The chilly wind swept through the wooded lands twisting through the trees moving about wisps of snow here and there. Every few seconds, the breath of life would whistle when passing something that tried to stop its fluid motion through the air. However, aside from this soft noise, the forest was virtually dead. The large expanse of trees was scarce of life, the animals that would normally be around were off far away or dormant for the winter. Some would have thought it was a gorgeous scene in its own right. The sight of time changing the season's gown gave a sense of awe that nothing else could to many.
However, to a certain hunter, it was nothing but a droll of annoying. Thankfully it wasn't annoying or cold enough to draw Jace indoors despite the ever present notion that he could easily give up hunting for a day to retreat into a place much more warm. No, it was prime hunting time at the moment right before the sun went down. It would be the time that hidden mythical creatures felt comfortable and would start to roam about. They would be unguarded and unready for an attack or so Jace reasoned out. It was perfect.
The small crunch of snow underfoot was enough to put Jace on edge. If anything in the area happened to hear his steps, he could easily be detected, and that was what he feared the most. He liked having the element of surprise and was stronger when he did have that. When forced to fight without it or when he himself was taken by surprise was much harder, and he didn't want to go that route if he could avoid it. However, there was no stopping the snow and the crunch save for stopping his trek completely. This could lead to a stalemate which Jace didn't particularly like. Sure he could bet on a vampire or werewolf coming into the area, but it was never a solid bet as it was if he covered more ground. No, he would keep walking and be as careful as he could.
Ugh it's cold... Jace mentally complained softly to himself. He would never say such complaints out loud least someone judge him for it. However, when he thought about it that way, he was virtually alone now wasn't he? But he needed to keep his lips sealed. He was hunting, yes...

She was outside, in the forest, not stuck inside on a work shift like she had been last night. She closed her eyes and smiled as she moved slowly through the forest, keeping a calm stroll. She wasn't really heading in any kind of direction right now, just further into the forest, but she was thinking about going to meet the pack before she shifted. She shrugged to herself as she opened her eyes again, she would see the others once she was a wolf, she didn't need to worry about seeing them before. It was more old habits from a pack where everyone lived in the forest, there wasn't the whole thing about having to find each other on a full moon when you lived in the same small area. Here it was different but she wasn't used to it, even if she had been here for a while now.
She kept her eyes mostly on the ground, watching for small animals, making sure she didn't trip over. She usually trusted her balance but right now, being so close to shifting, she didn't. She used her hearing and smell to watch out for any others around. Maybe she'd end up running into someone else in the pack anyway, she couldn't be the only one who went into the depths of the forest before she let her body shift. She didn't like the idea of getting caught by locals, she hated the idea. She may really love humans but not that much. She laughed to herself at the thought of someone catching her shifting, just the fact that she had to strip down to avoid buying new clothes every full moon.
Starting to let her guard down, she felt the unbearable itch of her skin fade slightly as fur started to grow, making her start to look like some kind of big foot monster. As she felt her nails growing out and her fingers curling, she knew she'd have to stop walking. Once she'd shifted, she shook out her fur and smiled, to the best she could. This was what she loved, the feeling of her thick winter coat, the feeling of the snow under her paws, She'd loved being a wolf, since her first shift when she'd been hardly eight years old. It was almost a feeling of freedom, especially when she just ran, there was no better feeling she could think of, no human invention, no place she'd been to through her traveling. That's exactly what she did, she ran.
Her legs moved with hardly a thought. It was so natural to run as a wolf, easier than as a human and less tiring. It brought the urge to hunt though, as if just the action of running sent a message to her brain saying "time to hunt!" She didn't mind it, she actually loved to hunt, sneaking around and using her senses to track down prey, the feeling of the chase, the meal she got once she'd caught whatever animal it was she had killed. There had been a big change when she'd moved here though, all the animals being different, the meat tasting different but she got used to it quickly, wolves adapted well and that was a trait a werewolves had, more as a wolf though than in their human form.
Catching the scent of a deer, her stride slowed down to a slow walk. Her paws hit the ground softly, her breathing slow as if the sound of it might scare away her prey. It wasn't normal to hunt herself, not something this large and she knew that. She knew that she should wait, go look for her pack and they would go hunting together but the temptation was too much, the scent of the deer too strong. She had it in sight, looking around as if it were lost. It almost looked scared, and cold. It had reason to be both. Kiana broke out into a sprint, snow crunching under her paws. The deer ran and she followed it. It didn't take long for her to give up though, slowly down and eventually stopping to watch the deer almost bounce away.
A waste of energy she thought as the buzz dulled down, but even if she was a little less energetic than she had been, it had still been worth it. Now she needed to see if anyone else was around. It wasn't fully dark, she couldn't see the moon from where she was but it had never stopped her from shifting before, the little fact of it not exactly being counted as night yet, technically more late evening. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

