:: SOLOMON LANCE ::LANCE DESIGN SKETCH(It'll probably change a lot until I actually make it something I like.) (It actually looks so crappy now I just want to laugh at it. xD) (What does she look like dressed as a guy, you ask? Well, use your imagination because this woman has no male lookalikes and I am done with searching! Oh, and I refuse to change the FC because that would be weird.) Basics! :: NICKNAMES: Solly :: AGE: Thirty-six (36) :: BIRTHDAY: January 1st :: GENDER: Female (or is she? jokes!) :: SEXUALITY: Straight :: FACE CLAIM: Aleksa Palladino :: MEMBER GROUP: Hunter (Sector 12 Leader) :: LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English, Italian, French, Indonesian and Russian
::APPEARANCE: (Just a couple of little things.)
Upon making the decision to have herself shown as a guy to the Hunters, Solly had to take out her earrings and let her single ear piercings close up. She also at the time had a bellybutton piercing that she did the same with. As the piercings closed up they left faint, almost unnoticeable dots a little darker than her skin tone. As with the rules of the Hunters and of Sector 12, Solly has two tattoos, choosing for them to sit on the back of her left shoulder blade, one being a H and the other S12.
When she does dress as a guy, which is quite often and anytime she will be seen by others, she wears a wig that is a shade or two lighter than her hair colour and loose, baggy shirts and jeans that are meant to hide her curves and feminine shape while note getting too in the way for when she goes hunting. She prefers to wear darker and plainer colours. Personality! :: LIKES:
- Hunting: Even with her not becoming a Hunter until her early twenties, Solly has found a love in hunting and killing those who deserve to die.
- Weapons: Introduced to them really for the first time during her Hunter training, Solly has developed an interest in weapons and while she usually sticks to her lance, knives or guns, she does like to learn about other weapons and know how to use them.
- Alexander Lyons: With the fact that she had dated a good amount of people before she joined the Hunters without feeling much for them, she wasn't really sure if she would find a partner. Alex changed that thought and Solly isn't too sure how she would have really gotten through everything she has without him there.
- Books: As part of her being able to make things interesting enough to keep her attention at school, she gained a love for books. It was truthfully her secret weapon in school, if there was an interesting book that could teach her about the subject, she'd learn it and be happy doing it.
- Laughing: It might be a weird thing to like but then, everyone likes a good laugh, right? Solly can be pulled out of any kind of bad mood she might find herself in by a laugh whether it be from a joke or someone making an idiot of themselves.
- Cross Country (or running in general): The only sport she participated in at school. She loved to run, being build small but with considerably long legs she can run far and run fast. It's something that can help her a lot when she's hunting. It's also something that helps her to relax, she'll often go for a run when she's feeling stressed.
- Lycan Jerky: Although she doesn't like to admit it, she's eaten the addictive jerky on more than one occasion and she can often find herself mindlessly chewing on it.
:: DISLIKES:
- Supernatural Creatures: Her biggest dislike, actually, her biggest hate. She hates them, all of them, but then she does have more of a personal hate towards vampires and werewolves than dragons. Vampires because one attacked her the night that she originally became Solomon Lance. Werewolves because one had killed her sister.
- Protettores: She may not have grown up learning about how annoying they can be but she sure as hell worked it out quickly for herself. She doesn't see why they bother trying to stop the Hunters from killing and she just sees them as annoying pests like she sees flies and cockroaches.
- Powerful Women: A dislike caused by jealousy. Because of her fear of people knowing she's a women, because of her mindset that tells her everything thinks of women as weak she can't stand to see any women in a position of power.
- People too focused on manners and behaviour: They remind her too much of her mother and how she had tried to make all her children in to perfectly mannered and perfectly behaved people. She knows manners and proper behaviour have their place but she doesn't think they're needed all the time or that they should be overly important.
- Pasta: It's her most hated food, she has no idea why but she just hates it and will avoid it at all costs. Spaghetti and lasagna are no goes for her.
- Heavy Lifting: She's built small and she'd never bothered with trying to build up muscle. If there's any sort of heavy lifting needing to happen she'll try to get someone else to do it,
- Being Alone: For someone who didn't know her well, they wouldn't be able to tell but this woman hates being stuck by herself. She blames it on the social nature of humans and that could just about be true. Her job though quite often leads to her being stuck in her office by herself though. Being lonely is termed a little differently for her in one way, she isn't alone with a book so a break to do some reading can often make her feel a lot better if there's no chance of being around another person.
