Just before it all collapsed there was a moment when Ren Saber debated whether he wanted to go back if at all. However, in another moment, he was unable to make the decision himself for the saber that formed itself as a gun in his pocket burned irritated and angry. In that moment, the will that he had worked up to simply remain hidden collapsed, and Ren sighed outwards. Great.... The blond haired man rubbed his temple and then looked out towards the crowd that he stood over. It was a three story shopping center with several different levels. Each floor could see the other only by looking over the glass that boxed the center of the complex. This was where Ren Saber stood or rather leaned.
Waves of nostalgia roamed across Ren for one reason or another, yet the very muscular man seemed to show nothing on his stern face other than a general blankness that allowed people to look at it and then pass on without a second thought. Why was he even there? Who knew. Not even Ren Saber himself could fully explain why he had stopped in Moscow of all places. It was noted that the Protettore had moved in this general direction during the figure years, but at least to Ren, it had not been confirmed that they were stationed nearby. Ren was headed far east, yet had stopped the trek for now at least. Meh.. oh well....damn it all...

Wish I'd never grown up. I wish I'd never grown up. *********************** Valerie was out doing her normal shopping and maybe also looking for a new dress. She was wondering if the christmas party in Meander would still be on, she remembered going there years ago and having so much fun. The memory brought tears to her eyes because she had to admit that was one of the first years that started this kind of insanity she had now. None of the other protettores knew that she was exactly sane but it can't be that bad if no one noticed it. She was sane enough to at least make decisions that weren't stupid and not to get every protettore killed, that was a good thing.
She looked through the dress shop, smiling at the beautiful white dress that reminded her of the dress she had worn to the christmas party. This shopping trip was going to bring her to tears and she really didn't want that. Crying in public was a real sign of weakness in her eyes and leaders couldn't be weak or their enemies would think of the whole group as weak. Being leader she stressed about every little thing she did, she wanted to set a good example to the younger protettores, make the ones older than her respect her and also she wanted to look strong and make the hunters think that it wouldn't be smart to mess with her. Stress was never going to leave her alone, she swore that one day she would end up killing herself from stress and that was something that could happen.
She walked out of the shop and walked up stairs to the top level. The shopping center was so much different to what she had gotten used to growing up in Meander. It had been such a small town that really you wouldn't have shopping centers any bigger than two levels and small levels as well. This was a three level shopping center was multiple areas on each level. There were so many shops and places to eat and stay entertained that you could stay there for a week and still not have seen every thing or at least that was what she guessed. She smiled and walked was a tall posture towards the food court. She was hungry and she had no idea what time it was. It didn't matter too much, even if it was three in the afternoon she would still eat.
She had to walk past the center of the shopping center with the glass that looked out to all the levels. She hated it because she always felt as if she would fall down to the bottom floor for some reason. She could climb up to the tops of the tallest trees and not be scared of falling but she was scared of that. She kept her eyes on the shops that were around and wasn't watching at all where she was going. She was hoping that she wouldn't run into anyone but knowing her luck... and she did run into someone. From the fact that she actually felt like she had hit a wall she took a quick guess it was going to be a muscular guy before she looked up. She really wished she hadn't looked up at all because the face she saw was the last face she had thought she would ever see again.
It was Ren. The evil hunter Ren that had killed one of her best friends, a best friend that had been practically her sister. She felt anger building up inside her but she didn't show it, she took in a deep breath so she could keep her expression calm and keep herself from screaming then she spoke. "Hello Ren."

