Alex was grinning rather smugly as he looked back at the base for a moment and then back at Solly. "It was just a simple smoke screen, so everyone in there'll be fine," he commented before addressing what sh had said. "And... I probably should have addressed at least a few of them on the matters that they were there for, but...." He shrugged his shoulders with a strangely mischievous look in his eye. "I needed a no-distraction hunting trip."
With that, Alex found his eye moving towards the beach about a mile away where people put their boats and things. Alex didn't have a bot of his own but didn't doubt that someone there would give him one. Looking towards Solly again, Alex seemed to settle back into a relaxed smile. "How 'bout we walk to the docks for now and then get a boat to another island?" he suggested now with the full details played out in his mind.

Solly had known it was a smoke screen and that it was harmless, she really wasn't that stupid. She had meant that if she had been in his shoes, she really would have hurt someone and maybe not just a little sore here and there, if she hurt someone it was usually bad. She never seemed to be able to hurt someone a tiny bit, that had been almost a curse she'd gotten after killing the last Solomon Lance by accident because the guy had scared her after she'd already been scared to death by a thirsty vampire. It kind of made her laugh to think back to that night and how she had been partying and how she had so easily been scared. She was almost never scared now and if she could back to that night she was pretty sure she would have killed the guy on purpose not by accident. She did love her job now.
A no-distraction hunting trip sounded just perfect and she smiled. His plan sounded good, to get a boat and head over to another island. She really didn't care too much where they went hunting. "Yeah, sounds like a good plan." she said, slipping her hands back in her jean pockets as they began to walk.

Alex nodded and continued walking. The air was somewhat thicker than usual, and it smelled of rain, yet Alex ignored it for now. If they had to make it a fast trip, then at least they had had a trip. Catching sight of the docks now, Alex waved to a few guys who appeared to be working very methodically on a boat not far off. They were hunters, of course, yet they were also seamen by nature and were far more willing to be relaxed around the hunter head than a few people back at the base. A red haired man seemed to jump down from the boat he had been on to address Alex and Solly.
"Hey, Mistah Lyons," the red haired man stated in a very odd accent at least for the area. "The sea lanes... them'd be closed due to the approaching storm." Alex put a hand to his chin and seemed to think for a moment. No. He wasn't going to let the weather ruin his hunting.
"We're just going to the island over there," Alex smiled. "It won't be too far." The red haired man looked wary but finally shrugged his shoulders and smiled before pointing towards a boat and then getting back to work. Alex turned his head, and sure enough, the boat was already untied and seemed to be waiting for them.

Solly watched as the red haired man jumped down from the boat and spoke to Alex. She wasn't surprised at what he said because it wasn't nice weather and it looked as if it was going to get way worse, she took a guess that a bad storm was coming but even if they could have a long hunting trip, even if they weren't out for long they were still going hunting. She doubted that Alex was going to give up on hunting because of what the red haired man said and he didn't. She looked over at the boat that the man pointed to and then back at Alex. She began to walk towardsthe boat, she hadn't actually been on a boat in a while and she ignored the small part of her that was telling her it wasn't safe.

Alexander Lyons stepped up and onto the boat rolling his shoulders as he went. He had been going on boats a lot lately due to all the work that he had been doing away as well as there, yet he hadn't been on one solely to get to a small island for something rather spontaneous in all instances of the word in quite some time. As he started towards the steering room, Alex opened the door and stepped in. Thankfully he had become a rather practiced boat driver after they had moved the base to the islands. It would have been a hassle getting someone to drive it for him all the time. However, in that moment, Alex wondered something and looked towards Solly.
"Do you know how to drive a boat?" he finally asked with his hand frozen just over the main steering wheel. Alex was mildly surprised that he didn't know. He had never really paid attention to such things up until this odd point.

She follwed Alex onto the boat, she took a guess he knew how to drive a boat, that would make sense as he did have to travel a lot. Solly had hardly been on a boat, she didn't travel very often at all and she didn't know the first thing about driving one. She had never thought of it as important but thinking about it she might need to learn some time. "No," she told Alex with a shake of her head. "I don't travel too much so never had the chance to learn I guess." She scratched the back of her head where the wig seemed to itch most and wondered if she would be able to take the wig off while they were hunting because it was a distraction and she didn't want to have to stop to scratch her head every few minutes.