Crisp circles move from side to side taking in the ice and sno waiting for a single sign of movement to cue an attack. There had to be something in these woods. Jace willed it to be true. There just had to be. Another fifteen minutes passed with nothing, and though he would not admit it, the cautious hunter was beginning to feel discouraged. He knew well enough that hunting was an art more than anything. It required skills and patience to perfect. However, he was still a young man when it came down to it, and waiting for things had never been Jace's forte. He wanted and craved some sort of action. He wanted the adrenaline rush that came with coming upon a kill. It flourished in his veins and drew a small smirk to his features just thinking about it. He could do this. He would just continue to psych himself up and be good and ready to go
The sudden rush and crunch of ice caused underfoot instantly caused snapped Jace's head to one side, and his eyes focused instantly on the wolf chasing after a deer who was doing its best to get away. Though he couldn't tell whether or not the wolf in question was a werewolf or not at the moment, Jace didn't care at the moment. It was some action that he would never admit to craving, and almost instantly he took off running after the pair as well. However, he wasn't going to throw himself out in the line of a wolf and her possible kill. He would keep behind and keep concealed that was for sure! In the back of his mind, Jace was already planning what he would do if a second wolf showed up. This one could easily be leading the deer into an ambush, and if that was the case, he could easily be working himself into the ambush as well. He had to be careful. Those words kept repeating in the back of Jace's mind even as he was also in hot pursuit.
When the deer clearly tore away from the pursuers and managed to get away, Jace slowed down and quickly darted behind the trees. He could feel his heart beating against his rib cage, and Jace pressed his back firmly into the tree as if this would somehow silence the pounding. After a few seconds, he slowly turned around the tree to stare at the wolf not too far off now. He could tell she was panting, and as his eyes darted around, he found no one else in the vicinity. Good. Slowly but surely, he pulled his weapon of choice from his shoulder.
A bow and arrow may have seemed too classic for the times, and yet bow hunting was one of the few things Jace would accept when it came down to it. There was the thrill that came with pulling back a string, and the adrenaline build up of waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Sure guns were useful in that sense as well, yet they also came with recoil at times and seemed to be less accurate especially in off terrain. Plus there would always be the romance of setting a bow and arrow and slaying a beast or so Jace thought anyways. Maybe he was impractical, but he didn't quite care.
Drawling the bow back with the arrow already knocked, Jace stared silently keeping his eye on the wolf before suddenly releasing the arrow aimed strictly at the fine patch of hair between her shoulders. It led to the spinal chord and could easily be an instant kill if not paralysis baring it actually hit. A breath was drawn inwards, and the arrow was released and sent flying.

