother was killed by dragon hunters, after she'd gone to try and recover some missing records; she was an adventurer, always exploring. She was overpowered by at least fifty hunters, and the news of her death was brought to Thaddeus and his family by a wandering werewolf. The entire family was devastated, and for a very long time Thaddeus left his home. This absence lasted for quite a long time, as he took the killing of these hunters as his personal challenge. It took years, but he somehow found wind of one of them, by blood left behind at the scene of the murder, and he tracked every last one down since then. All except for one; that one is of course dead by now, save it might have been a magical creature.
Year 386,723 Sleepy is caught in a human war, having to use his drakonian abilities to aid humans in the fight against their enemies. The reason he helped them? They had his sister, and would kill her if he did not aid them. It was a sick, twisted affair. The other side had their own share of magical creatures, and Thaddeus almost met his fate, nearly killed by two other dragons. However, he managed to escape their grasp, killing them both. He hid in a cave, his wounds causing immense pain. While he was hiding away, his brother Willim went to search for him, and found his death from the very side that Thaddeus was being forced to aid. Hearing word of this, Thaddeus found anger in his soul once again, and proceeded to destroy the kingdom whom held his sister. He managed to free Estelle during the process and she escaped. You could imagine that he was forced into hiding for sometime after this, as neither side would have allowed him to live. So Estelle, his father Percivel and himself went away to hide in what would now be known as the Appalachian Mountains. They found there another colony of dragons and banded with them to create quite a powerful empire. Before long, the dragon folk of those mountains were revered around all of the world. Year 420,675 A war broke out between the King Percivel's people, and the vampires the lived near his mountains. Thaddeus' father had been named king by a vote of the people, for this just and fair way of life, as well as his ability to beat anyone at a fight. It would seem strange that vampires would pose any threat to dragons, but in all truth, any set of large number could take down a dragon with the right training. Fortunately there were hundreds of well trained dragon warriors in Percivel's kingdom. Thaddeus was named the battle master, or so saying, the head of the armies. He led them into battle and used strategy and stealth and strength to overpower to vampires and burn them to bits. However, a treaty was signed before all of the blood suckers were killed, and the war ended on a rather interesting note. A few dragons had died, while thousands of nightwalkers had been slain. While the dragons could have killed all of the creatures, Percivel's diplomacy and kind heart allowed them to live on. This caused an uproar within the kingdom, and Percivel stepped down from the throne, hoping to avoid being assassinated by one of his own people. He had no intention of causing a civil war. So a new ruler stepped up, and Pervicel left. Estelle left with her father and a few loyal followers, across the great ocean and into a new continent. Thaddeus stayed however, remaining in his position of battle master. Year 500908 Thaddeus finds himself in a predicament. Having fallen for the daughter of the king, he discovers it's not easy, being in love with a girl that had so many suitors. And so, he is constantly required to fight off one male after another. No one is a match, of course, for the battle master, but one can only fight for so long without finding it old. And that's just what happened. Though she was beautiful and smart and strong, he just didn't have the fighting spirit he required to continue fighting. And so, he followed after his father, leaving his kingdom. Some years after that, a scandal broke out, the king was murdered and the kingdom fell into rubble. The land is no occupied by bandits and rogues, anyone who can't find a home anywhere else. Thaddeus visits once in a while, excavating the ruins to try and find ancient artifacts of his people, and to keep the humans away from his old home.
Year 546,837 As the humans grew in size and as they became smarter, they seemed to forget their connection with the dragons. They shunned the very thought, and threw the species into folklore, where they were doomed to fade. However, the dragons didn't mind. This gave them the opportunity to explore a side they had previously not dared. Many of them now gave into their human side, transforming from their previously massive form for a much more humanoid form, though always a bit larger than the average homo sapien. They moved in among the humans, acquiring jobs among them and living their lifestyle. The purist dragons shunned those that joined with the human races, and a lot of issues arose from this. Thaddeus had to choose what he would do. While some were either one or the other, he chose a bit of both. Though he hardly went into the human towns, he did explore his ability to transform into his human form. His transformation was a difficult one with his initially large size. But he managed to get it done. He avoided the humans, for now at least.
Year 599,999 Almost into the six hundred thousandth year of his life, he decided he would have to celebrate somehow. He found his sister and his father, whom was nearly a million years old at the time, and took them out into the world. They had a glorious time, and he made sure to treat them to some discoveries he found. While they were together, he discovered they were going to explore a humanoid life, and that they were going to live there for some time. The thought disturbed him, but he let them be, promising to visit once in a while. He wasn't sure the idea was pleasant, but he went along with it.
Year 653,901 Sleepy lost his father this year. After Sleepy's father and sister decided to live with the humans, they ran into trouble with how things worked. They moved quite a bit, but never really grew accustomed to the way of life that the humans had. Many dragons had this problem, and found that they were being attacked and shunned quite often. Percivel and Astelle had just moved into a new home, when the house was attacked. In the middle of the night, the house burst into flames and the attackers stood surrounding the home, ready to kill them. They burst out the front door, still in human form. Percivel made his daughter run for her life, taking on all of the attackers. Estelle got away, with just a few scrapes and bruises, but Percivel was much less fortunate. He was killed, and the attackers left his body to rot. However, Estelle found her brother and they returned to the scene of the crime. Humans were crowding the area, and Thaddeus lost his temper, shooing them away with the threat of their life. He took his father's body, still in human form, away and into the mountains of the old kingdom. He and his sister had a proper burial and stood vigil over the next few days, mourning for the death of their father. Over the next few days, thousands turned up to pay their last respects to their good king. It was amazing how many made the journey, and even vampires and werewolves came to show their respects. Thaddeus stood by in the shadows, overseeing and protecting his sister.