:: HABITS:
- Tapping her foot: This habit of hers is probably the most musical part about her, if there's music playing she'll tap her foot along as if she were playing the bass drum on a drum-kit and if there isn't music, she'll quite often be tapping it anyway.
- Scratching the back of her neck: She isn't sure whether it was from trying to learn how to act like a guy and seeing so many of them doing it or whether it was a habit she gained on her own but it's there and it's mostly just a nervous habit.
- Scratching her head: Only when she's wearing her wig. It itches, a lot, can you blame her?
:: STRENGTHS:
- Small and Fast: In terms of physical strengths, this is her main one. She's built small and light and she can run really fast. Being able to move fast helps her in a lot of situations including hunting.
- Almost Fearless: While she had a good few fears and could be easily snuck up on and made to jump before becoming a Hunter, Solly has just about gotten rid of her fearful side through training and hunting. She can face any sort of monster without fear but then if you were to sneak up behind her and say boo she may still jump and scream. I did say almost fearless.
- Good Actor: Kind of a given for her whole situation. She has to make sure everyone doesn't suspect her of being a girl but she does use it in other ways as well. She is known to occasionally make hunting more of a game by pretending to be a Protettore and tricking a vampire or werewolf before killing them.
- Smart: She turned school into something she was interested in and she has a natural want to learn. She's book smart. She doesn't learn quickly but once she does learn something she doesn't forget it.
- Adjusts Quickly: From starting school as a kid to being thrown into the world of the Hunters, Solly can adjust to change quickly.
- Intimidating: If she were shouting at you, you would do exactly what she was telling you to do. She's usually calm and can very often be quiet but if she feels the need to try and control a situation, she's able to. She can bring a room to silence and she's lucky to have a naturally powerful voice.
:: WEAKNESSES:
- Weak: Physically. She doesn't have muscle and she's never bothered trying to build it. She'd much rather leave anything that involves heavy lifting to others. She personally doesn't see it as a weakness, she prefers to be fast rather than strong.
- Can't Stand Cold Weather: She relies on her speed and in thick, layered clothes she's slower. She just doesn't work too well in the cold either, she's more likely to make mistakes.
- She's not a Guy: But almost everyone thinks she's one. It's hard, always having to make sure she doesn't let it slip, making sure she's got her wig and the right clothes on and even just making sure her voice doesn't give out too much of a feminine tone. She's always being careful with her actions and it isn't easy.
- Isn't Creative: A downfall on her hunting skills, if there's a situation that needs a creative solution to get out of, she's stuck. She can throw a knife or shoot a gun but if she was to be surrounded by a pack of werewolves she wouldn't have much of a choice but to hope she was quick enough to kill them before they killed her, she wouldn't have the ability to come up with a plan to get her into a safer position.
- Stubborn: She isn't one to give up on an argument, if you try to debate with her you have to be ready to waste a lot of time trying to tire her out. Most of the time she'll get her way because she's perfectly happy to stand there and continue to argue her point until she wins but this doesn't help because it means she'll often ignore what others are trying to tell her. This can change depending on her mood.
- Tree Nut Allergy: A severe allergy that could kill her if it caught her by surprise. She always has to carry around an EpiPen and be careful of what she eats.
:: OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Living what can seem like one big lie, it's almost a surprise how honest, kind and sometimes well-mannered Solly can really be. The better part of her personality comes from multiple sources but can mostly be tracked back to the constant pestering by her mother about manners and behaviour that even if Solly wished had never happened, managed to sink in. When she wants to be she can be polite and friendly, and does well in social situations. With her position as the Sector 12 leader, this is something she needs to be and she knows that it helps make a lot of situations easier if she comes off as friendly rather aggressive. It isn't what she's always like though and at the first sight of a situation going downhill she can turn intimidating and aggressive to silence a crowd or move attention towards her. While that skill can be helpful, it isn't always used for the best as she'll use it as a way to win an argument and prove her side right whether it is or not.
She's smart and she knows she is. Starting with her skill at finding extra books on a subject and learning that way, she's gained a lot of knowledge and she sometimes overestimates how much she does know and puts on a mindset that she knows everything. Her book smarts mixed with her stubbornness do nothing good for those trying to tell Solly something that could prove her wrong. The best way to get your opinion or ideas through is to watch her mood, when she's happier than normal or overly tired she usually can't be bothered with arguing. Need something urgently listened to? She loves a good laugh, whether it be from a joke or from someone making an idiot of themself and that can put her in good enough mood to not argue with you.