She wasn't listening for danger, she was listening for her pack and for other prey. She wouldn't mind something small to catch, even if her wolf side seemed to be against small prey. She had the control in the end, she could fight the wolf instincts if she wanted. She got her breathing under control, letting cold air blow into her nostrals. She caught an unfamiliar scent. She let out a small growl, the sound rumbling through the air and ending suddenly as she folded her ears back against her head and searched the area for a sign of what the scent was. She wasn't scared, just cautious, she really didn't trust her knowledge of the area and she could have walked into the wrong part of the forest, she could have walked into a vampire's hunting ground and she wouldn't have any idea.
Scanning the area around her, all she could see was trees and snow, trees and snow. There didn't seem to be anything else around but those two things now that the deer had run away. She thought she saw something else, like a curved stick next to one tree but she ignored it and put it as a part of the paranoia she could gain around a full moon. It took her having been shifted for over an hour until the paranoia was gone completely and even then her wolf hearing, her wolf smell, it could cause her to be that little bit paranoid the whole time she was a wolf. It was a freeing feeling to be a wolf but it was annoying in a way sometimes just as much. Once she had fully scanned the area, seen that there was no one about to attack, she calmed down a bit, her ears moving from being flat against her head, a small click as she stretched her jaw.
Click. Her jaw. Swoosh. Must have been a small breeze. Whistle. She moved then, taking two large steps, more like fast leaps, so she could stand with her tail against the rough bark of a tree. She saw an arrow fly through the air, past where she had been standing and land with a small crunch in the snow. This time the growl was loud and long, causing her fur to stand up like she had goosebumps and her body to almost shake with the low pitched sound. She scanned the path the arrow had taken and her eyes landed on a blonde haired man. She didn't stop growling, her fur didn't stop the cold burn as she sunk down into the snow and waited for the man to make another move. Her instincts told her to kill, she didn't want to unless she had to.
The bow the man was holding and the fact that it had obviously been aimed at her gave an almost dead giveaway at what he was. Kiana couldn't help the rush of fear that flowed through her at the thought of the word "Hunter." Her ears moved more towards flattening against her skull, she didn't want them too though, she always felt like it would effect her hearing, make it easier for her to miss a sound. The images of Selyna and her pack of Hunters flashed through her mind. The odd scent of sweat, new clothes and the artificial lavender of her perfume. The dark clothing that made them all impossible to see at night. The fact that this guy was the same thing made her want to jump at his throat. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

Jace's entire body went on edge as the flying shaft went gushing past the target that had moved unexpectedly, and all too quickly, he found himself backing into the shadow of the tree as much as possible pressing his shoulder blades into the hard wood and willing the tree not to move despite his pressure on it. Movement could easily catch the wolf's attention that much more than the trajectory of his arrow could, and he didn't want to suffer the repressions of his miss. Stay calm stay calm... Jace mentally willed himself doing his best to keep the adrenaline that had jumped into his system from overtaking the logic that was telling him to do things. If he retracted or attacked too quickly there could be worse repercussions than a miss, and he knew that.
Eyes shut, and Jace could hear the growling that was slowly becoming a large roar as it vibrated off the snow and amplified off the trees. It'd seen him or heard him or smelled him. He didn't know which, and it ddin't really matter anyways. He had to do something before she attacked, and damn it all he had forgotten to pack even a blade to defend himself from short range attacks. He had been overly confident in his long-range tactics for that, and it was a blunder on his part. Mentally swearing at himself, he decided he would fix that later. Breathing in as quickly as he could, Jace found himself shifting a hand backwards and pulling out yet another arrow before lowering it down to the arc of the bow. If he could keep the wolf at a distance from him, he'd have a better chance.
Twisting around the tree again with a sharp motion, Jace gave himself three seconds before aiming and firing the arrow this time aimed at the wolf's flank. It was less lethal but would probably impair motion of it did hit. A quiet hiss of uncertainty escaped past Jace's teeth, and after a moment, he found himself fishing out yet another arrow spending less aim time and letting lose yet again. The adrenaline was now prevalent in Jace's system, and though he knew it would affect his system in various ways, he was now considering the negative response. He had to keep calm. He would lose his mind easily if he didn't.
Jace wouldn't know what he would do if the wolf charged him or if another wolf decided to step forwards and attack. However, his mind was now speedily considering the options before him. He could easily just make to run for it, but it would hurt his pride. No he could do this. He was sure that he could do this. If it attacked, he would use the bow to knock it back. It was big enough and would be able to withstand the force of whatever came at it or so he hoped. That only worked for defense though. He'd have to keep it back if he hoped to attack, damn it. Was there a way he could do something that would be effective at the same time?