Bah, Nostalgia that bitch. It had finally gotten to him in the extreme in a way he couldn't even describe, and the blond haired man was ready to smack it. It was as though he was already somewhere trapped in the past. However, he didn't know the time just yet and felt more or less like he was waiting for something to walk up. In all honesty, he had been expecting to be punched over the glass by Sven or something of the like or to have Alexander Lyons or Solomon just randomly walk up and start scolding him. Heh such childish thoughts. Ren dismissed them after a moment. No. He wasn't there yet and didn't think anyone else would be around unless they were assigned to this area.... Ice lived here... This sudden realization made the blond haired man wonder if Irony would help along with Nostalgia and make that overly powerful woman appear before him again. What was to be said? Nothing really... What was to be explained? Just the same as the previous. He wouldn't state what had happened in the five years that he disappeared from the view of the world because he simply refused to. Yes. That was good. Very good, indeed.
The call of his name seemed to snap Ren back from the rather deep pit of thought that he was digging himself into. Turning his head, he caught sight of a rather calm woman at least on the surface. The name hit his lips before the connection between face and mind was complete. "Hello Valerie Rayment," he stated aloud before looking off down the shopping way as though he hadn't seen her at all. Well this was certainly Irony's doing now wasn't it? Instead of bringing one of the hunters, it brought a Protettore instead. Not just any Protettore either but the one that had been encased in his past for his blundering as a Saber. Of course he had made a blunder of it. He was nineteen and entrusted a caustic job that he barely understood at the time of taking on the name Saber. His master had never gone into full depth of it, and he had never known the stress and mind warp that would come from taking the life of a human.
He had killed... yes killed... for a reason. It was his job as Saber to take down those that were traitorous in any occasion not just during the wars that had befallen the Sector in years past. However, the sight and look that was left as the dead died was something that still burned in the back of his mind. He had killed a Protettore directly as well... and had grown cold at killing humans for a while. But when the return of his emotions swiped the man who had tried to block it, he had snapped and awoken with the belief that he could make it right by protecting the one person that had meant the world to him through it all: his little sister. However, not even that was good enough was it? No... the nightmares that tormented him from killing humans whom he hunted for was something of a tragedy in itself, and Ren hated it. Despised it. Wanted to suffocate it. He wanted to burn it down to ashes like the vampires he had slayed for all that it was, yet he was stuck bound to it as one is bound to everything else in the cyclical spiral of time that ever being that is brought into the world is tied to.
"Sup?" he finally asked with a sharp breath inwards that could have just as well been a word or not a word depending on those that heard it. Yes it was an odd word to state to someone who hated you, yet Ren was expecting more and knew it was coming. He wasn't about to try and beg for forgiveness for something that was already long dead. No. He'd leave it be and let Valerie's anger live for all that it was worth in order to keep the stream of time flowing correctly. For he already knew what would happen out of sheer instinct. Out of sheer feeling and motion and knowledge of what he would do if someone had killed his friend... had killed Sven maybe... if eh could still call him a friend. Ren knew little of whether or not Sven still viewed him in that way, yet something internally hoped that they were still friends.... Why such a hope? Why after disappearing for five years did Ren believe that he had the right to cling to something that was probably not there anymore. Heh... one does love to fool himself every once in a while, yes? Let it be... let it be....

Wish I'd never grown up. I wish I'd never grown up. *********************** Valerie did a good job of keeping her anger hidden, for at least now. She knew that it wouldn't take much to make her explode and she didn't want to do that in such a busy shopping center where lots of people could see her and where lots of people could get hurt because of her. She couldn't get too angry with him here and she couldn't attempt to beat him up to a pile of flesh like she really wanted to do. She still wanted to get her pay back for what he did but then she wouldn't be able to kill anyone herself, she could only injure them really badly but she guessed that having a bad injury could be worse than death in some ways.
Ren spoke and he sounded different to how Val remembered him. Not that his voice had changed but more like he had changed personality wise and it was showing in the way he spoke. He had matured and that wasn't a surprise to her at all because it had been five years since she had last seen him and she had matured as well. Five years is a long time and she hadn't really thought about that but it had been so long since she had been a young girl in Meander, worrying about finishing her training and finding the perfect guy. Now she didn't even bother to think about guys, being the leader she had way too many other things to worry about.
She wondered to a point what Ren had been doing with his life for the past five years, last time she had seen him he had been young and very anger filled, only ever caring about his job. Though he had changed as in matured she still couldn't imagine him not caring about his job, he was probably doing something to do with his job and that was why he was in Moscow. She knew that being a hunter meant a lot of traveling like being a protettore could involve a lot of traveling sometimes. She had seen Brendon have to go off without much notice a few times.
She took a deep breath and her expression changed a bit at the though of Brendon and she hoped it hadn't been noticeable at all. She missed him yes, but she had to get over him completely. It was a good thing he was gone now anyway because he was a hunter and it was bad enough being a protettore and being with a hinter, but then the protettore leader being with a hunter would be disastrous. It was a great thing he had just disappeared and her heart needed to catch up and work that out so she didn't feel lonely every time she thought of his name.
"Sup?" was what Val thought she heard Ren say and she looked at him with a confused expression. Why would he say that? She couldn't understand it at all and she didn't know what to say in response. She stood there in silence for a few moments and wondered what she should say, she had a lot fo questions that she wanted answered and she could ask them while leading him out of the shops, then she could get her full pay back for what he had done to her almost-sister years ago. It may have been so logn ago but she still needed to get pay back and it shouldn't be too hard.
"Are you still in that sector thing or whatever it's called?" she asked and she wondered if he knew that she knew about the sector thing. She didn't know much about it except for the fact it was a special hunter group and that it could be way more dangerous than the normal hunters. She wanted to learn more about them... maybe this would be her chance.

