Hunters
History
The Hunters were started by Robert Lyons not even a month after he discovered the supernatural world. He was scared and angry when he found out about the supernatural species, especially by how the vampires have to live by feeding off of humans. When he decided to start the Hunters he began by telling his wife and a few of his close friends, only one of his friends decided to listen and join, his wife and other friends thought he had become insane.
It took a while but Robert did eventually manage to start getting a steady stream of people joining the hunters by killing his first werewolf and vampire and using them to prove to the people he was trying to recruit that he wasn’t insane. When he started getting a steady stream of people joining, he starting training people. He spent weeks working out what the Hunters would need to know and ending up coming up with a two month training plan. It seemed successful until the first people to finish it went out and tried to kill a werewolf, vampire or warlock but ended up getting themselves killed instead. When that began to happen the whole training system had to be rethought and he had to learn more about the supernatural species he was trying to kill.
He used different weapons and techniques to see what kill each creature. He nearly got killed multiple times but managed to stay alive long enough to write down basic tips on thing deadly to the creatures but died not long after that. His son continued the Hunters, creating new training plans and finding out a lot more about how to injure and kill the supernatural species. The Hunters managed to stay in the Lyons family for only four generations before it started moving to the care of different families.
Nothing that big has happened in the history of the Hunters except for the great developments in technology to kill the creatures and also just to help them with being stealthy and unseen by people that don’t know about the supernatural world. There have also been a few developments in the training plans including one written for children of Hunters so that they could have some Hunters that are trained from when they’re toddlers.
Becoming a Hunter
Around three quarters of Hunters choose to become a Hunter when they are either an adult or a teenager and the other quarter are trained from when they are only toddlers by their parents and do not a get a choice in being a Hunter.
If someone is to choose to become a Hunter when they are an adult or teenager they have to go through five years of intense training to make them fit enough for what they need to do and so they can learn all the skills to be able to kill, defend themselves and know ways to take apart packs and covens while staying a secret to the normal human society. The training is quite harsh and not all make it to the end. Those who can’t complete the training are punished, usually killed because they know way too much to be let go and they aren’t needed by the Hunters.
Children that are born into Hunter families do not get a choice in becoming a Hunter or not and neither do the parents get a choice if they train their children or not. The Hunters have a rule to make it compulsory for all children born into Hunter family to go through training and become a Hunter though if the child does choose that they don’t want to in their late teens before they become an adult they do get a chance to forget everything they have learnt and run away to live in the normal human life.
Training for children born into Hunter families starts from when they can walk and talk and finishes when they turn eighteen. The training is less harsh than the training for those deciding to become Hunters later in life but the children learn the same things. Children are also made to kill from the very young age of ten, they are taken on their first hunting trip at that age and the idea is that they do not go home until they have killed something. Often these trips are a few days long but sometimes they can go for weeks.
When a Hunter completes their training they are tattoo in a place of their choice with the Hunters tattoo which is a styled “H”. Once they have been tattooed they have to sign a contract with the current leader of the Hunters which makes them a Hunter for life.
Skills
While Hunters are going through training they learn a lot of different skills. Even though there is the plan to try and make sure all Hunters know the same skills, different trainers will still teach different skills. Here is a list of the different skills that Hunters learn.
- Fitness
- Basic Weapon Training
- Advanced Weapon Training (in a weapon of choice.)
- Technology Training
- Basic Self Defense
- Survival Skills
- Tracking
Like the Protettores, the Hunters do have information to learn as part of their training. The information they learn is more about the species weaknesses but it is about the way they live and stuff similar to make it easier for Hunters to find species and know the best times to go hunting.
Secrecy
The only secrecy that the Hunters live with is with the council. The Hunters have successfully over the years kept themselves a secret from the supernatural council and they want to stay that way until they are outnumbering the supernatural species. Hunters are also told to try and stay a secret from any Protettores in the area, try to blend in so they won’t be targeted by the other group.
Leaving
If you decide to leave the Hunters you are killed. It is that simple, you don’t get any choice, you either stay in the Hunters and continue to kill the supernatural species or you are killed.

Hunter: Sector 12 Crash Course
If you are reading this then you are obviously one of the dozen hunters known as Sector 12. If you are not, then please close this book now or you will be dead before you finish reading this.
Introduction:
Welcome to Sector 12. This prestigious hunter class acts as the arms, legs, and weapons of the current Lyons head. Each of the hunters in this class is the top of his/her rank and deserves the respect of all other hunters. However, they are still below the Lyons head. One can identify a Sector 12 member by a S12 tattoo somewhere on each of the members.