Year 734,378 Sleepy found this year that he could get along with humans. Not all humans, and in fact not most humans, but he found that the smarter, more patient ones actually held good conversation. He was traveling with his sister, along the forested ridges of a high mountain range. There they found a monastery with very refined monks. They wore black robes that covered their faces, and studied the cultures of all people. They worshiped nature, and Sleepy found the concept very interesting. So, he and his sister stayed with these monks for sometime. He studied along with these monks, the silence of nature taking seed in his heart. After a few years, he found that rage and anger were almost none existent in his soul. Friends were found in the monastery, and Thaddeus showed his appreciation every day. Before long, he revealed to them his true form, and they accepted it. Strange to think humans could find comfort in their friend having such a secret, but instead they welcomed his difference. It wasn't long until they were studying a dragons connection with nature, and he discovered things about his own power that he had never known before. He found new ways to do old things. It came the time, however, that Thaddeus felt the urge to move on. He got that urge sometime, and so he went. Estelle stayed with the monks, and they allowed her to stay, being on the only female in the monastery.
893,001 There was something about beautiful blond women with green eyes, and with long legs and pale creamy skin. With red pouting lips and small, gentle voices. Thaddeus found himself one. Human, but none the less, a beautiful creature. Though it was forbidden, the two fell into love and found that parting hurt, almost physically. He could come at her call, and she defied her strict parents for him. The two were inseparable whenever possible, and the love between the two could be seen in the air. The way he held her, tight and safe and the way she cupped his face in her hands... it was a sweet sight, even to those who were against their love. His secret was known to her, and she found his species fascinating. He took her to marvelous places, and showed her the beauties of the kingdom his father once ruled. He told her of his mother and his father and his brother, and she held him in her freckled arms. She told him of her past, abusive and cruel as it was. They were comfortable and in love, perfect for one another. But of course, all things must come to the end. Until the end of her days, as she aged and he remained young, he was beside her, loving her and giving her anything she wanted or needed. The day she died, he held her in his arms for hours, hardly breathing, hardly living. It took years until he was back to his old self, and even then anything that reminded Sleepy of her, he slipped back into depression. His darling Christina... The thought of her still rungs through his head every day, though he doesn't let himself live in the past. She would have wanted him to be happy.
Year 978,428 This is his current year of life, and at the moment he is living in a small english town. He works at a book store, where he enjoys enthralling conversations with an old man that works there. He travels nearly every weekend to different parts of the world. He meets many people and has quite a few old friends. His sister still lives at the monastery, where she is revered as the oldest and wisest. He visits the burial sites of this family members every year, sometimes more if he can manage it. Thaddeus is currently trying to avoid the hunters, who have recently caught word of him. He misses his Christina, but hasn't closed him mind to new love, and he is always looking for new things to try. Life is good, and he does his best to enjoy it.
Out Of Character! :: YOUR NAME/ALIAS: Sigma :: YOUR AGE: Seventeen :: CONTACT: here :: ROLEPLAY EXPERIENCE: Seven + years :: OTHER CHARACTERS: none
:: ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE: The hillside, gentle and rolling, was fogged and seemed to glow. The rising sun shed its light, being trapped in the mist, gave no warmth, the air chilly and cold. Sleepy's eyes, dark and just as foggy as the hillside, started out over the rolling landscape before him. The dragon, in his human form, stood in just a pair of loose sweat pants, his hand shoved into the pockets. His mind was lingering on the past, as it did only once in a great while. He could see a face mingled in the fog, the sweet lips and the wavy blond locks. She was perfect, even now, thousands of years later.
He could only imagine what it would look like, to see a lone man standing so far out in the english countryside in the freezing air. He shook the thoughts from his head and continued on his jog. His legs ran him quite a way past where he thought he would, the endurance of a dragon stuck in the body of a man. He ran much farther than any human he'd ever seen. His legs took him to the edge of the continent, and to the expanse of sea that washed out before him. The creature had many memories of the sea, including a rather long trek he had taken with his family. Across the ocean was his old home, a place he visited quite often. His father was there, buried in the kingdom he once ruled. He missed that place, almost more than any other place he had visited. Yet again, the dragon forced the idea from his mind.
He ran back to his small cottage in the hills, a few miles from the village in which he worked. Thaddeus might have been afraid of finding himself with a wild beast or a bandit or a theif in his house, so far away from any other house, but he had no fear. With his natural abilities, he had no fear of any human, or any other creature for that matter. The door creaked open, a problem he hardly cared to fix. A small fire was smoldering within the fireplace, and as he threw another log onto the fire, he turned to look for where he'd left the shirt he might have worn on his run. Shrugging off the thought, he smiled to himself and began whistling as he wandered through the house. There was no shower in the small cottage, and if he wanted a bath he would have to take a quick trip to the stream nearby to get water. Living a simple life had been taught to him in the monastery. There was no food, and no fridge at that. Anything he could catch was kept in a cellar underneath the house. This included cheeses and wines, something he rather enjoyed.
Sleepy smiled to himself as he went to sit in a home fashioned chair, smoking at an old pipe. He slowly rocked back and forth, still shirtless and very much relaxed. The dragon tipped his head back, and very slowly, found himself dozing off. After all, it was time for one of his daily naps.
