Yukki listened intently as Gwen unloaded her life to him. He was so interested in her family and how it all worked together. She briefly mentioned brothers but didn't continue to explain them. He paused his thoughts for a moment to question what she was keeping or failing to mention about her brothers. He finished his ice-cream come just about the time that Gwen finished explaining about her family. He tried not to interrupt her with his own personal comments. She had something on her chest and it was now obvious that she needed to get it off.
Yukki smiled comfortingly at Gwen from across the table as she addressed him. He replied with a simple hum as he looked her in the eyes. She went down a different path. First explaining her family, their company and now she was on herself. She explained what happened earlier that day. His brow furrowed as he listened intently and waited for what she was trying to get at. He carressed her small hand in his as she was having trouble spitting out the big beans. "I'm twelve. Please be gentle." it was quiet and filled with embarassment. A smile tugged at Yukki's lips as his stomach that had been tied up in butterflies calmed instantly.
"You have no idea how relieved I am to hear this is about your age. It's just a number, okay? I'm new to this whole thing too. I'll be lucky if your dad or brothers or whoever doesn't kill me." He smiled down at the girl reassuringly, his hands tightening around hers. "Anyway, twelve isn't that bad at all. I'm only 15, myself; but age is only a number. It's in here that really counts." The smile dropped from his lips as a serious look came about him as he pointed to his chest where his heart lay. He looked up at Gwen to see if she was paying attention. "I've got crazy family issues as well." He admitted, his voice and eyes dropping a little. Sara's face flashed quickly in his mind as he mentioned family.
"My life is kinda complicated." Yukki started, "I have an older sister who is very special. You see she's a..." He knew he wasn't supposed to tell anyone, but what relationship was founded on lies that lasted? He knew better than to keep stuff from her like that. Just as he was about to tell her about Saraitha the chime on the door of the store stopped him. He looked up, instantly distracted to see who walked through the door, his jaw dropping as he saw who it was.

As Yukki smiled at her and expressed his own relief at her confession. Gwen could only smile and squeeze his hand in return. Her heart soared and she simply beamed up at him as he told her that age was just a number and what mattered was what was in their hearts. "Really?, you don't mind?" Gwen asked looking for reassurance. It was just 3 years difference, but she knew they faced many challenges if they were to start a relationship. Her family was the least of Gwen's worries. Yukki would only be in danger if he revealed any family secrets or hurt Gwen somehow. She was more concerned about peer pressure. She was sure she could handle anything the dumb humans could dish out. But what about Yukki? Rumors were going to fly. She could only imagine how stressful it would be for him. He was so handsome. How long would it be before one of the older girls caught his eye? Gwendolyn was not so naive that she didn't know some of them would be angry that a cute boy would choose Gwen. They would try to tempt him away from her, and being more experienced and more... developed... Gwen mentally cringed at the thought.
Her runaway thoughts evaporated when his smile wavered. His features turned serious as he stated that his own family had issues as well. Her own smile lessened out of concern yet she was still smiling to a lesser extent. She felt there was nothing he could say that would dampen her mood. She was just too excited at what the future held for them. Even thought he had not formally asked her to be his girlfriend, they were already more than just friends as far as she was concerned. While she'd talked to other boys at school on a day to day basis, she'd never told another boy that she liked him. Nor had a boy ever divulged that confession to her. This was practically their first date!. Or at least it was to her.
Yukki's words about life being complicated and something about his sister being special confused Gwen. His eyes leaving hers made her worry. 'Special? Special how?' She thought even as the chime at the door rang to announce another customer entering. His voice trailed off as his head rose and his eyes looked up and over Gwen's head to the door behind her.
On instinct alone, her eyes flicked to the pane of glass to her left. She saw the limousine, but the driver was scrambling in her direction. A hand reaching into his suit. She knew instantly that he was reaching for his gun. Her eyes flicked back to Yukki and she saw the surprise in his features as his mouth dropped open.
The stench of vampire incense hit her as the breeze from outside reached her. 'Oh God, please...no.' She thought. The nightmare at the restaurant, not too long ago, flashed into her mind. She pictured the vampire from the restaurant behind her. His gun leveling to aim at the her back. The door was less than fifty feet behind her. There would be no escape this time.