Ren seemed to half smirk and looked off at the question. Well wasn't this quaint? She was going to start asking questions straight off and expect him to answer them. Well... two could easily play at this game. "Aren't you head of the Protettore now?" he questioned back looking down now with his arms still crossed. Yes he'd heard it. What respectable hunter hadn't? The previous leader had stepped down for one reason or another, and now one of the youngest leader in the history of the Protettore was standing before him.
The blond haired man took the index finger of his left hand and then ran it along the scars on his right before stopping at a S12 tattoo and then flipping his wrist outwards towards Valerie. "Not easy to get out of seeing as the only way out is death," he answered back to her previous question before reforming his crossed arms again.
The blond haired man broke off from speaking anymore on that subject until Valerie stated something back. If she'd take up the exchange of talk, then he would too, but if she stopped right then and there, he would stop. The sounds of those moving in the mall could be heard, and Ren's eye caught sight of three people walking not far off completely oblivious to what was going on. Innocent humans...simple humans... they didn't even know the tension that was forming just under their noses.

Wish I'd never grown up. I wish I'd never grown up. *********************** Valerie should have expected that Ren would ask her something, it was what she would have done, answering questions with other question was usually how you avoided answering the fist question that was asked. She would answer his question straight off though because she didn't need to hide that and everyone knew anyway, she wanted people to know she was the protettores leader. She also liked to use it as a way to make people think she never acted like a child and she had to admit she did some times, no one knew that and she was going to keep it that way.
"Yeah, I'm the protettore leader but you already knew that for sure, everyone knows." she crossed her arms and sighed for no particular reason. It seemed the more that she got stressed, the more she sighed and sometimes she sighed when there was no reason to, that was one of the bad effects of stress on her and it wasn't like it was dangerous but it was very annoying. Stress was the thing that would kill her most likely, she wouldn't be killed by a hunter or by a car accident like her parents, she would over stress herself. She was trying to find ways to make herself less stressed but it wasn't working well and she was just hoping she was have a breakdown.
As Ren showed Val a tattoo she was surprised. It said S12 and she took a guess that the sector thing might be called Sector 12, that actually seemed correct because the name seemed familiar. She must have heard it said before by either one of the few protettores that knew of the hunter group or even by a hunter, she did sometimes just spy on hunters, or she used to do that before she had been given the top job of the protettores. She hadn't known that the hunter group had had tattoos, that didn't seem normal.
She was shocked at what he had said, he was stuck in the hunters group until death? That was tough, at least if Val couldn't be in the protettores any longer she could choose to live a normal life though she would never survive like that because of how much she loved being a protettore but she had the choice. She felt sorry for him, she would hate being stuck in something like that. She wasn't exactly sure what to say, that had shocked her enough that the question she had planned to ask next she couldn't get out. "I have a tattoo too but mine doesn't involve a death threat."
She regretted saying it the second the words left her mouth because she really shouldn't say anything like that or make any lame jokes around her enemy. She still needed to improve on thinking of her words before saying them. She wondered what he would think of what she just said, maybe he wouldn't think anything of it, maybe he'd think of it as a young girl making a joke or something. She sighed again.

"Threat implies that there's a possibility of it not being fulfilled," Ren answered back. "It's not a threat just a promise." Ren shrugged his shoulders but didn't uncross his arms. He had known very well that it was a promise when he had taken up the job, and there was nothing new about it. He couldn't run away. He'd stayed away for five years, and in the end he was drawn to it again. "Don't pity me like you understand anything," he ordered irritated with the look that he was receiving in turn. It was him who had made the decision, and he would stay by it. Hell if he wouldn't. He wanted this. In the back of his mind, Ren was glad to be going home. Glad to see Sojiro and Sven again. Glad to get back to work actually doing something. Yes. He was. Indeed. Yes.

