Alexander Lyons stared at his paper so intently that his forehead had scrunched up and was making thick shadows across his visage. He had been doing several doses of paperwork that included reading several demands from somewhat segmented groups of hunters. All in all, it was normal work, and yet Alex found himself somewhat more stressed than normal. Shaking his head, he finally gave up for a moment and just leaned back in his chair. Propping his feet on the table and bringing his hands to his face, Alex breathed outwards trying to relax.
There was a moment of complete silence in the room before the brown hared man moved his feet once more, took his hands away from his face, and picked up yet another paper. Examining the text, he put the paper to the side and rather than do any more, he opened his desk and took out a small folded chess set. Taking out the set carefully and beginning to place the pieces as if he were really starting up a game, Alex slowly felt himself start to calm down. Suddenly, the sound of knocking hit the leader of the hunter's ears causing his head to move up.
"Come in," Alex said returning his gaze to the chess pieces as the familiar presence of Solomon Lance came inwards.

Solomon scratched her head, wishing she didn't have to wear the damn wig. The clothes she was used to, mens clothing was actually quite comfortablebut she would never get used to the wig. She walked toward Alex's office, she was sick of work and wanted to talk to a friend. A friend, that's all she would be with Alex but she wanted to be more than friends. She couldn't because of her job though, to nearly every hunter she was a guy, it was the best way to protect herself. She sighed and knocked on the door to Alex's office. Solly walked in and smiled as she saw a chess board in front of Alex. "Hi," she said. She closed the door so it would be safe for her to take the wig off.

Looking up after another moment, Alex found himself smiling as Solly came in. Her presence had somewhat of a calming affect on him, and he was thankful to have it at the moment. As Solomon closed the door behind herself, Alex leaned upwards and then stepped to the side as he continued to set up the chess board. "How are you, Solly?" he asked dryly as one does when trying to repress the urge to appear stressed.

Solly watched as Alex set up the chess board, it was a normal sight for her. "Bored of anything that is even slightly like work," she answered while she took off the wig. She smiled as felt her hair fall down over her shoulders and down against her back. She wondered why Alex's voice had not sounded normal. Maybe he was a little stressed or something. Solly was stressed often because of her job. "How are you?" she asked him. She put the wig in the small backpack she always carries around with her.

"Somewhat stressed," Alex answered back as he finished setting up the chess board. "Apparently a bit of controversy around China is driving Luten 'Xu' Shuriken up the wall, and I'm having to fix it." A half laugh escaped Alex as he said this. It was more of a laugh caused out of stress than anything else, and in half a second, it was gone completely. "Do you want to play?" Alex asked gesturing to the chess board.

Solly nodded when Alex said he was stressed, she knew how he felt. She looked down at the completely set up chess board, nodding when Alex asked if she wanted to play. "Sure, I'll play." she said with a smile. She was really happy just spending time with Alex. She really liked Alex and at times she wondered what it would be like to give up being the Sector 12 Lance and living with Alex. Of course she couldn't do that no matter how much she wanted to.

As Solly sat down across from him, Alex picked up a pawn and moved it once on the board. "At least it's quiet in here," Alex commented a loud as he retracted his arm and waited for Solly to make her move on the board. "Recently, it seems like more and more things have been coming up. I'm tired," Alex sighed more or less talking to himself. Resting his elbow on one knee and his head on his hand. His eyes shifted over Solly carefully and meticulously. He had studied her visage many times before, and yet each time he looked at her, Alex found something else in Solomon. "But in the end it is for the good of all...." The good of all.... Alex thought over his own words and took them apart in his own mind.

Solly nodded, it was nice and quiet in here. She moved a pawn once then rested her hand on her lap. She had learned how to play chess from Alex and she found it fun, she'd rather play chess then do some of the work she had to do anyday though a lot of people would say the opposite. "Yeah, so many things happening." Solly agreed. She looked into Alex's eyes and couldn't look away at first. When she did look away she hoped that Alex hadn't noticed. Shestopped herself from blushing and looked down at the chess board.