Explanation:
There are only 12 members of Sector 12, and each of these members has an inherited alias to protect their original identity and what family they may have that are still alive. Those that enter Sector 12 are expected to be willing to completely part with their old lives when they take up these aliases, and any references to old names are not tolerated. The aliases were constructed by Robert Lyons and adopted by those he chose to name. Each of the last names was designed to be a special weapon that each of the 12 wield.
The aliases are as followed: Solomon Lance Iris Trident Natsuki Kunai Alister Rapier Camila Chackram Ice Claymore Yuan Shuriken Jade Shield Koda Dagger Lucius Misericorde Arthur Saber Nikolai Scythe
There was a 13th one with the last name Quarterstaff whose line and title as part of the elite was destroyed after the Sector war described in the history.
Weapons:
Each weapon that the 12 carry is specialized and has properties like no other. Not going into detail of each weapon, all of the weapons have been placed with a warlock spell that causes it to identify its master (this was done far into the past when the warlocks were still alive, and the magic on the weapons still exists today due to permanency). Those that do not carry the right to use the weapon cannot wield the weapon, and in some instances, the weapon itself will actually kill those that try to use it without the right.
Status:
As one of the 12, each of the Sector members is head of his/her area of the world. If a member is unable to lead his/her area due to death/extreme illness then it falls to Solomon to nominate hunters to take on the job while the Sector member is absent. However, Solomon is not allowed to elect himself due to the fact that he is already head of the Sector.
Inheritance:
Because death is common, the weapon is passed down through the generations by weapon wielders taking up apprentices that eventually take their place. However, there are strict rules as to the inheritance of such alias and weapon. First, the only way a weapon can be passed is if its previous owner is dead. Secondly, those that wield the weapon and bear the alias are socially tied to the current Lyons head and are subject to his direct order. Any betrayal of the current Lyons will result in the weapon killing the betrayer. Thirdly, those that wield the weapon and bear the alias can never return to their original state and will remained tied by the contract with the Lyons head. This cannot be avoided.
Apprentice Info:
It is customary that each of the 12 choose an apprentice to train by the time they turn forty. Most will take on an apprentice earlier than this for various reasons. The most common reason so far is that apprentices have been the children of their masters. However, instances where a child is adopted into apprenticeship have been relatively common.
Apprentices are normally trained in not only weapon wielding but leadership skills that will be required when they eventually take over. However, Sector 12 masters are free to train their apprentices in any form or fashion of their choosing except in the case and place that Solomon Lance chooses to interfere for some reason.
If a Sector 12 member dies before even beginning to raise an apprentice, Solomon Lance is required to find a suitable replacement that must be verified by the current Lyons head. With the approval of the Lyons head, the weapon should accept its new master.
If the apprentice is too young at the time of his or her master’s death, he or she may be taken care of by one of the other members of the Sector or placed in another home. This is to be determined by the Solomon Lance.
History Key Points:
The first Sector was named Sector 13 because it had 13 members and was designed to function as the arms, legs, and weapons of Robert Lyons. The Sector members spread out across the world and oversaw major hunting projects and recruitment. As years passed, each of the original hunters trained an apprentice who took the role and served under the Lyons head. Things moved well for a time, and most were productive.
Years into a new Lyon's reign, a skirmish occurred between the Sector members which would later be known as the Sector War. It is not entirely understood what started it, but nearly every Sector member was involved in some form or fashion. By the time it was over, over half of the Sector members and many of their apprentices had been killed in the process. Those that were left were considered the 'victors' of the war and forged alliances with one another and with the Lyons head. Solomon Lance emerged as the head of the 'new' Sector, and his title has remained as Sector head since. In order to rebuild the Sector, Solomon assisted the Lyons head in choosing new hunters for the sector.
Twenty years after the first Sector War, the thirteenth member of the Sector with the given surname Quarterstaff tried to seize power from the Lyons head and Solomon Lance. Quarterstaff was apprehended and destroyed in the most brutal of fashions. His weapon was sealed away, and his apprentice was executed. It was one of the most violent showings of intolerance within the Sector since the Sector war.
Three years after, Quarterstaff's weapon disappeared form lock up. Solomon Lance personally pursued the matter but never found the weapon in question. It was ruled that anyone who was found with the weapon would be dealt with accordingly, yet over the years it has all but become a myth of sorts.
As years have gone by, the Sector still remains in prestige.