Gwendolyn panicked. She feared, but surprising even herself, she did not fear for herself, she feared for Yukki. He was in the line of fire and the picture of her brother Leon taking a bullet to his shoulder that flashed into her mind made her jump up and throw herself over the tabletop at Yukki. He couldn't let him get hurt like Leon. She'd not stand by and let history repeat itself. "YUKKI!" was all she had time to shout. Her arms wrapped around him. She tried to shield him from the hail of bullets she knew would start at any moment. Her only hope was that her bodyguard would take the vampire out before Gwen took a hit she would not be able to recover from. She was face to face with Yukki. Their foreheads touching. Her terrified eyes locked onto his surprised ones. She trembled, expecting the report of gunfire and the impact of bullets. Would the first be to the head? That would end her life in an instant. This in mind, she shifted her weight so that her momentum would cause them to fall sideways and the tabletop may shield them. As they fell she truly believed the next few moments to possibly be her last. So closing her eyes, she kissed him, fulfilling a desire she thought was still days, weeks, or even months from being possible. Her first kiss. If she was to die this day, she wanted to have at least that. And only with him.
The seconds ticked by and there were no screams of terrified customers. No sounds of gunfire. No pain of bullets piercing her flesh. All she heard was Angie greeting a customer and asking what she wanted to order. The door opening again. That would be the bodyguard rushing in behind the vampire. Then just a feminine voice telling Angie "no thank you" and footsteps coming closer. A pause. Then the feminine voice asking Yukki what he was doing. Gwendolyn knew she'd erred. She should have looked before acting. She opened her eyes to find Yukki's. Her lips left his as her cheeks colored. Rising slowly onto her arms, she was all but straddling him. It was unavoidable. They were on the bench seat with the table restricting movement. She looked away and up to find the Japanese girl from the picture on the inside cover of Yukki's book. Gwen had forgotten about her. Was she his girlfriend?. Gwen remembered the faint smell of vampire she detected on Yukki. The same smell that still lingered on him even now. The same as the vampiress that now looked down on her with disapproval etched on her features. "Oh, God, I'm so sorry. I...." She whispered. Her words faltered. What could she say.
Gwendolyn was going to die, that was a certainty. Just not of a gunshot wound.

Saraitha Mei Miafuji closed her eyes for a moment. She couldn't believe what a difficult day she was having. Even with Ator's help and guidance, the bureaucracy and red tape to open a restaurant was a monumental undertaking. There were building codes, inspectors that scrutinized every little thing before they would issue a C.O. (certificate occupancy), a separate health certificate for the kitchen, liquor license for the alcohol. That one she had to think about. While the cafe was a family restaurant, she knew her bread and butter would be men. But forty thousand pounds just to be able to have Sake on the menu?... It was highway robbery!! Then there was that SOB of a general contractor she had to fire. 'What nerve!' Sara thought with a sigh, bringing her hand up to the back of her neck to massage the tenseness away. Sara pushed away the thoughts of the nightmare with the contractors. The new ones would arrive tomorrow. She'd been to so many ministries and other government offices this day that she was just burned out. "How the hell do you do it" She thought out loud thinking of her father who had been a career politician in Japan. He had dealt with that and so much worse. A horn blared and her eyes opened. She focused on her rear view mirror to see the guy in a car behind her pointing and shouting obscenities. She glanced just to the left of the mirror to see the traffic light had turned green. How long had she sat there? She shook her head. She needed a break. Sara waved politely at the man and accelerated through the intersection. She quickly remembered where she was and smiled to see her favorite ice cream shop just ahead. 'Death by chocolate... yes, that's what I need' she thought as she slowed to find parking. She sighed once again when she saw the limousine parked in front of the shop. The vehicle was taking up the equivalence of three parking spaces. Even in her mini cooper she knew she would not be able to wedge herself into the shortened spaces in front and behind the limo. She parked further down the block and made it a point to walk all the way to where the limo was before crossing over. "You know, parking is already a hassle without you taking over four spots." She said out of the blue to the man in the suit and aviator sunglasses standing in front of the limo. She surprised herself. Before her change she would have kept to herself. But the stress of the day had worn her patience thin. The man's body did not move, but his head turned in her direction and followed her path as she walked up and stood right in front of him. Her hand went to her hip as she struck a pose. "There's a lot up the street where you can