She could imagine the Hunter following her, she could imagine just leading him to other members of the pack. That may not be the worst thing though, the more of them there were, the easier it would be to get rid of the Hunter and she wouldn't have to be the one to kill him. It wasn't that she hadn't killed a human before, she could remember the feeling of her teeth digging into the soft flesh of the throat, it was that she had hated the guilt that followed it. Yes, she'd feel guilty even if she was killing a Hunter who had probably killed many of her kind. She'd been called weird once because of that, she tried to think of it as a positive, she was a good person and she was exactly what the Hunters thought didn't exist in the supernatural world.
So she wasn't going to kill him, she'd put herself in such a mindset she didn't even know if she would do it in self-defence if it came to that point. The Hunter had backed up into the tree, trying to hide himself. She couldn't see him as well now but she would still see when he moved. He had to be planning something, he would move. As the seconds passed, she made sure her ears were a-tuned to the whistle of the arrow as it flew through the air, such a small sound she was paranoid that she would miss it. He moved. She ducked down at the sight of him firing another arrow and tried to stay as close to the ground as she could. She was happy that he was just firing arrows, in a way it was easier for her to avoid getting herself killed, she could dodge an arrow easier than a blade.
Her growl had faded as soon as she'd ducked but now she was whimpering in pain, trying to stop the noise but it was like swearing when you kicked your toe, you make a noise when you're in pain. There was pain on her back, a line of fire. She was hoping the arrow had just grazed her but she couldn't be sure, the pain didn't help her in working out how bad the injury was. Still letting out a small high pitched whimper, she stood up and starting moving away from where she knew the Hunter was. Moving hurt, it almost felt like her back was on fire but Kiana wasn't going to let it stop her. She had a much higher pain tolerance as a wolf than as a human anyway.
She stopped as she stepped on something with a back paw. It was an arrow and it wasn't the first one that had been fired. That was a good sign, unless he'd fired a third one it meant that there wasn't an arrow lodged into her back, it'd just grazed her. She kept backing up though, slowly but surely to try and put as much space as possible between her and the Hunter. She was hoping she'd be able to just get away, that he'd just give up on her thinking she's too much trouble. She knew the hope was pointless. What Hunter would actually give up? They were just about insane from what she'd seen over the years. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

Damn Jace hated snow. He hated snow as much as he hated werewolves. It got all piled up and made people sink down into it swallowing them up and shielding them from the world. It shielded them from arrows and from other projectiles. Snow was worse than ice in that because it was powdered, it compacted more. It grew up in large thick hills and acted as an annoying defense that was harder to penetrate. Bah! A quiet tich sound escaped from the hunter as he realized he was allowing himself to be angry for reasons that he could not effectively change. That was illogical and foolish on his part to say the least of it.
The whimpering sound that hit Jace's ears caused him to flinch in physical pain for a moment. He hated those sounds more than anything in the world. It reminded him that he was harming something that was living- that he was killing something that had a right to some form of life. He hated it not because it brought back the days when he was a Protettore and trying to preserve the mythical creature community so much as the nights when his daughter would cry out in that shrill voice that demanded to be either held close or taken care of. It was a jarring feeling that gushed forth in him, and Jace reminded himself that he would have to do this quickly least he lose the gal.
The crunch of snow alerted him to the fact that the wolf was on the move, and Jace forced himself forwards around the tree willing himself to follow after her despite what he had already perceived to be a tense situation. He would have to be careful least she had a pack around. He had to be careful. Had to be... Pressing his back up against the tree briefly, he willed himself forwards after that standing sideways and pulling yet another bow from his bag. He only had a few left and would have to make every single one count if he wanted to beast this creature and came home in victory.
Pulling back the string, he shot off yet another arrow towards the wolf aiming for her right shoulder as best he could. However, in that moment he was finding himself shivering just a little from the cold. His teeth were chattering, but he would never admit it. He wouldn't go back home until he had something. That was his decision and his will. He had to... He had to.

