Raphael found himself hard pressed. He was forced to exchange with the rogue in such an enclosed space that his every tactical advantage, his every defensive and offensive strategy was negated. There was nothing to do but just duke it out until one of them fell. He could not give an inch for behind him was the exit, to the right of that was his father the alpha, in front and to the right was the doctor. Raphael knew he had to keep the rogue engaged and away from the three. With all these handicaps, Raphael found his equal. Nate and Raphael were a heap of snarling, growling, and yelping fur as they tore at each other and jockeyed for an opening to deliver a killing blow. Nails on hind legs raked underbellies as teeth tore at anything exposed. Chunks of hair and skin flew everywhere. Blood ran freely, healing factors unable to keep up with the carnage.
The words "I have her" from Mitchel graced Raphael's thoughts a split second before he heard the combination of a Alice's scream, the sippy cup hitting the floor, and Mitchel's spoken words calling out to Alice. Had it not been for that, Raphael would have surely lost his focus and turned to look behind. It would have been the opening the rogue needed to gain the upper hand and deal Raphael a wound he could not recover from. Then it happened. Raphael with his full attention on the mongrel caught the break he needed. The rogue looked to hesitate, his eyes shifting to the doorway behind Raphael at the sound of the scream and commotion. Raphael went in for the kill. His jaw opened with and reached in to take hold of the exposed neck of the rogue. Before he bit down with all his might, the rogue went limp and fell to the floor. Raphael almost completed the attack, but the suddenness of this made him pause the bite, even as his jaws followed the rogue's neck down. This was crazy. The mongrel had just left himself completely exposed. Raphael was above him with his teeth positioned perfectly on top of the rogue's neck. One bite and tear your sever vital nerves at the spine that would paralyze his foe. It may well even kill him.
Raphael could not afford to speculate. He could not see the intelligence that returned to the eyes of the other wolf from the angle he had. Did not know the action the other wolf took was intentional and not just a fortunate slip up. The rogue whimpered and Raphael mistook this for the mongrel's realization that he'd lost. That Raphael had his death rights written and all but delivered. Raphael secured his footing and was about to go for the kill when he found himself frozen even before the words "Stand Down" from his alpha were heard. Unlike the rogue, Raphael was bound to the will of his alpha. They were connected mind and body.
Mitchel could see what Raphael could not. The Mattias alpha had scooped up Alice into his arms and turned his eyes back to the battle just in time to see and feel Nate claw his way back into dominance, and to see his youngest heir position himself for a decisive blow. His mental command was instant, far outpacing the verbal. The good doctor suddenly being on top of both wolves with a syringe leading his charge was a plus. Giordano struck home on his target now stationary. He plunged the syringe in and injected the contents into Nate.
Now unconscious, the rogue was at Mitchel's mercy. The alpha went to work on the rogue wolf, sealing it away into the back of Nate's consciousness before it could burn through the sedative. Otherwise Nate would still be out cold, and that rogue would have taken complete and irreversible control then. Mitchel made the decision to take the man into his pack. Mitchel simply had no other option available to him. The man that was Nate must become one with the wolf in order to control it. The two would become one, seamless, a whole. Nate could then live as normal a life as could be expected. He would be in full control of himself. He could then be taught what it was to be a werewolf. The rules governing the lycan world. And most importantly, how to manage his cravings, and how to be a member of the Mattias family.
Something of that magnitude would require his full attention and concentration. So much that when Alice began to squirm, he subconsciously just set her down knowing the danger had passed. Alice took off running. To everyone's surprise she raced past Raphael, Nate, and the doctor and said "No hose play in the house, Uncle Rafiel!. You almost squished fluffy kitty." Which was what her grandma always said when the three brothers were wrestling or arguing aggressively. She stopped at the bed, knelt, reached underneath and pulled out a rather disheveled looking cat who's every hair was standing on end making it look like a giant colored cotton ball with wide eyes, four stubs for paws, and a feather duster for a tail. The fluff ball went limp in her arms and purred. "Are you okay, Kit-Cat? Did Uncle and Granddad scare you?" Alice hugged him to her while cooing gentle words of reassurance before she walked back the way she came and out the door.
Raphael could not help himself. He shifted back to his human form and laughed through the pain of his injuries. The doctor worked on both he and Nate in treating the most serious of wounds. With the wolf subdued, Mitchel forced Nate's transformation back to human and placing a hand on his head, set about his task.

As the world faded into darkness, Nate only felt relief that he would not harm anyone that day, even if he was a monster. The wolf however, was not quite so happy about the turn of events but before he could do anything, he was once again cast aside and placed in a prison by some unseen force. Nothing that the wolf did made this new cage give way, not like the prison the weakling human had endeavored to keep him in prior to the full moon. Despite his best efforts to break free, they seemed to hit a brick wall that the wolf would later know was the Alpha asserting his dominance. Right then however, the wolf was more frustrated from being yanked away just moments from defeating his rival, or so the wolf believe had Nate not intervened. Not only that but the wolf could tell that something was happening, but what he couldn't tell. There was no way to tell what was happening in reality in the prison he had been placed in by the mysterious force. Whatever it was however, it certainly did not bode well for the future...whatever that might entail. Damn that Nate...if only he hadn't intervened then he would have been the victor. He could have showed his dominance instead of being forced into a corner like a naughty child that had been placed in time out. Once Alice had been set down and had found the hiding, scared fuzzball that was Chess, the tabby couldn't be more relieved. The fur that had previously looked like it had been the result of being electrocuted smoothed down almost instantly under Alice's gentle touch as the sound of motorboat purring filled the air. The angel was right, everything would be alright after all...how could it not be...angels were always right. The laughing that filled the air thereafter was lost on Nate or the retreating Chess who by then was far out of ear shot. Not that the tabby would have minded, he was safe in the angel's arms and nothing could harm him now. It would be a few hours still before Nate would awaken to realize that he had returned to his human form. As he stirred, Nate no longer had any doubts as to what he truly was: a monster, a beast to be feared. Why...why was he forced to endure this curse...to become the same beast that had destroyed everything he had once held dear to him. Not only that but he seemed to have stumbled across others like him...monsters...he still remembered the feeling of the teeth on his neck. Truly, it was a wonder he hadn't died after suffering so much damage after the wolf had once again taken control. Ironically, if Alice hadn't screamed, Nate might not have been able to stop the fight when he had. Eyes opened at long last to find that once again he was a human, unclad save for the bandages that were put in place while he had slept. Like the last time he had been placed back in the bed that he had first awoken in minus the restraints. Still groggy from the effects of the tranquilizer, Nate blinked a few times before his vision cleared enough to recognize the three men in the room. Raphael, Mitchel, and Dr. Giordano. Now awake, Nate was able to recall the events that transpired and how unprofessional his behavior had been prior to Mitchell's arrival. Sitting up, Nate bowed his head slightly to Mitchel, "My apologies for my prior behavior SeƱor Mattias,"he began courteously, a far cry from the sarcasm laced responses before. "The circumstances prior to finding myself in your beautiful manor have hardly been the best as I am certain you can imagine. Perhaps if I tell you the tale, you will understand why I had refused to believe what you had said was true. I am not deceiving you when I say that I have truly lost everything...had it not been for Chess, the cat that the darling angel of a girl just took out of the room, I may not be here today,"he continued, smiling slightly as he spoke. "That is a tale that can wait for the time being however, I do not relish reliving such...unfortunate events once more. Surely you must have questions of me. Please, ask, and I shall do my best to answer them,"Nate finished before waiting to see what the other men in the room had to say. Words: 749 | Notes: --- | Tags: Mattias Manor