When she's hunting, she can be seen at her best because of how much she loves it. She's fast, she's small and she's good at using her weapons of choice. Her main weapons include her silver-tipped lance, throwing knives and she usually carries around a gun for the ease of use. Knives are her favourite weapon for sure, she finds an odd joy in throwing them and watching them hit their target, maybe because that was how she killed the Solomon Lance before her. There really isn't anything that she can compare to hunting and she'll tell you that she never feels as happy as she does when she's hunting. A good hunting trip can mean werewolf bodies to drag away to be used for fur and meat though and that's when she'll try to slip away to not have her mood destroyed by that.
If there's one thing Solly will tell you about constantly having to pretend to be a guy, it's that it makes her almost desperate to be a girl when she can. A party where she can go as "Sally" or a holiday to a place where she's almost sure they wouldn't be someone she knows there; she doesn't feel like herself as much with the wig and guys clothes, there's just a feeling of freedom, like the freedom that she craved as a teen, that comes with being able to be herself completely. She's always worried about talking too much like a girl, sitting the wrong way giving away the fact that she has feminine curves, even that a strand of hair might slip out from under her wig and this big lie is really the only reason she wishes she'd never become Solomon Lance in the first place.
If she were to have never become a Hunter, she has no idea what she would have done with her life. She didn't really gain any kind of hobbies during her childhood and teen years unless you count getting okay grades in school and actually learning the content as a hobby. Since her free time was spent a lot with either studying or partying, she never found a need for a hobby. Her whole life is just about only hunting and her job as the Sector 12 leader. It's almost as if she were born a Hunter, not made one at the end of her teen years. History! :: MOTHER: Lily Lerman (dead) human :: FATHER: Aaron Lerman (dead) human :: SIBLINGS: Lockie, 25, human Nicole (dead) werewolf Katrina, 33, human :: SPOUSE: Not yet (I had to) :: CHILDREN: Nope :: PETS: Nup
:: HISTORY:
Sally Lerman, being the first born child of the year at the local hospital, you could say was meant to be special from birth but there was nothing special given to the fact by her parents. She had three siblings, an older sister (Nicole), a younger sister (Katrina) and a younger brother (Lockie), and she was treated the same as all of them, a tough upbringing that worked wonders for her siblings but not for her. Her mother only wanted to do the best for her children, teaching her children to be polite and well-behaved. It was tough for all four of the children though, constantly being watched, having to sit straight or talk using the right words or just get told off for doing something as small as not smiling while talking. Their mother wanted to the best, they wanted some freedom. It was only one of them, Sally, who actually pursued the freedom she wanted.
Her rebellion is the thing she both hates and loves about her childhood, starting from a young age and really doing nothing good for her until that day that it all ended and changed. It started with school, letting things drop like manners and it grew into a beast that almost caused her to be expelled from school multiple time in her high school years. She became the trouble-maker or as a lot would call it, the attention seeker. That wasn't the worst of it, talking back to teachers or throwing pens at other students in the class, it was more of a beginning. The parties started in grade 9, large uncontrollable parties filled with underage drinking and trouble in general. They were normal, it was what happened when teens got together and didn't have someone watching over their shoulder or at least that's what they all said. The freedom that Sally could see in these parties convinced her to go with her friends one night and somewhat of an obsession or addiction began from there.
She would behave herself to a point at home, trying to keep her freedom by making her parents think it didn't exist, knowing that about the worst thing she could think of happening was her parents not trusting her. If they didn't trust her, she wouldn't be able to go to parties, it was as simple as that. She would work well at school, she really would. She wasn't dumb, she had a lucky talent as she liked to call it, she could find an interest in almost anything and to her that was all you needed to keep you going at school. She wasn't a straight A student but she was above average and doing more than well enough to please her parents. It was a good way to keep her mind occupied as she waited for the next party, it was an addiction in the way that she craved them but it could be control if she had other things to think about.
As her high school years ended, the parties, the drinking, the craving of freedom didn't follow suit. Moving away from her parents at the first opportunity possible, she moved in with friends, often having to move from one friend's place to another over a fight or just because the friend didn't feel like Sally couch-crashing any longer. To make sure she was never left without a place to go, Sally started to date. She didn't want to or more she didn't want to date the type of guys she did, the ones she'd meet at parties, the ones that were about as bad as her. It could have been that it showed her just how crap her life was, could have been that she somehow thought she deserved better or it could have been that she wasn't into the type of guy who was lacking in the brain department but she always found dating at that stage as a necessary thing to make it certain she would have the needed shelter.