Wish I'd never grown up. I wish I'd never grown up. *********************** Valerie had ment what she had said as more of a joke but then it seemed like Ren hadn't taken it as a joke. He had just said that it wasn't a threat but it was a promise and it seemed to send a shiver down her spine. So if he decided he wanted to not be a hunter he would be punished with death for that decision, she couldn't understand how he could live knowing that but then he probably loved his job, she knew he truely hated the supernatural creatures but she couldn't agree with what the hunters did at all. She had seen one species be completely wiped out and thinking of that made her annoyed again and made her feel like hurting the damn hunter in front of her.
"Don't worry, I wouldn't want to pity someone like you." she spat out and glared at the young hunter in front of her, any signs of her feeling sorry for him disappeared and anger covering her face and showing just how unstable she was and how quickly her emotions could change, it only took a second for her to go from sad to angry then to happy or excited, she had no proper control of her emotions like a normal person had and she was going to hurt someone she shouldn't hurt one day because of that, it was the reason she loved the idea of being stuck in an office a lot of the time by herself doing the boring stuff that no one else wnated to do, even Rachel had complained about it a lot.
She stayed silent for a few moments and thought about what her next words would be and the best way she could get information about the hunter group he was in, she needed to know what they were and what power they had so that she didn't have an attack from them and be completely shocked by the weapons or training they had. "Why is there Sector 12, like how is it different to the normal hunters... do you get extra money or something?" she asked the question but she didn't believe she would get much of an answer, she hoped she would get some answer that she might get a little info from at least.
Her arms were sore and she uncrossed them and let them hang down by her sides. She looked around at the shops surrounding them while she waited for an answer, a scowl was on her face and as she looked at a couple of kids they ran off. She never meant to scare anyone but she couldn't get herself to smile or at least have an expression that made her seem not scary. She hated the fact that so many people were around because if no normal humans were around she could beat the crap out of the person in front of her, it was just bad luck that they had ran into each other at a shopping center, and not just a normal one but hte largest one in the city.

"Don't worry, I wouldn't want to pity someone like you." It was the retort in itself that made Ren smirk when Valerie answered back with that statement. However, as she went on, Ren's face fell again somber."Why is there Sector 12, like how is it different to the normal hunters... do you get extra money or something?" Well wasn't that the question of the year. Ren resisted the urge to roll his eyes at it and found himself instead staring at one of the glass shops with a manican looking out in a rather odd pose that models reflected. He was silent for a few more seconds.
"Do I look rich to you?" was the first retort that came out of him. "The Sector doesn't get paid any better than those out of it. Even Solly and his closeness with Alex." Ren rolled his eyes. Gay higher-ups... was the thing that came to mind, and in truth, it was what he believed of them. From the way that Solly was always around Alex, and Alex showed no apparent eye towards women...meh....Realizing that he had stated Solomon's nick-name more or less, Ren put it off in the back of his mind. They all had names given to them to hide their identities, so it didn't matter if Valerie knew it or not. "The Protettroe have nothing like the Sector, so there ain't any comparative between the two," Ren finished rolling his eyes a bit despite the fact that he had tried not to previously. "So who is your second in command?" Ren asked aloud.

Wish I'd never grown up. I wish I'd never grown up. *********************** Valerie actually looked at the clothes he was wearing and they didn't look expensive at all, nothing the he with him looked expensive, the best thing she had actually seen that was his was his weapons but except for those he looked almost poor. So the people in the hunter group didn't get paid extra at all and she couldn't understand what was so special about them. She wanted to know how all the hunters worked and how the sector was run and why there was the sector. The one thing she had noticed was a couple of the hunters surnames, she had been getting info from a couple of the protettores that liked to spy on hunters and they had said that there were hunters with surnames that were weapon names.
She couldn't remember Ren's last name, she actually wasn't even sure if she had ever known it but right now she couldn't work it out so she couldn't work out if he was one of the hunters with the weapon surnames and maybe that could be something to do with the sector. She moved her thoughts back to what he was saying because thinking about surnames wasn't going to be any help and it was a waste of time at this stage. She tuned back into what he was saying just in time to hear him ask who her second in command is.
That question caught her off guard. She didn't have a second in command and she hadn't bothered even thinking of picking one in the time she had been the protettore leader. She knew Rachel'd had a second in command, it had been Michael and that had been a smart idea because they worked so well together and they were together. The idea of having a couple running the protettore, one leader and one being the beta was a smart one but then it was one that wouldn't work for Val because she doubted she would ever find someone ever again, she had lost the guy she had loved and she didn't think it would be possble for her to love someone else, she was messed up and she doubted she would ever get better.
She stayed silent and didn't answer Ren's question quickly because she felt as if admitting to not having a second in command was like telling her enemy one of her worst weaknesses. She wanted to seem as if she was a strong leader and like the hunters didn't have way of getting to her using ehr weaknesses. Of course she was really weak, she wasn't strong and she had so many weaknesses that an idiot would be able to break her but if she kept up a strong appearance then maybe the hunters would be scared to attack her, she hoped her plan would work in the long run. "Like I'd tell you who it is," she told him, crossing her arms again. She then wondered who Solly was, with what Ren had said it sounded like he was Alexander's second in command. "Who's Solly?" she asked.