Maybe the Hunter needed to think about a different weapon, one he was actually good at using. It was working out well for her though, she had an injury but it wasn't too bad, she could already feel the pain starting to fade a bit as her body's quick healing did its job. Watching the Hunter, she could see that he was shaking, it was hard to notice but he was, maybe he was shaking with fear because he had such a bad aim with the bow? She snorted out a laugh, an odd sound as a wolf. A scared Hunter, that was about as believable as the legends she was told as pup about how the werewolves came to rely on the moon.
She was still backing up, slowly moving one paw at a time and trying to get as much space as possible between her and the Hunter. One of her front paws slipped a bit and she felt the burning cold of the snow as her paw slipped under it. She kicked it away, watching as the white powdery ice went up into the air slightly and feel back to mix in with the rest of the snow covering the forest floor. If she were human right now she would be throwing snowballs at the Hunter in hopes to distract him enough to run away. She couldn't exactly make snowballs as a wolf though, there was a lack of fingers and the needed opposable thumb. She could try to kick snow up and block his view while she ran away, like a smoke screen but she doubted it would work like she imagined it would. She hadn't been around snow for very long, it was her first winter with snow actually.
Thinking in terms of distracting the Hunter, she wondered what would happen if she start running towards him. Maybe he'd be surprised, maybe she might be able to surprise him enough to use it as a way to get away. Still moving backwards, she let her her head tilt up a bit and she howled. She'd be more successful in getting away if she could work out the direction of some of the other wolves in her pack, she just hoped she wasn't the only one currently shifted. The howl wasn't long, it was cut off quickly as made herself pull her attention back to the Hunter. She couldn't afford to look away from him for longer than a few seconds, that was even dangerous enough.
Her ears folded back against her skull as she stopped moving backwards. She shook out her fur and started to sprint forwards. If I don't catch him by surprise... she told herself, her eyes stuck to the bow that he could use to shoot an arrow at her in seconds. She needed to get to him before he shot another arrow. She didn't want to have to actually attack him though, there was a tree not to far in front of him to the left and she would turn when she got to that tree. If she made it that far before he reacted. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

Jace's eyes narrowed a little as he fished out yet another arrow from his bag wondering if he would even get a chance to finish off the wolf or not He knew that he could have brought more arrows, but normally this was just the right amount for any situation. Blasted snow. He hated snow. It reflected everything and made it harder to see. Maybe he should have brought a hat with a brim on it to keep the light down or something. It would have been a thought for a different time, though. He still had arrows left, and he would keep it up until he either ran out or could think of something else to do.
And suddenly Jace's worst fears for the moment were realized as the werewolf suddenly came barreling towards him. Suddenly his pulse was in his ears, and various orders were reeling through his mind in that few seconds. It was stupid to engage a werewolf whose bite strength alone could rip him a new one. However, if he made to run for it, it wasn't like she couldn't just chase after him. Though he somewhat prided himself with his speed, it was more reaction time based when it came down to it, and going a long distance running was taxing in the snow of all places.
After a few seconds, a wild idea came to his head, and suddenly he was slipping the bow down his fingers before grabbing the other end in a make shift bent sword. Mentally cursing at the fact that he was abusing an elegant weapon in such a way, he sighed outwards before suddenly running forwards to meet the werewolf. If he could get her to be the arch of the bow and hopefully not snap it, he could force her back. What he would after that, he had no idea, but right then and there that was the best he could think of doing. Damn he hated pressure so much sometimes. It made him do things he was so unsure of when it came down to it. That was life though.
Leaping forwards, he made to meet her maw with the arched wood before putting all of his weight behind a shove to try and make her back up. Little did he know that she was actually just trying to run him off and would have stopped right before the tree that he had just passed on his way to meet her. Irony was so lovely, it seemed.