They say that a person never changes unless dragged into a situation where they are brought face-to-face with death, This was to happen to Sally, at some unthinkable hour in the morning when she was nineteen in the backyard of a friend who she was currently staying with. She was getting rid of the last remains of off food from a party she had been at early that night and she sat down on the grass, watching the forest that the house backed. She would have passed out from exhaustion if it hadn't been for what happened next. Pale as a ghost, a man ran out from the forest at a speed that made him look like a blur. As Sally would learn later, it was a vampire, but at the time she was in shock, wondering just had much she had drunk and if she had taken anything. The thing, the vampire, stopped and stared at Sally for hardly a moment before it smiled, a grin that could be described as nothing but insane.
Scrambling to her feet, Sally bolted as fast as she could into the trees that the vampire had ran out from. She felt as if she wouldn't move fast enough, the blurring speed of the thing running through her mind as she tried to make her escape. Her foot flew into the air and her face hit the ground. She'd tripped over a knife. She grabbed for the knife as fast as she could, her grip on it tight enough to turn her knuckles white and she pulled herself to her feet to see the vampire standing not too far from her. A grin was still spread across his face as he watched her but a second after she saw him, he ran towards her again. She felt a surge of panic and something that might be related in some way to bravery or stupidity rise up in her as she decided to stand her ground and hold the knife out towards the oncoming monster. As the metal pressed against his skin, it slid as if he were made of ice and it was moved out of Sally's grip.
This could have very easily been the end of Sally's story. One ice cold hand was on her bare shoulder, one was pulling on her hair to tilt her head to the side and expose her neck. She didn't know what was happening, she just knew it wasn't good. The monster's mouth opened and the last she saw of him was the flash of razor sharp fangs. She landed with a thud on the grass and a sudden glow lit up the forest in nothing but an apocalyptic scene. Orange glowed on the grass, the trees, the leaves and it was almost the only light there apart from the soft glow of the three-quarter moon above. She looked up to see another man with his back to her and the vampire up in flames. She panicked, of course she was going to panic, and reached for the knife she could see in the glow of the flames. She didn't care about the fact that the other man, the one standing and facing the burning vampire, had just saved her, she was worried that she might be the next one up in flames and she threw the knife.
If anyone had seen it, they would have said she had good aim but she knew it had just been pure, horrifying luck. The knife hit the guy in the back in the perfect spot to go through his heart.
There ended her life as Sally Lerman and began her life as Solomon Lance.
She'd killed the highly ranked leader of the elite group of Hunters called Sector 12. She didn't know that at the time of course but she would learn it in soon enough time. You could almost say it was fate for it to happen though, the vampire being there, the Hunter being there, her being there, the knife throw, it all seemed so unlikely to happen and yet it did. There was also the small fact of the shared initials SL. In the shock of everything, she decided to run. She grabbed the man's bag, which contained food and weapons, things that might be helpful to her and she started traveling through the forest. She didn't feel like she could continue living life the same and she was right about that, life wouldn't ever be the same again.
It wasn't long until she came across another Hunter. When she woke up the next morning, having fallen asleep against a tree in the forest, she was faced with the hunting partner of the man she had killed. There was an arrow aimed at her throat and a woman who didn't look as if she were bluffing. Sally held her hand up slowly and sat there, watching the arrow. "Why do you have Solomon's bag?" the woman asked. Sally made her way through an explanation, her voice hardly audible, without the woman firing the arrow. The woman stared for a moment when Sally had stopped talking and lowered her bow. "I guess you're the new Solomon then. I'd kill you but I don't want that position."
From there on she was known as Solomon Lance, or Solly. She found that Solly was easier for her, only a letter difference from her previous name. She was trained as a Hunter, years of training until she was allowed to take up her position as the new Sector 12 leader. During the early stages of her training she began crossdressing. It wasn't the training making her a bit crazy, it was the fear that she had of becoming someone of power and being a girl. It was her mother's influence, she knew that, her mother having always given the impression that girls are weak. She didn't have many others opinions to go by and so the fear that that image was common appeared and she decided that she couldn't put herself in a dangerous position like that. To be safe she had to make everyone think she was a guy. Only a few know of her real gender, including Alexander Lyons.
It seemed that her near death experience with the vampire and having the sudden luck of killing the old Solomon did well for her. She changed and that was obvious, she became more focused, she became more positive and she gained an easy hatred of the supernatural creatures from her own personal experience. It almost seemed as if her now having a real purpose gave her reason to act better. She went through training well, she wasn't strong but she was small and fast and she found herself just about having fun learning to use weapons. Her first kill was what completed her training and it was a werewolf, one she was later find out was her older sister. By the time she did find that out though, she was past the point of thinking that any of the creatures could be human in anyway, she thought as the thing she had killed as a monster in her sister's body, her sister having been already dead.