"Hopefully we can stay strong though," Alex answered back looking quietly at Solly and then down at the chess board as his mind worked a few traps. His hand raised, and the leader of the hunters moved yet another pawn forwards. "And when the protettore finally give up... I'll have a great party for everyone." Alex couldn't help but smile a bit to himself.
In truth, he knew very well that it was very hard to defeat the protettore in any way shape fashion or form, and yet it was nice to dream. "And then we won't really need a full organization anymore. We'll all just be working together to hunt down those beasts. But what then hah..." he laughed more to himself than to anyone else. "I'll just be a regular hunter, and you'll be a regular huntress." The last word that came from Alex's mouth had escaped before he could retract it, and realizing this, he fell somewhat into silence. I need to stop.... Alex thought to himself slowly becoming somber again. It isn't right for me to talk that way.

Solly smiled, knowing that we could stay strong, thats why we had survived so long, hunters are strong. She listened as Alex said that they'd have a great party when the protettore gave up, that would be the day, the greatest day for the hunters when they didn't have to worry about enemies but just worry about the actual hunting. The would be the day... she sighed and moved another pawn, she was enjoying talking to Alex even though what he was saying would be near impossible, beating the protettores, making them give up.
What Alex said next made Solly sigh sadly, it was a dream that she really wished could be true, that she could just be a regular huntress, everyone would know she was a girl and it would be safe to be with Alex. She shook her head and sighed again, she knew that couldn't happen, she knew it wouldn't ever happen and she knew she shouldn't even be thinking about it. "How about we change the subject?" she suggested, trying to think of something to say. "Um... er..."

Finding that Solly had found the conversation topic somewhat distasteful, Alex began to see why and simply nodded. "How about we talk about..." he stopped unsure of what to actually talk about. They usually talked about work.. always about work... yet.. it wasn't what he wanted to talk about that day. There was something in him that resisted this usual tenancy. Staring at the chessboard a minute, Alex raised the knight and moved it instead of another pawn.
"How about we talk about...." he still couldn't find a relative topic in which to transition to. A strange mild form of irritation to its wing on this as the calm Hunter Leader tried to find something else to talk about. "What about ..." he turned his head to one side and stared at the book on his desk. However, it was a book about the history of hunting, and Alex wasn't in the mood to bring that up either. Rolling his eyes, the dark haired man finally gave up and forced a laugh. "We really don't talk about much now do we?" he joked lightly.
However, in that moment, Alex knew what he wanted to talk about. "Hm.... how about the Christmas Party?" he finally settled on. Yes the Christmas Party stationed by none other than Ice Claymore. All of the hunters had showed up, including Solly... but in a dress... She had been in a dress...hiding under her real name of Sally, and Alex had managed to set his eyes on her for a few hours on that night.
"Did you see the mess that Saber and Pistol managed to get themselves into?" he joked again referring to the drunken mobbing that Ren and Sven had started during the later hours of the party. In the end both men had to be dragged out of the party and formally 'quarantined' from everyone else until they were sober. "I still can't believe they managed to drink themselves like that," he laughed a bit worriedly for a minute before staring down at the chessboard. "Then again, I wasn't sober either," he smirked a bit.
In truth, this was extremely overstated. Alex rarely drank at all and preferred to be the sober one of the group among the drunks so that he didn't accidentally give away information. However, he pretended to be drunk and acted as though he was drinking in order to keep the situation at least a fraction lighter than it normally was. He didn't want to 'ruin the party' by averting alcohol like the plague. Also in other situations being the sober one was a great benefit due to those that he could watch over when they were drink. Information leaked this way and that among bar houses and the things which had allowed Alex to find several key locations of the protettore and such and such.

Solly laughed as Alex even had trouble thinking of a different subject. It was true that thye had never really talked about anything but work and that was a sad thing, Solly did wish that they had a better relationship, that they could have subjects to talk about that weren't related to work or hunting in general. She saw that he looked down at the history of hunting book and prayed he wouldn't make that the subject, he didn't and she was happy about that. She laughed when he brought up the subject of the Christmas party.
That had been fun, she'd been able to wear a dress, act like a girl for one night, she had been Sally and it had been such a fun night for her. It was about the only time of year she gotto dress up, wear makeup, do her hair nicely, wear a pretty dress and act completely like a girl. She had even been flirting with Alex, that was one thing that she really enjoyed. She smiled at the memory and then laughed at what Alex said. "That was funny, never seen someone dragged out of the Christmas party before, it was pretty sad though," she paused, "I wondered if they'd had something bothering them and that's why they'd been drinking?"
It was easy to workout that being a hunter was stressful even to those in the lower ranks, this who were just normal hunters and it worried Solly at times, she wished she could somehow make it less stressful for all the sector 12 members though she really didn't know how she she just had to watch as some got hurt, others ended up beng depressed, others drank themselves silly to forget about their jobs. She moved a bishop but she wasn't really paying too much attention to the chess game.