wait for your passengers. Or at least put money in the other three meters since you are using four spots." She scolded the man. His lips twitched up into a smile. "You are mistaken, Maddam. I am with my vehicle, so I am standing, not parking. The law allows..." he said and cut off suddenly. Sara noticed he inhaled sharply through his nose. His mouth clamped shut and the smile was replaced with a tight lipped frown. His eyes had widened in surprise. She could tell by the movement of his eyebrows though she could not see his eyes due to the mirrored shades. Understanding dawned when she caught his scent. Her own brow rose. He was a warewolf. Sara looked him up and down. The armmani suit by itself was probably close to a grand. "No one has change for a hundred thousand dollar bill?" She retorted sharply then she turned on her heel and walked away across street to the shop. 'this town is just crawling with lycans. Do they all have to be stuck-up and rude?.' She thought as she walked away. Pulling the handle on the door to the shop, a chime sounded and Sara saw the store owner pop her head out from the doorway to the stock room behind the counter. Sara glanced up the menu board even though she knew already what she would order. A girl shouted, but it wasn't her shout that had Sara's head snapping in the direction of the commotion. It was the fact that the girl shouted her little brother's name. Sara's eyes darted to the first booth in front of the plate glass window. A young girl was lunging across the table. She embraced.... 'Yukki!' and looked to force him down to disappear from view. Sara almost gasped. The girl looked like she kissed her brother. While Sara has glad that her brother was showing interest in girls other than herself, this brown haired girl looked to be taking advantage of her inexperienced brother. Had she no shame? No honor? Such a display in public. 'I have to have a speak with him about fast girls like that.' She though. The shop owner greeting Sara took her attention away for a moment. Sara found that she no longer wanted the ice cream. She needed to find out what this was all about with Yukki. The door opened behind Sara and she turned to noticed the rather flushed armani suit wolf guy standing in the doorway staring her down. His hand was hidden in his vest. Sara should have paid more attention to this, but she dismissed it as him reaching for his wallet and turned to walk towards Yukki's table. Sara stopped a hand rising to cover her mouth as she gasped at the sight before her. She was so caught off guard that she didn't hear the soft growl from the were behind her. There was a young girl on top of her brother. Her arms wrapped around her brother. Their lips were locked together in a kiss. She was tiny in comparison to her brother, like a child. Sara was shocked. She knew her brother had a little siscon problem which she tolerated only because she'd raised the boy. She kinda blamed herself. He didn't have a male roll model in his life. They just had each other. Sara being a vampire made it hard for Yukki to have a normal childhood. She relied on him for her sanity and could not help keeping him close. Before her change he was all that kept her from sub-coming to the monster within her. She'd killed humans before he came to her that fateful day decade ago. But this?... Had he now gone loli? No, the girl was the one to initiate. "Yukki?.... What are you doing?" She asked. There was no keeping the irritation from her voice. The scent of werewolf reached her making her features turned to a scowl of displeasure before she could stop herself. Sara had no good experiences with lycans. The girl had looked up and seen this. Sara regretted her slip almost immediately for the girl stammered an apology and looked to be totally humiliated at her predicament

Yukki's eyes grew wide as Gwen wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. It wasn't but a second later that he wrapped his own arms around her and kissed her back, closing his eyes. His first kiss. No doubt it would be a memory that he would cherish. It just wasn't how he was expecting. His stomach twisted in knots as she pulled away from him. Her own eyes wide in shock. Something wasn't right. Why was Gwen so quick to jump across the table in the manner that she did. Who was she expecting? Or better yet, what? Color flushed his cheeks as he glanced down at the girl in front of him. "There's no need to apologize." He whispered.
He took a breath and was about to explain to Gwen that he had been planning on that kiss before she had quickly acted on her own. He also intended on asking her what her rush was? Why had she acted the way she did? Something was obviously wrong and was bugging her. His breath hitched in his throat and slowly came out as a small croak as he was distracted by a familiar voice. "What... What are you doing here?" he stammered in reply to the woman standing in front of him. His sister was nothing shy of intimidating at times, but this moment was his for the taking and she wasn't meant to be there. Why was she this far across town, anyway? "I, uh, WE, got out of school early. First day and all." He nodded, regaining confidence toward the end of his sentence. That was his story and he was sticking with it.