When the answer about the second came back to him, Ren scowled but then smirked. If she didn't tell straight out when they were being civil, it either meant she had something to hide about her second in command or she didn't have one. The latter of the two seemed to be the more appropriate in this instance, it seemed, and it made Ren smirk. Those with just one lower rank than a full on leader were just as important as those the leader themselves given what they do, and this was possibly the only reason Ren Saber respected Solomon Lance.
When the question as to who Solly was came about from Valerie instead of the answer as to who her second in command was, Ren smirked even more. "The head of Sector 12 and the second in command of Alexander Lyons," he stated aloud resisting the urge to laugh out the words. They were meant to be intimidating, and they were, in fact.
Above all those in the Sector, Solly was the most dangerous not because of his battle skill but because of the fact that he led. There was a rumor that went around the Sector and still floated around newbies that Solomon Lance was the one who could cause a weapon to kill its master, and to date, none have been able to verify this or negate it. This fear of instant death made him powerful on all levels and drew those in the sector towards him to do his biding as directly by Alex. In truth, Ren feared Solomon Lance more than he feared Alexander Lyons.
It was then that an interesting thought hit Ren. Being that he was Saber of Sector 12, he would be the one to kill Solomon Lance if the leader ever betrayed the hunters. Despite the fact that this was highly unlikely under any circumstance, it still left a strange mark in the back of Ren's mind. He was not part of the class in Sector 12.... Which made him both free and chained by his own single choice.

Wish I'd never grown up. I wish I'd never grown up. *********************** Valerie should have known that the hunter sector would have a leader, the thing was though, she had never heard the name before, never. She had talked to Rachel and a few of the more experienced protettores about the high ranking hunters they knew of and none of them had ever mentioned a Solomon Lance. She was really curious to know what he looked like and more about him but she kept her mouth shut and forgot about the questions, there were probably so many better questions she could ask which could get her better information.
Just stopping to think about this moment, she wasn't angry in the slightest bit at this exact time which almost surprised her, she didn't think she could be calm around the hunter that had killed one of her best friends but here she stood in conversation with him, not like it was the most friendly conversation but she wasn't shouting, she was screaming and she wasn't trying to hurt him at all. She almost proud of herself that she could do this because she didn't want to draw any unwanted attention from the locals and tourists by doing something like stabbing Ren in the middle of the shopping center or even just punching him a few times.
Oh man, she was an idiot, at that thought of hurting him she smiled and that anger seemed to find its way out of its quiet spot and building up in her. "It's a bit loud and crowded in here, how about we talk outside?" she asked the question while tryign hide the sneaky smile that was finding its way to her lips. If they were alone she would get her chance to really hurt Ren and finally make him pay for what he did, she couldn't just think about getting information from him now, she needed to get her payback.

In truth, Ren had expected more questions. A part of him would have been proud to instill some extra fear into a Protettore not to mention the head of the Protettore. If fear could keep them from acting, then Ren liked it. However, when Valerie went to a different question entirely, Ren found himself quiet for a moment. The suggestion to go outside was obvious in nature, and he could only laugh because of it.
"So we have a chance to fight it out like were supposed to?" he asked forcing a laugh from himself despite the fact that his own mind was rather clear cut on what he thought of that on the moment. Indeed, despite his joking, that was what Ren knew was coming. Protettore and Hunters were meant to fight were they not?
No.. They were both human groups. They should both know how to preserve the human race. Protettore were not even meant to exist. They were nothing but creatures that were getting in the way of a bigger cause. Yes. This was Ren Saber's mind set at this. There were only two options in the world protect the humans or protect the beasts, and Ren was siding with the humans.
After another moment, Ren looked away entirely and found himself staring down the aisle way. There were quite a lot of people the mall. After a moment, he looked forwards again and finally smirked. "Fine," he answered before starting to walk down the mall aisle and towards the stairs and then the exit.