Alex smiled back for a minute, but as Solly began talking about why someone would actually drink, his face somewhat fell a fraction. "Probably just trying to enjoy themselves too much... trying to get away from the drama of the Protettore..." the dark haired man sighed outwards suddenly feel the weight of the entire organization come crashing down on his head at once. It happened a lot, Alex would come to realize that there was so much to do, and so little time to simply exist. However, he shoved this thought to the back of his mind. He wasn't there to pick at such things. He was there to talk and have fun with Solly for a bit.
Looking as Solly moved a bishop, Alex put a hand on his chin and rested his elbow on his knee. Suddenly a wry smirk appeared on his face. "I got to enjoy myself too much at the party as well... especially dancing with a certain someone," he said not stating outright. Yet he had directed it at Solly obviously enough. He picked up his knight once more but stopped and released the piece again before looking back at the board. "I learned a lot of things that night. For one I noticed that Ice's little apprentice is most clingy," Alex shook his head a bit remembering the fact that Lupe had all but tackled him to the ground during the beginning of the party. "But I guess all children are that way," he mused a bit picking up a different piece and finally deciding to move his queen. For a moment, Alex was completely silent.
It was a rare topic to be discussed between any of Sector 12 or Alex Lyons for that matter. However, the discussion on apprentices that Alexander Lyons had just opened up had left for a can of worms. After a moment, Alex wondered again whether Solly would... no. He stopped himself from thinking any more on the subject and looked back at the board.

Solly nodded, looking up at Alex, her eyes becoming almost glued to his face. She had already memorized it, she loved it but she needed to get it in her head that she was a guy to everyone, she couldn't be found staring at Alex when others were around or the other hunters might get suspicious. No one else was around though, so she could re-memorize his face. She blushed at what he said next, it was obvious he was talking about her. "Yeah, I enjoyed dancing with this one guy..." she smiled.
Solly laughed, she had seen Alex being welcomed by Lupe, it had been cute but she had been happy Lupe hadn't done that to her. The subject of children brought a frown to her face. She wanted children, she wanted a family, she was never going to get that chance though. She sighed and looked down at the chess board. She moved a knight, just wanting to get that thought out of her head, the fact that she would never be able to have a family. She usually tried not to think about things like that. "What else did you learn at the party?" she asked, her voice showing that she she wasn't happy.

"I learned that Lloyd is dating Alicia or something of the matter," Alex sighed outwards. "Also that Ren apparently doesn't like sour cakes, and apparently Luten Xu has a fetish for chocolate rice. That Sven will smoke anywhere even indoors, and that Ice when drunk is something to fear beyond the recourse of measure, and that Enya can beat everyone and their mother at guitar hero." A sudden laugh broke from Alexander Lyons, and he couldn't understand exactly why. It was strange, yet he felt almost normal at that moment. It was obscure to say, but Alex had found he enjoyed being around the Sector. They were people with lives... interesting lives but still lives none the less. After the laugh left him, Alex looked down at the chess board again.
Bringing his eyes back up, the dark haired man stared into the face of the woman before him. She was beautiful... and he knew it... he knew how each expression was its own. How... one glance from her made him wish to spend an hour just staring back at her. How much he wanted to keep her out of harms way despite how much of an obscurity it would be. He loved it when she smiled.. even when it was a fake smile... He loved when her face contorted in thought and then bushed out into a light laughter. He loved how much she could change with the weather in thought... how powerful she was when she acted as a man in front of all those that would tear her down as a woman..How much he wanted to help her... how much he was willing to do... How far he was willing to go to make her his....
"I also learned that.... a certain someone..." Alex resisted the urge to smile as he stared down at the board. "Likes jewelry...." Looking up again, Alex stared at Solly for a moment. She was the closest one to him, and he knew this. She had grown up being trained to lead the Sector while he had grown up to lead the Hunters as a whole...And because of this, they both knew each other well.. "Now how about this," Alex said picking up a rook and setting it a few spaces. "If you beat me, Solomon Lance... you'll see I have a little.. prize.... if you will..." A strange smirk moved on Alex's face as he said this. "What do you think?"