She was aware of everything around her, paranoia starting to slip in to her mind and make her wonder if more Hunters might be nearby. She caught sight of her breath appearing in a cloud of mist as she sprinted, she felt the snow beneath her feet and she knew she was concentrating too much on everything around her. She wasn't used to the snow, when she hunted all she did was that, hunt, but now she was watching out for signs of other hunters while trying to get away from the one in front of her without getting killed. It was easy to ignore the whole fact that she was running in snow when she hunted, now she found it hard. She shook her head. Don't be stupid and get distracted.
She let out a yelp of surprise as the hunter jumped forward and tried to push her back with the bow. She ran backwards, or at least she attempted it. Letting out a growl as she fell, she flashed her teeth at the hunter in warning and stood back up. He had a bow and arrows, she had claws and razor sharp teeth, it was obvious who had the better weapons. The better weapons didn't mean an automatic win though. She slowly backed up this time and stopped when her tail brushed against a tree. If she could shift back and if it didn't mean she'd be naked, she could climb the tree and set up camp there, hope the hunter wasn't able to climb up after her. There were so many trees around, they were in a flipping forest but as she felt a slight breeze blow through her fur she knew it was the full moon reminding her that she was stuck like this.
She couldn't remember many times when she'd been pissed off at that fact.
She was a wolf, a wolf with human intelligence against a human who just had a bow and what seemed to be the world's worst aim. She shouldn't be wishing to shift back. If she just scared him, even if it meant injuring him, enough that he wouldn't try and follow her if she ran then it would work out fine. She bolted, twisting around trees and circling the hunter in a wide arch that she hoped her wouldn't be able to see. A leap over a fallen tree and one last turn then she was standing behind him. She stopped. She looked at the Hunter and then around at the forest. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

The yelp of surprise was enough to draw a smirk to Jace's features. He had caught the beast off guard! That was good. As the wolf collided forwards with him, the hunter nearly fell forwards due to the fact that all of his weight was behind the collision. Thankfully he caught himself in another moment and quickly took a defensive stance his hand ready to grab at yet another bow from his back. A part of him was aware that he wasn't fast enough to draw it and shoot effectively, yet it gave him some comfort that he could somehow defend himself if necessary.
Despite the logic that told him he should back up when the wolf did and try and get away when she did, the man stepped forwards forcing confidence into himself. However, in another moment, she had bolted backwards, and before he could react, she was out of sight. Looking around sharply, Jace tried to figure out where the creature had gone, yet his sight was no good as she came up behind him. It was only the sound of paws hitting snow that caused him to turn around in another moment. His entire body was on edge, and the hair on his neck was standing on end. Suddenly whipping an arrow out of his case, he made to shoot at her yet again. Mentally he scowled at the fact that he was clearly running out of arrows. What he would do when they were gone, he didn't know. Jace had to do something though...
"I'm better than you," the hunter growled doing his best to keep irritation in his body rather than the compulsive fear that was threatening to break the surface of his body right then and there. He was stronger than this or so he told himself. He could do this. He was sure he could do this.

She had the perfect opportunity to attack him, to leave a nice set of scars on his back with her claws. She couldn't bring herself to do it though, she wasn't naturally violent and her wolf side wasn't violent enough to attack him for her. She stood tall, trying to make herself look as intimidating as she could in hopes that it might actually scare away the Hunter. She knew it wouldn't, she knew it was going to be hard to get the guy to run away screaming, but she still tried anything she could. It wasn't like she was small and cute as a wolf, she was quite tall and if she really wanted to she could look monstrous.
She trying to side step as another arrow was sent her way but she had to hold in another whimper as it clipped her shoulder. She needed to move faster. The injury didn't feel as bad as the one healing on her back but if she started gathering small injuries it would slow her down and she didn't need that, she was slow enough already. She tested her leg while keeping her eyes on the Hunter still facing her, it hurt to move her leg but nowhere near bad enough to stop her. It would only be a minute or so before the pain started to fade out, for smaller injuries the pain never lasted too long and she thanked the werewolf healing for that.
A barking laugh was Kiana's response to Jace's words. Better than me? A Hunter better than me? She couldn't believe that he could say those words out loud, she couldn't believe he actually thought that. He was the one who was trying to kill her, he'd shot arrows at her, pushed her back with his bow when she had just been trying to get away. She hadn't done anything to hurt him, she hadn't left a mark on him so how did that make him better than her?The Hunters needed to learn that killing what they were scared of didn't make them better people, it made them worse. Her claws dug into the snow beneath her and then into the dirt under it. The Hunter could have run full speed at her and tried to knock her down and she was sure she would have stayed standing, her claws were like tent pegs in the ground, keeping her on the same spot.
She didn't want to attack him. No, she did want to attack him, she just knew that she shouldn't. The words really had managed to piss her off and her wolf side was feeding off that anger and making it stronger. She was moving towards the Hunter before she had even really made the decision to, she growled in annoyance at both the Hunter and her wolf side making the attack decision for her. She bared her teeth and then turned to the side in hopes that she could avoid anything the Hunter might try to stop her. She eyed his shoulder and she decided that was probably the best target she could pick. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