Yukki looked back over to his young companion and grinned at her, flashing a quick wink at her. He placed his hand on the seat between himself and Gwen, his long fingers slightly brushing her hand. He looked up at the woman at the end of the table. "Saraitha, meet my girlfriend, Gwendolyn Mattias." the butterflies in his stomach took flight again as he introduced his friend to his sister. He dreaded his sister's reaction. He had forever been in love with her, carrying around a photo of her, dreaming about her. He was almost positive that his sister knew about his passion for her. He hoped that she would be okay with this relationship. Something he dreaded even more would be Gwen's reaction to how he introduced her. "Gwen," he said, blushing again as he looked down to his friend, taking her hand,"this is my sister. Saraitha Miafuji." He waited for the wrath of the females to reign down on him from the gods above. All he could hope for was for his death to be quick.

No no No!... This was all wrong. Gwen thought to herself. This was Gwen's first kiss and though it was forced prematurely by fear, it was supposed to be special. Yukki had kissed her back and the sensation of his lips still lingered on hers. His scent was making her head spin. She should be smiling and happy yet she was anything but. How could she smile? The girl in his book ended up being his sister.. The someone "special" Yukki was talking about just a few minutes ago. He was about to tell Gwen that his sister was a special...what? Then it dawned on Gwendolyn. Was he going to tell her his sister was a vampire? But why would he confess that secret to a girl he'd just met. It could put the both of them in danger. He had no idea Gwen was a werewolf and could smell the vampire. How could he take that chance?.
There was just one other thing Gwen could think of. Yukki was Japanese after all, and Gwen knew all about Japanese people, or so she thought. Gwendolyn was a huge Manga and Anime fan. She had hundreds of tittles in her collection that even outnumbered here zombie and TMNT libraries. Gwen knew it was fiction, but it had to be based on some facts about how the Japanese lived too. She had some tittles that had to do with a brother with a sister complex or sister with a brother complex. Was it either of those? and then there were the harem titles... Would Gwen now be expected to fight for Yukki's affection???.. It was just crazy. The look the woman had given her was all too real though. She hated Gwen, and could Gwen really blame her? To find you sibling being tackled and kissed in a public place, and to find out that girl was a werewolf on top of that?.... Tears threatened to well though she forbade them from doing so.
This can't be happening. Its all fiction. He and she?..... It was not impossible, but.... Gwen's mind was going a mile a minute. Her eyes were still locked on Saraitha. Gwen only just registered the fact that Yukki'd just called Gwen his girlfriend. She glanced at him to see him smiling at her before turning her eyes back to the sister. Yukki's sister stared with wide eyes and a slightly opened mouth that Gwendolyn easily read as genuine surprise bordering on shock. When this initial reaction settled into something darker, Gwen's embarrassment and fear quickly turned to irritation bordering anger. Yes... that's right. I -am- his girlfriend. And letting you have him, even if you -are- his sister, is just wrong. Gwendolyn decided. This was just all so crazy. She would have to let things play out and find out the facts. Was it all a misunderstanding?. Either way Gwen would not let the vampire think she could scare her. Her eyes hardened as she stared Saraitha down. Yukki's hand slid against hers and Gwen quickly took his hand as she shifted to sit closer to him.
"We both know what we are" Gwen said in a whisper. Her eyes not leaving Sara's "Its not his fault. I thought he was in danger." She continued. Her facial features settled into a neutral expression. "Not something we can talk about here, is it." Gwen said knowing the vamp would take the hint. Gwendolyn's eyes shifted from her gaze into Saraitha's to look over the vampires shoulders. Gwen's eyes narrowed as she shook her head slowly left to right. "Its in your best interest if you could just sit for a minute." Gwen whispered before turning her gaze back to Saraitha's.
Gwendolyn didn't know Yukki well enough, but she knew that he was smart. He would be confused at the words that Gwen just spoke. He would probably have questions. Would their fledgling relationship survive the next blow? Gwen was certain the vampiress would tell Yukki what she was. But how bad could it be? He was living with a vampire.