Alex blinked for a solid moment actually very surprised that Solly didn't know how to drive a boat despite the fact that a part of him had guessed at it. However, after a moment, he suddenly seemed to smile even more than before. "Well then today you'll learn," he suddenly grinned rather pleased with himself. "Come of here and take the wheel, and I'll go through what you need to know," he finished. He was actually very happy he could teach her something that she didn't know. In truth, Solly had spent a lot of time teaching him about things despite the fact that Alex rarely admitted this to anyone outside of Solly, of course.

Solly was surprised that he was offering to teach her, not that he wasn't the type of person to teach or be helpful but more because she hardly ever learned anything from him. Usually she was the teacher and he was the student but it looks like the roles were going to be switched around for now at least. She wasn't sure if she wanted to learn because she had enough trouble learning to drive a car, it had taken her way longer than it should have but no one knows that. She wasn't going to be mean though and say she didn't want to learn, it would be a good thing in the long run to know how to drive a boat and she had been told before that it is easier than driving a car. She walked over slowly and hesitantly but managed to keep a smile on her face.

Alex began to explain the mechanics of the boat first before explaining how to actually drive it. He broke it down into as simple steps as he could muster without going off on one of his puzzle or chess rants. Managing to explain it all rather fluidly, he then began to instruct her to sit down and actually try out what all he had stated. "Just try backing out of the port and then turning around." he grinned lightly.

Solly listened as Alex explained everything and found that she understood it to a point, he was explaining things very basically and she was happy about that because she hadn't learned the first thing about a boat before. When he got to telling her to sit down and try to back out and turn around she felt herself beginning to panic a bit. She shouldn't be even the tiniest bit scared because she wasn't scared of anything, she was the person who hadn't been scared of anything after her first time killing, she needed to just try this with out starting to panic. She backed up a bit and the movement gave her a bit of a scare and she stopped. She didn't dare look up at Alex because she felt so bad about being scared of doing this. She backed out of the port and turned around and after doing that she felt so relieved. She smiled but still didn't look up at Alex.

Alex grinned after Solly had successfully made it out of the port. "Very good," he stated aloud with an easy smile. Right then and there, something came over him. The dark brown haired man moved directly behind Solly and put his hands on her hands that remained on the steering mechanism. "Now just relax and...." Slowly, Alex began to steer the boat towards the island more or less trying to guide Solly into what to do next as the boat itself moved and started towards the island of choice.

As Alex put his hands on hers she blushed slightly but she felt herself relax and her fear died. That simple action was all it took for her to be more confident and happy where she was. This wasn't something she would expect a friend to do and that made her blush a bit more. She didn't complain or panic as he started to steer the boat in the direction of the island. He made it seem so easy but then it wasn't really that hard, it did seem much easier than driving a car and she had a feeling she would pick this up much quicker.

"See?" Alexander Lyons teased. "You're a pro at this just like everything else." A strange extra bit of coloration coated Alex's face as he said this, and for once, he was glad he was standing behind Solly so that it might limit her vision as to what was actually playing on his face. They continued to drive rather slowly towards the island, yet soon enough, they were coming towards it. As they hit the soft bank, Alex slowly moved away from his previous position.

"Yeah," Solly said quietly in reply to what he said. She wasn't a pro but she at least wasn't too bad, she was happy about that and she was really happy that she hadn't tried to get out of him teaching her to drive a boat. They were going slowly towards the island and it was a nice trip and she did frown a bit as he moved and his hands moved from their position on hers. She stood up and turned to face Alex, she smiled brightly and hoped that the blush haad completely faded from her cheeks, she didn't want him to see the colour that had been on her cheeks.

Alex smiled again and then seemed to notice a trace of something on Solly's face, yet he was unsure if it had just been his imagination. Shaking his head, he turned and then started to get off the boat and then onto the soft sand. He found himself sinking a bit and had to take several steps in order to avoid sinking into the sand, yet after a few more steps, Alex found the sand was more compacted.