The wolf didn't realize how monstrous she was already in Jace's mind. As much as he was fighting down his own nerves at the moment, he was aware of the fact that he was running out of arrows and his only source of an effective weapon at the moment. Heart pounding, he growled back just as she did though it came off less rough and more hoarse due to the frigid air deciding to make it harder to breathe. He had injured her. He knew that. It was something he could play on or so he hoped.
The barking laugh was heard loud and clear, and Jace's face paled at the sound of it. For a few seconds, a part of him was ready to bolt the and there. However, his pride wouldn't let him just yet. He had... one arrow left. He just had to make it could for more than something, and after that he would go from there in any which direction he could. He couldn't give up just yet. He wouldn't allow himself to give up just yet. As the wolf almost seemed to tense, Jace tensed, and rapidly he fished for his last arrow. What he would do after that, he would figure out later. Aiming as best he could, he let the arrow fly in a short burst of energy hoping that would be good enough.

An arrow was in her right shoulder. It didn't feel deep, it didn't feel like it was going to get anywhere near killing her but she wasn't too sure if she would be moving very fast again. This was what the Hunter would want, her injured so it was harder for her to defend herself or run away and then he could easily kill her. She couldn't just stand there and hope that another member of her pack heard her howl and got there quick enough. She counted the seconds until 20 had passed and as there was no returning howl she took it that she was on her own. She had to get out of this by herself and she knew she could, she just needed to before the Hunter could injure her again.
She had no idea that the Hunter had just shot his last arrow, she couldn't see his quiver so she just guessed that he had more arrows to shoot at her. Her only choice was still to injure him, she knew that and the anger from his words was still there helping her wolf side with its attempt to take control again. Ignoring the pain in her shoulder, she started forward again in a run. She ran for his shoulder, planning to give him just as a bad pain as she was in now. Her left front paw swung into the air and her claws dug into the Hunter's shoulder. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

Now Jace was out of arrows, and the wolf was still standing. Now he was going to have to improvise if he hoped to even live. The wolf had claws and teeth. He had nails and rounded out molars. They weren't even in the same ball park, and the hunter knew it. Shivering and feeling his teeth chattering, he debated what to do. Should he run for it and hope that she didn't follow? No, that would leave his back expose, and like hell he wanted to do that right off if he could avoid it. Thoughts racing, Jace didn't have time to realize that the wolf was suddenly barreling at him.
The collision was unexpected. More unexpected than that was the claws that dug into his shoulder, and Jace became aware of the searing sort of pain that only came from skin being slashed at. Falling backwards, he flinched briefly before willing his arm to raise and his bow to block whatever teeth might have been bared at him in that moment. If Ki really wanted to, she could easily just bite off his fingers in that moment as the hunter fought for control of the situation. How he would get it, Jace didn't know, but at the moment Mastery over his own heart beat was becoming top priority very quickly. A hiss of pain escaped from him after a moment as he realized that his skin was getting slashed rather than just compressed, and for a few seconds, he thought about just laying there..
Like hell he would! He didn't want to get killed or anything, damn it all! "Get off!" he all but roared making to try and shove forwards and up even with his muscles clenching and his body a bit too happy to be one with the freezing cold snow at the moment. He found himself taking back the overconfident words that he had uttered just a bit ago. He wasn't better, but he needed to be at that moment in time!