Her little brother's question of what she was doing there had Sara raising a brow at him. "I could ask you the same thing, Yukki" She retorted at the ridiculous question. He was questioning her? This was not at all like him. Saraitha glanced at Gwen as Yukki explained why they were there. This girl is trouble Sara thought. It was not just a gut feeling. Yukki just lied to her. She knew the time and it was well after school let out. The school called her earlier to let her know her brother had detention and would be late. From what they told her, he was still supposed to be there. Nothing good can come from a werewolf. Even if she was just a pup. Sarah noticed the change in the girl's expression and knew that the pup caught her scent. However, Saraithas's attention was ripped from the wolf pup back to her brother when he introduced the girl as... A Girlfriend?!?!? Her eyes widened and darted back to Gwen.
Saraitha looked at Gwendolyn, and I mean REALLY looked at her. The girl was a head shorter than Yukki. She looked like she belonged in middle school and Sara almost blurted out the question of her age but stopped herself since they wore the same high school uniform. Sara's lips slightly parted to almost gape. Her thoughts spiraled out of control from there. The girl sitting there was cute, even Sara had to admit to this. Her skin was flawless. Her strawberry blond hair perfectly kept in a style that looked like it was meant just for her. Gwen's honey colored orbs were locked on her own, and her facial features were at first embarrassed but once settled into something neutral, was like looking at a living doll.
Something growled deep inside of Sara. Something she'd not been aware of before. The thought of pulling her hand back and slapping the little girl shocked her further still. Was she jealous of a little girl?... It was ridiculous, yet she couldn't keep her expression from turning sour. The pups neutral expression never changed but she took her brother's hand and scooted closer to him. The girls tone as she spoke was condescending and rang close to being threatening. You little brat, who do you think you're talking to! She thought, but Gwen looking over her shoulder made her stiffen. Sara raised an eyebrow and turned her head to look behind.
That limo driver that followed her into the shop was standing there staring daggers at her. Sara shivered as he removed his hand from his suit jacket. She didn't know if it was done on purpose or not, but the mans other hand came up and he pulled the flaps of his suit open slightly as he went to button his jacket. The glimpse of a firearm was visible for a fraction of a second before he pulled the jacket closed and buttoned it. The man smirked before turning on his heel and taking a seat in the empty stool next to him at the front counter.
Sara returned her attention back to Gwen in time to hear her say that it was in Sara's best interest to have a seat. It was all too much to grasp at. Sara did sit opposite Gwen and Yukki. It was either that or possibly end up on the ground, for her legs suddenly felt as if they might give out. There was a man with a gun who was obviously this little girl's bodyguard. There was a limo outside that was no doubt the girl's ride.
Who the hell is this girl? The prime minister's daughter? was all she could think at the moment. Sara's head spun. She'd just found out that she had feelings for her little brother that were beyond siblings. She knew Yukki had a sister complex, and she'd allowed it because she felt it was her fault. Her dependence on him forcing the condition. But Yukki has always just been her little brother that she loved as such. But now that this new development came to light, she had to question her past decisions. Did she really do it just because she needed him to keep her sane, or was it subconsciously more than that?.
Sara wanted to slam her head on the tabletop. She needed time to sort this whole thing out. But there was the second part to the equation. The girl who sat before her next to her, much too young for a girlfriend, little brother. No... he wasn't too young. Sara knew that. But she couldn't help her feelings right now. She pushed it all aside. She had to do something about the wolf pup. There was a man with a gun behind her, and Yukki's life may be in danger because of this girl.
Sara closed her eyes for a moment and sighed. She opened her eyes and could not help herself as she gazed upon Yukki with an expression that was a jumbled mix of longing, concern, confusion and anguish. "My, what a surprise, little brother" Oh, Yukki.... what have you gotten yourself into She thought, even as she spoke. She blinked slowly and turned her head slightly to look at the girl next to her little brother. Her features seemed to settle into concern. Sara's hands slowly came up to settle on the table top and clasp together.
"Alright, Gwendolyn. I am as calm as I am going to get considering the situation. I don't suppose we could go somewhere a bit more private? My house, perhaps? Your... driver.... can accompany you, of course." Sara said after a long pause.
